Meguiar's D166 Ultra Polishing Wax

I received my gallon of D166 this week. Have not tried it yet but I have some questions regarding the product.

For those of you who have used it, what kind of result were you getting using it as an AIO? Like, if I use it to do 4 section passes per pannel, would it outperform D151, be about on par with it? I have seen one video where they say you need to do 8 section passes, to me that is way too much for an AIO.

I remember seeing a comment regarding the scellant durability of this product being much better than D151, if I remember the person mentionned 6 months durability. Is this the case? I have also seen a video with Mike and he was mentioning the product contained carnauba wax and synthetic polymers. To me carnauba means it won't last long... so which is it?

Finally where would you place this product in your packages? Should I simply replace D151 as my one step polish/sealant or should I create an other package for it? I still have half a gallon of D151 left, not too sure what to do.

This cuts better then any AIO I have ever used. I've been running it on my car since it came out and it's still holding up well and I'm using it in a sealant head to head a s it's doing great. It's supposed to last as long if not longer the M21. fr what I understand it's a completely new formulation built from the ground up.

I as well only do four passes for my AIO jobs and I have this as my higher end paint Enhancement package.

Here is the link to the information of the product.

IME 4 section passes with a cutting pad yields results similar to a compound, or at least a whole lot better than what D151 can usually do.

I did an AIO on this same Mercedes a few months back with D151 using the G21 w/LC HD Orbital Orange Polishing Pads and that combo wasn't able to get even 70% correction on this hood.
But D166 w/Meguiars Burgundy thin foam pads corrected it near complete and did so fairly easily.

... Now as far as longevity... I'll get back to that once I test it on more than 1 vehicle.

Ok I see your point about the price of the product...

Have you factored in the time saving? If D166 has a better cut, that means you can complete the detail faster, right? So that save you time and time is money. I am not sure how much faster it is compared to D151, but let's say you save 30 mins per detail, that is a lot of time out of a gallon of the product. Surelly you would have a win compared to the few extra bucks for the product... no?

I agree to a point. Not sure if 2X the product cost is worth it yet.

My neighbor's car, we did 1 pass on it with D166 yesterday, very impressed with the end result. This phone photo doesn't show the flake Subaru put into the paint, but as it got darker and the lights came on we were able to see it for the first time since he purchased the vehicle.

Going to try it on a black Infiniti Q series today, I've never worked this fast with a product.

That's impressive durability for a cleaner wax. I decided to pick it up at the last geek sale a couple of days ago.

This would be my 3rd cleaner wax I have m20 and m66. I know that out of the 3 m-20 has the least cut but, I love it the most but, i am dying to try D166.

I have

HD speed
M66
Menz 3-1
Griotsgarage finishing sealant
D151
Essance
McKees 360

Cut wise D166 is the best
Longevity wise McKees and HD lasted the longest, D166 still in testing

Ok. That's great. Thanks guys. Sounds like I will have no more use for D151.

Megs maroon has far more cut than HDO orange, not a fair comparison.

Yes I know. Not getting a true blue comparison is exactly what's sort of bugging me, but I didn't put that in my post because there's nothing I can do about it for now.

Meghan gave me a bottle to test, but I've only done 2 silver cars in descent shape and hard to photograph. I love the ease of use and shine. I want to test it on a darker color with lots of swirls and document it.

Same here, I'm going to use it on a white horse trailer soon. Next will be a dark gray 4Runner. Neither have ever had paint correction.

I might be able to get my hands on a 20+ year old Black Mercedes that probably has never had paint correction, it has been well cared for though.

I'm going to be using it on a few cars this weekend. So I'll document how it goes

I tested D166 on my Prius spoiler which is very high-gloss black and very soft composite (not metal) but it is CC over black paint. This was not a controlled test and not very scientific, just an activity I did in the late afternoon prior to shutting down my home detailing operation for the day.

This black spoiler swirls just looking at it. The sun was already too far down to take photos but half was with D166 and half was with 360. I used a white LC Thinpro pad with my GG3 set at 4. The 360 kicked butt over the D166. It was no contest. Again, this is totally unscientific with no controls in place. I'll try the D166 on the paint of my wife's Prius which is a few years older. It is in pretty good shape already but could probably use an AIO treatment before the winter.

Pics?

I have some but they suck because of no light. I went over the other half with 360 once I chose the winner. That was my plan all along. If D166 won I would have gone over the 360. It was getting dark so I had to hurry. Tomorrow I might think differently but I doubt it.

I've used it on several different cars so far, all at my expense since I'm still in evaluation mode. But from the initial examples I've done, my plan is to offer a better finish on daily driven cars for a small upcharge. Most of the daily driven cars I do are given Meguiar's #20 Polymer Sealant because they need a little cleaning. This D166 can deliver quite a bit more clarity, with the same protection, for only a slight increase in application time. As an example, we can apply #20 to an average size car in 20 minutes. It may take 40 with the D166, accounting for a little extra spin time. But I plan to upcharge $50. Customer gets a cleaner, clearer finish, and I make an extra buck.

And I love the smell!
