Meguiars DA Microfiber Correction System

I was curious....I know Megs gives actual speeds (orbits per minute) for their own DA, but do we know what the equivalent speeds are on the original PC? PCXP? GG? etc.

Thanks

Personally I prefer a bug sponge. I have one of the orange brushes and it works great, but the bug sponge just works better for me. More surface area.

thanks for the response James, anything in particular you prefer? My B-Day is coming and the MF System is on the top of the list, need to be prepared :dblthumb2:

Question 1, walking out to the car isn't idiot proof, but the Meg's system is close if you watch the videos
2.the pc works great with this system
3.if he uses the whole system on most paint systems yes it will be hologram free
4. About 4-5 hrs is what I'm averaging using the compound and something to finish
5. Total time spent when you calculate every aspect of a rotary job vs this system in most cases I'd get better results faster with the da

Thanks for the answer.

My brother will be learning how to detail this summer so I will deal with major correction and big detail but I want to give him all the 1-step detail I have to do. So, I won't ask him to finish down to 106ff or stuff like this. I will take care of the more '' complicated'' stuff.

To be honest in a day of you training him he will be getting good results with the system on most paint surfaces

I have not found the cleaning brush on this site and does not seem to come in the Kits?

The Griot's DA OPM's are as follows:

Speed 1- 2500
Speed 2- 3360
Speed 3- 4220
Speed 4- 5080
Speed 5- 5940
Speed 6- 6800

Thanks Mark. I actually ordered a Griot's 6" even though I don't need it. I found a great deal on it. It will just be added to my 3" Griots, my 7424, Flex 3401, and the Flex P14-2-150. Now I will have another polisher so that when I do my friends car he can join in.

Do we have the same numbers for the 7424 and the Flex 3401? I have seen them floating around, but not in one place.

That's awesome, Don! :props:

So what's special about the Meg's backing plate that we need to buy over our current ones?

It's not that there's something "special" but if your current backing plate does not have "short loop" velcro on it, you'll need to buy one with the short loops in order to ensure that the pads don't overheat.

Ok, I will pick up some of the cutting pads and see if it works with my current LC backing plate.

What isn't clear to me is recommended size of backing plate vs pad size. My kit purchased here came with a 5 inch backing plate and 6.5 inch LC pads. Yet the a 6 inch Meg's backing plate is recommended with the 6 inch Meg's pads. I thought there should be some overlap.

That's odd. You shouldn't be using 6.5" pads with a 5" BP.

You know I noticed I have both 6 in and 6.5 inch pads. I may have picked up some larger ones by mistake. So I take it they should be the same size? That would explain my mushrooming pad problem! I might as well pick up the Meg's 6" BP assuming it works with LC pads as well.

That's the way Meguiar's sold DAs for years (and how I used my DA for years) -- 5" BP, 6.5" SoftBuff pad. Worked just fine.

Now, with more modern pad styles, you definitely don't want that much overlap.

Anyone have the velcro backing system torn from the cutting pad? I only used it twice but today the pad just flew off my Griot DA, speed when used was at 4

I had one start to separate. If you would have showed it to me I would've said someone removed it improperly as it just started in one spot near the edge. However, it was a first use and hadn't even been removed yet. Called Meg's Customer Service and they sent me a replacement 2-pack. No problems since with other MF pads.

Seem likes these pads not going to last very long, will call Megs see if I can get a replacement. Thanks
