Need the right wax

:iagree:

The more pads you have the easier it is as you con keep switching to a new pad that is fresh so it doesn't get over loaded.

Also a note on over loaded pads, when your pads are loaded up they will start to generate a lot of heat and heat is bad. all the heat can cause the pad to delaminate from the velcro backing which is a bad thing.
Wow I really never would have thought of that! Looks like I'm going to be redoing my car lol that might be the solution to my whole problem hmm
What's the order you should go in exactly swirl remover polish sealant then wax I was told you do wax last since the life of the wax is shorter than the sealant once the wax wears off you'll still have the protection of the sealant

Well the normal process should look like this:
1. Wash
2. Decontamination (claying)
3. Test spot to determine the course if action
4a. Compounding (if needed)
4b. Polishing (if no compounding is needed start with this)
5. Glaze (if you desire)
6. Paint sealant (let cute for 12 hours)
7. Wax

Ok what's a good glaze?
And when you say cure don't wipe off for 12 hours the. Wipe off an wax

If I use Blackfire BlackIce Montan Sealant Wax do I need to clay and polish before I use it everytime or just before the initial use? Also, what would be a good wax to top this with or is that necessary?Feed back please

I personally always clay at least before applying a new wax or sealant as well as put an ounce or two of APC in my wash bucket just to help clean the paint off. And no need to top it with another wax. 2 coats of Black Ice will do spaced 12 hours apart or so.

Chemical Guys Blacklight is a good glaze/sealant.

Curing means apply, then wipe off, then wait 12 hours before applying the next product or layer. Do not leave it on for 12 hours before wiping.

If your using BFBI then this should be the top layer. I use Blackfire Wet diamond the top that with BFBI.

If your keeping good maintenance on the paint then you should not need to clay before every application of BFBI just the first initial application.

I agree here with Blacklight. I person treat Blacklight as a glaze and not a sealant. I think you get much better results when your treat it as a glaze than as a sealant.

I agree with Blacklight I would never leave it on it's own and expect it to protect for an appreciable amount of time. I do find 2 coats works better though just to ensure coverage but I don't leave any cure time as soon as I wipe off the first coat the second one goes on.

Ok dumb question what is APC and BCB and you are talk about using black light on top of the sealant?

APC = All Purpose Cleaner

BFBI BlackFire BlackIce.

I wasn't talking about Blacklight as a topper for a sealant. Blackerfire BlackIce can be used as a topper which someone had asked about it.

You should use Blacklight as a glaze. One or two applications right in a row let each sit for 20 mins and then remove and proceed to your sealant application.

Sealant apply to the entire car the remove. If you want a second application of your sealant wait at least 12 hours before you apply the second coat.

If you want to top the sealant with a wax the wait 12 hours then apply your wax.

Sorry to make you repeat yourself just making sure I do this RIGHT I really want to get the right techniques down with the right products

Just got to your PM and just to note, I never mind getting PM's I just prefer they are like yours, that is a giving me the link to a thread on the forum. Not a PM with questions that should be posted to the "public" forum. (There's a difference).

Anyway, sorry for the late reply, you posted this thread on Sunday and sent the PM on Sunday and I try to take Sunday's off to spend with family and friends, kind of recharge the battery type of stuff.

Looks like Evan and others have you all taken care of... a couple of comments...

I own a cyclo orbital polisher using the blue pads

I was hoping that maybe there were a SLIGHLTY more aggressive to get the heavier swirls out.

Definitely get some of the Cyclo Yellow foam cutting pads like you see me using in this article, or even the orange pads as pad type is a HUGE factor when it comes to removing swirls.

How To Use The Cyclo Polisher

More pads is better... let your budget be your guide...

Very good point. Pads that become saturated or wet with product will hold heat better than dry pads and over time PLUS the oscillating action of the tool you can cause pad de-lamination.

Cyclo pads are unique in that they are cemented together with adhesive and the hook material is also sewn to the foam for better durability and longer life.

:)

Thanks a lot Mike! I totally understand the need to recharge you replied faster than I expected actually :)
I do love my cyclo but getting used to it and learning how to use it had been the challenge it seems so thanks for the video and all the other replies I got helped TREMENDOUSLY I notice today when I was polishing a vehicle pretty soon I think ill have the confidence to do a nice vehicle instead of cars that have been neglected but make great practice I also got the meguiars 205 polish and ill be ordering more pads tomorrow thanks again EVERYONE

Practice makes perfect....

Stick with it...

:dblthumb2:

So to take care of the swirls start with a light polish or what I think best if that doesn't work go to the next or start with a compound then swirl remover then polish then sealant and last wax?
Do you have any links as far as techniques with the cyclo?

Try a polish first and check your results if that not cuutting it bump up to a compound then polish

I love Chemical Guys EZ Cream Glaze, the price is really good but the glaze is outstanding, spread it then wipe off, no need to let it dry.
You'll get an amazing shine:)
Smells just like a grape pop.
