Need advice with polishing black car

Yea I know all about DA Haze and marring just never encountered this before... What showed up on my hood is definitely not haze.

This pic shows what I'm taking about, it was hard to capture...Don't mind the heavy scratches and burnt clear, this was just a test for m101.

In this pic I placed a quarter on one of the lines and then took a pic. But paint just looks flawless¿

Just downloaded it. Gotta figure out how to save it to my Ipad now. Also is there a way to disable the password? Ebook looks great, Lots of valuable info. Thanks a million

You can load it on your iPad/iPhone my transferring it via iTunes sync (books/pdf section) or simply download it on your device. The book will open up in a pdf reader or iBooks (my personal preference).

1. Open iTunes and click on the "File" menu
2. Select "Add to library", a window will open for you to use to locate the pdf file that you saved on your computer. Select it. (The PDF will be added to your "Books" library.)
3. Connect your iPhone/iPad to your computer and select it.
4. Click on the "Books" tab and select sync books, and check the box by "Art of Detailing".
5. Click the "Sync" button and allow device to sync.
6. Once done syncing, open "iBooks", there are 3 buttons at the top, select the middle button "Books". This will slide open a window for you to use to select between Books or PDFs. Select "PDFs".
7. Select the Art of Detailing that is displayed, it will open and just simply enter your email address for the password and you are done!

Seems like you have the same problem I have. I'm picking up a bottle of finishing polish tomorrow and will post pictures of the end results.

I can chime in with my own experience, even though its only on my black BMW. Whenever I polish that car, I always finish with SF4500 or Optimum Finish Polish and a black/grey CCS pad. That combo seems to finish well on black for me without any haze or tic marks.

Optimum Finish polish is a bit easier to use the the SF4500 and you use it very sparingly.

I emailed Yancy for the Kendle and then found this. maybe he can verify this will work.

DRM encoded files for kendle fire. also for non Fire kendles go here :How to Access a Password-Protected PDF on a Kindle | Chron.com

THis is for the Fire though.
Step 1

Click on the "Apps" tab from the Home page to open the Apps menu.

Step 2

Click the "Store" link in the top right corner of the page to access the Kindle Apps store.

Step 3

Type qPDF Viewer in the "Search" field.

Step 4

Tap the "Free" button next to the qPDF Viewer line. The "Free" button will change to "Install."

Step 5

Tap the "Install" button. The app will download and install to your Kindle Fire. When finished, you will see an "Open" button.

Step 6

Tap the "Open" button to start the app.

Step 7

Tap the "Accept" button to accept the Terms and Conditions. You only need to do this the first time you open the app.

Step 8

Tap the "Open" button to select a PDF to open.

Step 9

Tap on the PDF you want to open. You will see a dialog asking you to enter a password.

Step 10

Type in the password.

Step 11

Tap the "OK" button to open your PDF.

I will try this tonight when I get home. Iknow they want to keep the copywrite on this electronic format so it can not be put on a free site. I do not blame them for it at all.

Ultimate Compound cleans up nicely so I use it most of the time using an orange pad followed with m205 using a white pad.
I don't use a lot of pressure on my DA, IMO if you get too aggressive that's when you run into problems.
When using the m205 I use even less pressure and get the results I want.

I now follow it by Griots Paint Sealant,Chemical Guys EZ Cream Glaze and Meg's NXT wax.

Another thing I do that helps me out is that I don't over work the product, I don't do more than four passes, ever.

You use Ultimate compound first? Then M20? isn't that working backwards?

Whereas on most forums you get one-liners or told to use the search button, we practice actually posting real information.

Not to hijack the thread, but can I just take the time to say thanks for this right here?

I've been on many forums. I moderate one decent sized one, in fact. Nothing irks me more than mods and members who just beat up on everyone. Moving a thread if it kind-of sort-of maybe belongs somewhere else, closing any thread if at some point in the last 50 years someone somewhere has asked a similar question, and shouting 'search' all the time.

You know the worst part about the 'search' shouting? It makes the search function useless. Here at AGO, I can learn so much just by skimming through threads and using search. On other forums, where the search-Nazi's are present, all the search function does is bring up page after page of useless, closed threads with members demanding this poor fellow use the (usually pretty crappy) search function.

On the forum I moderate (where I actually have some knowledge to contribute instead of just learning, like here :) ) I really take pride in repeating my answers. I've answered the same question dozens of times. Why? Because it doesn't take any more effort to do that than to demand they use search. And in the end, the user gets their answer, and we go away happy. (AND, Google searchers will find answers, not 'use search', meaning they are more likely to join the forum! Im the MAN )

So anyway, rant over. I just wanted to make sure to tell y'all that I appreciate how this forum is run in that sense. I'm also on another forum, one related to my car, and it is awful. Tons of bashing to use the search, bashing anyone who isn't already an expert, and the one that irks me the most; every forum and subforum is FULL of 'MOVED:' tags. Even cases of a single thread being moved several times by different mods. And we're not talking about something blatant, like, gen 2 discussion in the gen 3 forums. We're talking about stuff like, a guy has an issue with his gen 3 transmission; so it's moved to 'general issues'. Then someone else moves it to 'transmissions' but then finds out he has an aftermarket clutch so yet another mod moves it to 'mod issues'. Ridiculous!

Okay, okay, okay. Back to your regularly scheduled programming.

If I get these micro mar marks from cutting compound and a MF pad that is ok? Then I clean them up with polish pad with a polish? I think I'm on the right track

No he's going the right direction. Ultimate Compound is a compound similar to 105, but a little less agressive. 205 is a finishing polish. The compound knocks out the defects and then the polish cleans it all up and makes it shiny.

That's the way to go bro! If you compound and leave haze, polishing will remove the haze. I ended up having to do that on a Kia I did a bit ago. Compound with uber, polish with finishing glaze, seal.

To really make black talk adding a step to the process can really make a difference.

Do the M105 (UC), M205 with a polishing pad....

Then again with M205 use a finishing pad going over it again, then put on the LSP.

No, always use a compound before a polish.
In my case I used UC to remove defects and 205 to polish to a high shine.

M205 will give it that wet look that is LSP ready, it's really awesome stuff. :dblthumb2:

Personally I believe M205 is very versatile in that it can be used from removing light defects to jeweling. :)

Very well put - I too have come across this all too often.

With all due respect, is it not better to say always start with a polish and then move to a compound, only if and when required?

In other words, always start with the least aggressive method first?

If indeed the OP does have soft paint, then starting with something even as relatively mild as UC is, in my opinion overkill and if the paint truly is soft, the overly aggressive nature of the product would have removed more clear than what is necessary.

I am not sure how soft Honda paint actually is, but I have detailed a few Subaru's with soft paint, and the one was corrected with nothing more than Menz SF4000 on a Crimson LC pad and a DA. http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/show-n-shine/67270-obsidian-black-subaru-impreza-sti-detailed-lawrence.html

I get though that IF a compound is necessary you may need to perform a follow up polish to restore gloss. A good example of that was when I was detailing a friends black VW Polo http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/show-n-shine/71429-black-magic-pearl-9n-polo-detailed-lawrence.html

Here you can see the left side after Ultimate Compound (notice how the uncorrected side actually appears more black)

And then after following up with Menz SF4000

I don't know if I would say UC it's mild seeing as how it's just a small step up from 105 if I remember the chart correctly.
