I just picked up one of the HD foam guns for use with APC / soap mix.
Compared to the AG type Foam cannon, it is not as good, but you are talking 1/5th the price.
Things I noticed ( when cleaning the chairs in the back yard ) Karcher 1800 PSI ( 1600 ? ) electric PW is what I am using.
- Don't recall the model, it is an early Karcher K type fitting on the wands, and fixed hose on the lance.
1. If you turn the nozzle to be vertical, it is like a 0* PW head.
2. I used the suggested ratio in this thread, 2 oz of PB Wash & Wax, and it got about the same as the picture above for foam output. Not bad, but not in the category of the foam cannon like AG sells.
3. I seem to go through more mix with the HD gun.
The jar is 8 or 10 oz and I used 2 oz of soap.
The foam cannon is 30 ( 32?) oz and I used 4 oz of soap.
To get the foam to sit on the surface I had to have the foam all the way on, and stand back a bit ( else the pressure would wash down the soap I just put on ).
The AG foam cannon, I don't need it all the way up ( actually if I do, the driveway looks like a Brady Bunch show excerpt ) and I can stand closer.
Is the HD one bad ? not by a long shot.
If you do not want to spend the money on the AG type foam cannon this is a
good choice for 1/4 to 1/6th the cost.
You will use more product to get similar results, and depending on the car size, might need to reload soap on the fly.
I cannot recall where I have seen the jar opening at, something tells me this is a common jar thread that you might find a replacement for at an ACE, maybe some of the lawn sprayer jars ( if they are still around vs the hook a bottle up to a hose that is normally seen ). Not this brand, but looks like this, and would get the mix capacity closer to 20 to 32 oz ??
I got the gun for using a mix of APC / soap mix and for simple green ( for the turf in the back yard ), so for me it is a good 20.00 spent.
Assumption on my part, but I think if the PW was in the 1200 / 1400 range it might work better ( or if your PW allows the pressure to be dialed back ).
Don't know if this is really the case, I have no way of testing it. Just get this feeling from standing back further from the lawn chairs, and it seemed to hang better.
