Got a chance to use the new compound on a hood today, very nice product. Cuts FAST finishes really well, and wipes off like a breeze. So far, so good.
Glad your liking it.

The intensive polish is not the old compound, I used it on a Corvette yesterday and it was busting swirls easily and finishing excellent. The old compound I never used much because it hazed a lot.
Very important to me. Most compounds tend to dry out fast or stick to paint, IME.and wipes off like a breeze.
Huh? You mean the Intensive Polish is not the old (blue) compound, right? Because on the Optimum forum they explained with the introduction of the new (white) Hyper Compound, that the previous (orange) Hyper Compound was being renamed Intensive Polish.
Optimum Polymer Technologies said:New Product Announcement:
The New Optimum Hyper Compound is the fastest cutting compound in the marketplace that leaves a great finish with minor marring. The new Hyper Compound is the only compound that can remove 1,000 grit or finer scratches in 1-2 passes using the new Hyper Wool Foam Pad on Zentool DA Polisher. Follow up Hyper Compound with Hyper Polish and the New Black Waffle Foam Pad for a perfect finish with one or two passes.
The previous version of Hyper Compound is still available and has been renamed as Optimum Intensive Polish which is a great product for one step compounding that leaves a great finish.
Ron@Optimum said:This is a total reformulation of Hyper Compound to increase it's cut. The previous formula Hyper Compound has been renamed Intensive Polish and as you said, it slots between the 2 Hypers. The original Hyper products were specifically designed for the body shop market but not limited to them. The new wool pad may be used with rotary or DA and depending on the polish and/or machine (and speed) it can used for heavy correction or to finish (though probably not a "fine finish").
I don't know, everything you posted there was consistent--it was VP Mark who said "the Intensive Polish is not the old Compound"...I have to believe that he never got the "new" orange compound because he said "The old compound I never used much because it hazed a lot."
PS I guess the "maddening" thing to me is that they weren't thinking far enough ahead to know that they were going to be adding the new (white) Hyper Compound and just call the orange one Intensive Polish last year when they changed it from blue.
The intensive polish...I used it on a Corvette yesterday and it was busting swirls easily and finishing excellent.
Just got information from a reliable source at Optimum. Blue is still hyper polish; unchanged. The previous orange hyper compound is RENAMED to Intensive polish. The white hyper compound is a brand new formulation.
Did you follow with something else? Or was the finish adequate on that hard Corvette paint?
It finished great, just as good as regular Hyper Polish. Looking forward to trying it on a Black BMW Monday to see if it will finish as well on a softer clear.
If the new Intensive Polish is the old hyper compound renamed then I would like to hear that directly from Dr. G, other wise I will not believe it. It has a completely different consistency, smell, does not haze like the old hyper compound did, and is much easier to remove.
So, 4 different employees of OPT are going to lie?If the new Intensive Polish is the old hyper compound renamed then I would like to hear that directly from Dr. G, other wise I will not believe it. .

Did you hear it from Dr. G? He is the one that actually creates the formulas.
And he wouldn't enlighten his employees?
