Most regretted detailing product purchase

So far, I'd have to say CG's Sticky Gel Wheel & Rim Cleaner. I like Meg's APC+ more. Oh well, at least I can use the bottle for something else.

Its definitely not as good as their Diablo but even that at price point tgere is probably better options

Really? I really like this product. Are you using it strait or diluted? I was planning on getting a gallon of it once the bottle ran out. What don't you like about it?

DP Krystal Vision Glass Cleaner. I bought it because I had my windows tinted and needed a non-ammonia cleaner for the tint. But this is stuff is hard to use. It sort of smears and takes twice as long to wipe off. You spray it and wipe, and it's still on the glass! Strange stuff. I guess I should just find another product....

EDIT - and as a total "doh!" moment I just read the description for Invisible Glass (which works great,) and it's safe for tinted windows. For some reason I thought it wasn't. Does anyone want an almost full bottle of Krystal Vision?

I was just reading an article on glass cleaning and realized I was using way to much product. Never used Krystal Vision Glass Cleaner but try it again, but this time don't saturate the glass with the liquid. (which I was doing with all glass cleaners) On the outside front windshield, 3 small squirts is more then enough. I was under the wrong assumption that more is better. YMMV.

Lake Country Glass Polishing Pads. I believed they directly damaged my glass. I will clarify in a new post later today.

DP wheel glaze pain in the @#$ to apply and remove. Maybe easier on rims with not alot of detail. Anyone wanna trade it :)

Sent from my DROID RAZR using AG Online

Well what a coinkidink, pinnacle is having some good sales today...With that being said, don't waste your money on pinnacle poly clay that light blue clay don't get it! I promise I've spent hundreds on this site and the only thing I can highlight to regret would only be that damn clay..It stuck to my paint so many times with mad clay lube. That mad me heated because the clay costs so much! I could've went to autoze foreal and picked up a fatter clay bar for a quarter of that price with better results! The OTC clay is just simply better than that weak pinnacle clay.

while i'm not completely dissatisfied with the metro blaster sidekick, it does work well to get into those tight areas where water hides (head/taillights, body seams, etc) which is it's intended use, but don't plan on trying to dry a whole car with it. buy a leaf blower instead if you are deciding between the two...

Funny you mention that. I did the same thing a while back, thinking these pads might work pretty slick to touch up a light wiper scratch on my car. After about 30 seconds of "polishing" I didn't notice the wiper mark so much because of all the new swirl scratches the pad put into the glass. Not exactly what I was hoping for :righton:

Fortunately, I've done plenty of scratch removal over the years and was able to repair the damage and remove the wiper scratch too... using my old Glasweld/IPS equipment. So much for the new pad taking the place of that stuff.

I would be interested to know exactly what polish these pads are designed to be used with, as when the get wet, the abrasion material that is adhered to the pad face begins to come off. This means you start buffing on the pad backing material. The CarPro pads seems to use a similar abrasion material (rayon?) on the pad surface but they are just designed correctly, so they work well.

***** Just wondering how many windshields are all jacked up from this.

BLACK WOW trim restorer. was not impressed. much better products out there.

What better products have you found? I was considering Black WOW after Back to Black and Black Restore both failed miserably. I REALLY want to get an effective product this time around.

Hey swanicyouth, sorry for the late reply.

I've used both full strength and 5:1. No luck. Could be that I have a defective sample - all solutions were clumpy/slimy; did not rinse clean. I was taken back by this as I've had nothing but positive outcome from their other products.

What do you recommend? I'm definitely open to suggestions of proper products that perform well without destroying the wallet.

Megs cleaner wax from O'rileys, got ripped off like 15 bucks more, also to add.

Turtle wax bug & tar remover
turtle wax cleaner wax
meguiar's ultimate paste "wax"
microfibers from autozone

Something is wrong with your product I think. I use it 5:1. It's the best deal out there. First I spray the wheel, then wash the face with a boars hair brush. It foams up really nicely. It also rinsed off fine like any other safe wheel cleaner. Next time I'm getting it by the gallon.

I am pretty happy with poorboy's trim restorer.
