Hello everyone I am new to this forum and somewhat to auto detailing as a hobby. I need your help. I have a black 2008 Jeep wrangler JK that has a mikly haze to it. I had originally thought it was a bad clear coat but it removes and shines beautifully but with a lot of work. I had just bought and read Mike Phillips new detailing book which is great by the way and he really liked the Menzera system for products. I just bought the Blackfire black ice kit for black vechicles before I bought the book but have not used any of it yet and was going to buy some compounts to help make my job easier and wanted to know if I should get the Black fire compounds or Menzera compounds?
I also wanted to see if after compounding the Jeep if I should use the Wolfgang paiint sealant 3.0 or the Menzera paint sealant and then apply the Blackfire Black Ice carnuba paste wax. There are several Menzera compounds and if this is the way to go please tell me which ones I should start with or if I need to look at a different brand please let me know that as well. Thank you for any input you guys can share with me to help make my job easier. I am using a Dewalt rotary buffer and want to get an orbital. Does any one have any comments on the Porter Cable Orbital polisher offered at Autogeek. I am looking at that one. Thans a million

My understanding is that Menzerna makes both the wolfgang compound/polish as well as the blackfire compound/polish. Both are certainly well regarded with lots of posts on the forums.

I like to know exactly what I am getting, so I went with the menzerna branded products. I would say FG400 is well-liked for a compound, and SF4000 polish. (I believe both the blackfire and wolfgang polishes are the same sf4000).

Cant go wrong with Menzerna Powerlock or Wolfgang Deep Gloss. Both are very well liked. Blackfire Wet Diamond as well.

Re: Wax, I have no experience with black ice, many have been impressed. Wax choice will be quite controversial with no right answer however.

Like previously stated, you can't go wrong with either Menzerna/Blackfire/Wolfgang. I've used the wolfgang "twins" recently, I was really pleased them. I found them friendly to work with.

As far as topping, yes I would apply either sealant then top with the Black Ice.

I agree about Menzerna. It's pricey but buy from the source you know what.
As far as Black Ice. I can't say I buy into the whole "color specific" wax. You can't put black wax and red wax on your car and few would be able to tell the difference.
My issue with Black Ice the main wax is Montan which is derived from coal it's natural color is balck or dark brown. It's also much so softer then nuba and often used in it's bleached form to soften nuba waxes and make it easier to work with.
In the end you are getting a softer wax less protection and far less nuba content with Black Ice. I'm sure they throw some black fillers in there for show.
IMO- Black, orange, purple, red, green. Pick the best bang for your buck hands down

MEN30 gets you 30% off menzerna compounds, FG400 works great as well as PF2500.

Blackfire SRC Compund isn't as aggressive as FG400, but a bit more than SIP. It finishes better than both. Blackfire SRC Finishing Polish has a bit more cut than SF4000 and finishes as good, or better.

I'm a die-hard Menzerna guy, but Sonax Perfect Finish is rising very quickly on my list. Outstanding with either Rupes yellow or white pads. "The Twins" as mentioned above have always given me consistently good results as well. Never used a Blackfire product so cannot say. Best of luck to you!

Since you are just starting out the first step is to "calm you mind", as with so many quality products on this forum you will simply go bonkers trying to find "the right one", when over time you will realize there is no "best" or "perfect" product.

As far as sealants go, you absolutely cannot go wrong with Wolfgang or Blackfire.

As for product recommendations on your 2008 Jeep, probably best to post a couple of pics so everyone can provide you a better recommendation than just a "shot from the hip" based on words alone. That said, if you do have a lot of oxidation then a compound would be in order; so next step is to find out how aggressive of a compound you need. Again, we go back to the pics....

The Dewalt can get the job done, but will leave you with holograms. The PC is a good tool.

If I could go back i'd get the Flex. It's stronger with forced rotation. (From my understanding, forced rotation means it does not stop spinning, the Dewalt has forced rotation, the PC does not)

I haven't used one but the lifetime warranty with the Griots. Is hard to beat and I've read that it has more power than the PC.

Side Note: be careful learning on your car using a Dewalt. Because of burning through the paint.

If it's black paint, it'll bring out the gloss and correct your paint but will leave you with Holograms.

All this work can be done with a PC btw and it'll be easier and safer.

When you do correct your paint, seal it.
Menzerna Power Lock IMO

I am also a fan of Menzerna, from my understanding Menzerna is a professional line. And the others like Wolfgang are more house lines.

Haven't use them, but from what I have read they are good and get the job done.

Been letdown with practically all the BF products I've tried. Go with menzerna
