My solution to $150 foam guns...

IMO before forking out 100$ plus for a foam gun, get an entire Karcher with the foam attachment for $120.

You guys know you can get on pine and get an attachment for $25 the goes off the pump before the hose. Google downstream soap.

Not bad for a Karcher $11 foam gun ..

Is that with a pressure washer? Because I'll be honest, that's about what I get with my Gilmour foam gun attached to a hose.

I just picked up one of the HD foam guns for use with APC / soap mix.

Compared to the AG type Foam cannon, it is not as good, but you are talking 1/5th the price.

Things I noticed ( when cleaning the chairs in the back yard ) Karcher 1800 PSI ( 1600 ? ) electric PW is what I am using.
- Don't recall the model, it is an early Karcher K type fitting on the wands, and fixed hose on the lance.

1. If you turn the nozzle to be vertical, it is like a 0* PW head.

2. I used the suggested ratio in this thread, 2 oz of PB Wash & Wax, and it got about the same as the picture above for foam output. Not bad, but not in the category of the foam cannon like AG sells.

3. I seem to go through more mix with the HD gun.
The jar is 8 or 10 oz and I used 2 oz of soap.
The foam cannon is 30 ( 32?) oz and I used 4 oz of soap.
To get the foam to sit on the surface I had to have the foam all the way on, and stand back a bit ( else the pressure would wash down the soap I just put on ).
The AG foam cannon, I don't need it all the way up ( actually if I do, the driveway looks like a Brady Bunch show excerpt ) and I can stand closer.

Is the HD one bad ? not by a long shot.
If you do not want to spend the money on the AG type foam cannon this is a good choice for 1/4 to 1/6th the cost.
You will use more product to get similar results, and depending on the car size, might need to reload soap on the fly.

I cannot recall where I have seen the jar opening at, something tells me this is a common jar thread that you might find a replacement for at an ACE, maybe some of the lawn sprayer jars ( if they are still around vs the hook a bottle up to a hose that is normally seen ). Not this brand, but looks like this, and would get the mix capacity closer to 20 to 32 oz ??

I got the gun for using a mix of APC / soap mix and for simple green ( for the turf in the back yard ), so for me it is a good 20.00 spent.

Assumption on my part, but I think if the PW was in the 1200 / 1400 range it might work better ( or if your PW allows the pressure to be dialed back ).
Don't know if this is really the case, I have no way of testing it. Just get this feeling from standing back further from the lawn chairs, and it seemed to hang better.

I like having both the G-Foam and the MTM Cannon for use with my HD Electric PW.

The MTM is great for light washing when it's just settled dust I'm dealing with.
I use it with CG Honeydew Snow Foam to put on a quick coat of foam, rinse it off with a 45 Deg nozzle with water from the CR Spotless
then straight to the Master Blaster to dry and finish with a ultra soft microfiber ... no hand washing at all and can do my car in less than an hour (record time for me).

When there's mud or muck involved, I switch over to the G-Foam with a 4:1 ratio of Hot Water and Megs Gold CW shaken well, (with a capful of Ultima UWWP concentrate added in for good measure).
It leaves a heavier coat of product on the paint for use with my two-bucket method of basically the same mixture I have in the G-Foam.
I then follow up with the same routine for drying as I do with the Quick-Foam-Wash above.

This method takes me at minimum 3 hours, but then again I'm working with a Pearl Black car that has ultra soft clearcoat so I have to be really careful and rinse the wash mitts a lot, like at least twice per panel.

I think the big difference in foam output for the G-Foam is the water.
When I use the G-Foam with the CR Spotless, I get lots of foam. Not like the MTM, but exactly enough for hand washing.
Using it with just regular tap water, not so much.

I bought one a couple of years ago and it does work rather well doesn't it...

I just used my G Foam again today and yeah it does do a decent job. However to get a good layer of soap on the car I have to open the valve all the way up and then the soap runs out really quickly. I had to full it up twice to get the entire car. I'm hoping the MTM hydro lance does a better job.

It does! :dblthumb2:

HAHAHAH Sean...somehow I knew you were going to chime in.

Here's a few photos of the G-Foam in action, courtesy of Chemical Guy's web site.
AFAIK, it all depends on the soap/wash being used.

Contractors were working on our neighbor's house last week I had just finished mowing the lawns and had left my garage door open Went into to get a drink and take a break Came back out and my brand new blower and brand new HD Electric PW were gone They had the nerve to enter the garage all the way to the back of it to take these items. Used each only once! Neighbor's security cam caught their truck on tape in front of our house but the point of view didn't show them entering the garage. Lesson learned. :(
