Meguiars microfiber correction system can do this for you too!!

I'm a total newbie to correction and using a DA. I purchased a Griotts GG 6" DA And the Meguiar's DA MF system to use on my black 96 SVT Cobra. Reading this thread, that may not be a good match. The paint appears soft because it scratches easily. I have several other vehicles to try it on 1 st. But do you suggest I use it to compound on the cobra, but then use something else for the polish? I had planned on buying some LC 5.5" flat pads and thought of using WGDGPS but I'm open to suggestions from the experienced users here, especially Mr. Phillips. Thanks, Spiney-Dave

The Meg's MF system is legendary! Especially the MF cutting discs with M101, M105, or D300! Truly a game changer.

Thanks Alot sir, thats a great info :dblthumb2::applause:

So i can go with comb of M105 with DA polisher following any preferred polisher's and waxes right ?:buffing:

Follow with a finer pad and polish, then wax. :props:

I love this system, I use the cutting MF disc with D300 on my car and it finishes down LSP ready most of the time. I just throw BFWDPS and BFMS over top of it and its show car ready. I never use the D301 on my car but its great for just doing details for my friends and family, it gives good protection and decent gloss to any paint color.

But as its been stated, going with foam on the polishing stages is a must as it cleans up much nicer.

I'll stick to what I wrote in post #3, I've done a lot of testing on clearcoated black paint and I'm pretty confident of my findings plus Meguiar's recommendations are usually very well thought out for good reasons.

The LC 5.5" Flat Pads are the easiest to learn how to use, clean and perfect your machine techniques, they are the simplest form of foam pad and ideal for PC style tools like the GG 6" DA and the Meguiar's G110v2

The Meguiar's microfiber cutting pad and any of their SMAT compounds work great for getting expert results with little to no experience. If the paint is factory you can follow with the D301 and the MF finishing disc.

If you want you can cut with the compound and MF disc first and then finish out with a premium quality polish like something from the Menzerna line or the Pinnacle Twins, Pinnacle Advanced Swirl Remover and Pinnacle Advanced Finishing Polish.

The TSR and FG in the Wolfgang line also work really well as does the compound and polish in the Blackfire line as do the new and improved Optimum compounds and polishes.

The Optimum compounds and polishes are very easy to work with, they have long buffing cycles, easy wipe off and you really can't make a mistake with them...

I now, hard to narrow down to a single choice so take a chance and go with your research and instincts...

Pictures from Autogeek's Car of the Week

I document each of my write-ups with over 100 before, process and after pictures and they are the real deal with lots of details along with the tools, products and pads used.

Note: Most of the guys helping with these projects, not all but most... were all BRAND NEW to machine polishing and they are learning on high dollar eye candy. Not bad for first timers...

Three of the cars from these projects all took "Best in Class" at the recent "Super Chevy show", and the appearance of the cars, that is how the paint looked was a huge factor in all their wins.

3 "Best of Class" wins for Autogeek Forum Members at Super Chevy!

Heck, after that show, Super Chevy Magazine asked Tommy if they can do a feature on his car... he's now a sold out Pinnacle guy and has the trophies to prove it.

I agree. This is also why Meguiar's specifically markets this towards the production detailing industry, not the show car detailing industry. Keep in mind Meguiar's is a huge company in "this" industry and the offer,

Professional Line for fresh paint environments
Detailer Line for cured paint environment
Consumer Line for enthusiasts (cured paint environments)
Marine Line for boat enthusiasts (finished products i.e. watercraft)
Fiberglass Mold Release Line (OEM fiberglass products, i.e. making watercraft)
Plastics Line

And they use to offer a number of other lines, OEM, Furniture, Co-Label but I don't know the current status of these... point being that specific lines are formulated for specific needs. That doesn't stop the "enthusiast" or "detailer" segment of society from using product intended for a different industry but keep in mind there is a rhyme and reason for everything.

Foam for final, show car finishing
To date, I have still not found a better replacement for any paint system for the final machine polishing step other than foam. Foam has a uniform surface texture, fiber pads have individual fibers rubbing against the paint. There's a difference there...

Big picture, match the system to the job. Plus, if you use any MF systems, you can always use a foam pad an an ultra fine finishing polish like the Menzerna SF 4500 for your last machine step before going to your LSP

:xyxthumbs:

Mike, how does M205 on a white or red/blue foam pad compare to Menzerna SF 4500 when finishing after using the DA MF cutting disc/D300?

I have a gallon of 205 already and am curious if M SF 4500 is worth the purchase or can I get similar results with 205?

Thanx
