Meguiar's D166 Ultra Polishing Wax

I will be getting mine through my Megs distributor and trying it tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

ITS GOOD. It cuts a little more than PRC, it finishes out perfectly, it has a very good long buff cycle if needed, and wiped off easier than PRC or finishing wax. I would say Maguiars statements about the product all hold true.

The photos and posts I have seen on various media platforms looks promising.

I just got a bottle of this stuff. I didn't have time to put it through it's paces, but I wanted to see how easy it was to use. I put a few drops on a foam waxing pad, spread it around on a hot (just washed) panel...in direct sunlight. To say it came off easy is a ridiculous understatement. I decided to put some HD Speed on right next to it, and while both gave me excellent gloss and slickness, the D166 came off easier under these conditions. I have some correction to do on a Suburban next week...will report back on my results. So far, I'd have to say this is a winner.

I did a video side by side of D166 and SPEED

they both have a place on my shelf for sure and both for different reasons.

I wanted to provide everyone with an update.

I've been in contact with Markus Kleis (Global Product Manager for Meguiar's). He wanted to figure out exactly what happened with D166 and the feedback I had received.

Turns out there was some miscommunication between a Meg's rep, the Distributor that reached out to the Meguiar's rep(s) on my behalf, and relaying it back to me. Similar to what fellow forum member Dan (dlc95) said he experienced with other Megs sealants sweating, the Megs rep hadn't actually had any issue with D166 Ultra Polishing Wax sweating, but was familiar with my issue and had similar experiences with products like M66. I assume that is when he also gave the distributor recommendations on how he was able to work through it, like using a softer pad to see if that would resolve my issue.

At this point, it appears the "excessive sweating" I've had nearly every time I've used D166 isn't consistent with what everyone else has experienced, which leads me to believe the issues I'm having is isolated to my gallon. Markus is having customer service send me a new gallon and I am sending mine back to Meguiar's so the lab can run tests. He is also planning on calling me to talk me through my process to make sure I'm having as much success with D166 as he is.

Here are some more photo's showing current experiences with D166

I was using a brand new uro-tec yellow polishing pad on my G15 and just a small amount of D166 virtually soaks my pad and the rotation forces all of the water to the the outside of the pad. If ANY of you guys are experience sweating this extreme I would encourage you to get in touch with Mr Kleis as this is not a normal characteristic of D166.

Once all of the water dries the residue that is left behind is extremely difficult to remove without a quick detailer. This is also not a typical characteristic of D166

I will let you guys know what I think of D166 once I receive the new gallon. If I continue to have the same issues then we'll know the only feasible explanation left is that I REALLY suck at detailing and need to figure out a different way to support my family because I clearly don't have what it takes. haha

So..
I have experienced this as well with D166 and 66 but figured it was just because I live in the hot desert of California. I has not made it difficult to remove...yet but it does sweat bad. So I should send it back??

Okay...so I just went out to my truck...was checking the small area I'd put the D166 on...and I felt what I can only describe as 'grit'.....like I had some bonded contaminants that needed to be clayed......which I don't. Keep in mind, I only applied a small amount by hand and spread it....I did not work it like I normally would an AIO. Is it possible that what I'm feeling is abrasives that I did not break down? As a side note...the Speed was applied the same way...and it feels the same.
