Meguiar's D114 Rinsefree Express Wash Is Discontinued

I would suggest the plan to discontinue this has been known for quite sometime. I first raised this over 12 months ago. Meguiars Australia told me it was a discontinued product - www.autogeekonline.net/forum/auto-d...4-rinsefree-express-wash-discontinued-12.html

Maybe that is why I have this uneasy feeling about this issue. It isn't that a product I have never used yet was taken off the market - it's the fact that there was no public announcement. Just a by-the-way comment on their forums that sparked this (and other internet) threads.

I guess subconsciously I expect something different from Meguiar's. Something like a pre-announcement, "Hey, we know many of you love D114, but sales just aren't enough to justify keeping it around." - instead of saying that AFTER. oh well - done is done, gone is gone.

Again, not saying my feelings are right, just that they are what they are. Like what you thought was a family owned restaurant where you were a regular suddenly being out of business. (I've had a lot of disappointments in my life.) :)

Just notice I linked the wrong thread due to BM1024's reply. My previous thread from last year was http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum...nse-free-express-wash-being-discontinued.html

After Michael Stoops replied (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum...ss-wash-being-discontinued-3.html#post1249464) "I can tell you all without question that we have NOT discontinued production of D114 Rinse Free Express Wash" I again approached Denis from Meguiars Australia and questioned why they had given me incorrect information. He simply reaffirmed the product was 100% being discontinued and what I had been told otherwise was incorrect.

Despite wanting some D114 I was stuck between a rock and a hard place but I doubted Denis's advice. I just figured they didn't wish to stock it in Australia but looking back now it appears Denis strangely had much better intel on the future of D114.

According to this, Stoops said, "I can tell you all without question that we have NOT discontinued production..." - Which could mean the as of then it was being made, but plans were already in the works to shut down on a specific date.

Using that theory then Denis would also be telling the truth that the product WAS being discontinued - in the near future.

I also read a previous post here that also claimed Stoops said the same thing. (I can't verify their statement - may have just been random internet noise.)

Sounds like someone was playing semantics....or being intentionally deceptive. Either way, thanks faulksy.

Wow, in such a short time D114 went flying off the shelves. Notice how you can't find it on any of the websites.

This really sucks. D114 is my favorite rinseless product. I love how it actually sticks to the surface instead of beading up and rolling off like how ONR does. It makes it so I use much less product while claying.

Are there any other rinseless washes that DON'T have some sort of "protection" in the formula?

It's D114, not the McRib... Who cares if they didn't make a public announcement. Get over it. Lol.

And actually they did announce it on MOL, which is their internet forum. So there you have it.

Yeah, ONR. I'm not sure what the misconception is about ONR, is it because the sales blurb says it has "substantive polymers"? All washes have polymers in them, don't they? Whether they are lubricants, sheeting agents, gloss enhancers, etc. I don't think Optimum has ever touted ONR as having any "protection", other than protection against wash-induced marring (of course ONRWW has protection in it).

^ Makes sense.

I was looking around and just now noticed Chemical Guys has a new rinseless for $34.99.

I wonder if it's closer to ONR or D114 (<---I'm thinking this).

What about Wolfgang Uber? As much as I dislike supporting "German Research" I couldn't help but take D114 [I already have plenty of D114] off my cart after reading it's description.

Uber is fantastic. I have two gallon of the stuff. If you remember, I mentioned making a few gallon of the stuff and pass it around to the neighbors.

The attraction of D114 or anything similar for me is I use it as APC around the flat as well, not just for automotive. APC's tend to smell like...well...APC's. lol I like its mild fragrance.

Their "announcement" was buried in a thread started by someone else. As for who cares - I do. Yes, I am an over-entitled demanding American consumer who feels that his own opinion is the only one that matters...but dang-it I care.

I care that the only announcement was initially buried in an MOL thread until someone (on a forum other than AG) found it and start the wildfire.

I care that Meg's own reps mentioned the product was going away but when called misinformed by Michael Stoops.

I care enough that I think I will finish the Meg's product on my shelves then start looking for alternatives.

Am I overreacting - yeah, probably...but I don't allow any company to mistreat me.

Will losing my $$$ hurt Meg's - Nope, they won't even notice it. Just like AG never noticed when I stopped ordering from them because of their poor customer service. But it makes me feel better and big and powerful so that's enough.

Maybe you need to accept you're just as "random" as the rest of us, how dare Megs not personally contact everyone.

I agree I'm just a random sales number to Meg's - or any company - that does not mean I have to accept it. Can't do much except switch my meager purchases to another company and, in forums such as these, recommend other products besides Meg's. I'm just a single guy, can't fight Goliath and win...but I can do my little part to make me feel like a big shot.

(Unlike many overly entitled people, I know I'm a demanding jackass. - but I overtip waitresses so it evens out.)

I wanted to try and locate a couple gallon to purchase today, but I didn't have time to make it happen. I'm going to look in the morning. If anyone has any leads, please pm me, but I'm not paying through the nose for it. I was actually planning on buying some before this announcement, but I didn't make it happen. I located some yesterday for cheap, but again, something came up and I couldn't make it happen, so I'll try tomorrow...think I've said that twice now. LOL! Getting old. LOL!

Anyway, if I can't find any I won't sweat it because something else always comes along. I do still have nearly 2 gallons of D103 APC+ at my disposal. :)

By the way, the price hike on D114 here at AG came about 1-2 weeks before this thread. I was looking to buy it then and noticed the price hike and decided no way. The price I found yesterday was for around $26 gallon. I'm not paying $42...just because.

I saw some on Amazon about 10 minutes ago.

Thanks! If it's there in the morning good, if not...oh well. Appreciate the reply and tip.

They miss treated you?
You've never bought it.

They mistreated me (and the public) through deception. See post #142 in this thread. (Not the only forum / thread to have similar statements - just the one I'm allowed to mention here.)

I swung by my local Meg's shop hoping he still had a few gallons on the shelf. Said he was out, but had put in a order last week that he was due to get next week, and he hasn't seen any cancellations on it yet. I'll be checking in again with him daily next week so that I can get a gallon.. Mind you I still have 124 oz still sitting on the shelf.
