New/Old Project Truck 2000 Silverado

That seems like a pretty good price for such a big item.

How does any dirt tracked inside by the tires affect things? Is that a big deal or no?

Not sure. I swept it out before spraying

Not too light I see.. I completely agree. Actually, that dude Fozzy drives me a bit crazy with his preaching of a “light coat” and I’ve never experienced any better results by starting off that light.. It’s never resulted in it being peelable like they claim.

What? Are you saying the light coat is for peeling better?

I’m pretty sure it’s for a tack coat so it sticks better to give the wet coats a better base to adhere to

I’m know they say multiple subsequent thick layers = easy peeling, but I’m pretty sure I’ve heard him say that spraying that 1st layer light also has something to do with it later being able to peel as advertised.

I could be wrong, but I researched pretty hard prior to Plasidipping my 1st time. Now you’re making me want to go look at videos again just to see if I can find him saying it. Lol

I’ve watched and rewatched most of them. Especially the ones about dipping your own car. I’ve never heard that

Not spraying enough product total=poor peeling ability

You’re probably right.
But you can bet if I have a minute later today I might sneak in one of those videos just to see if I get lucky and find it.lol.

I’ve got at least 14 layers on my grill and it’s hella thick, yet I can’t peel off more than maybe a centimeter at time.lol.

I tried once and gave up after about 10min. and about a fingernails worth of plastidip peeled off and decided to just re spray over it. Turned out just fine in my eyes.

Not sure what went wrong. My car peeled fine after years and it had their clear coat too

I don’t coat coats though.

I was initially trying to peel off the original coating of Plastidip. I decided to coat over it once I found out peeling it off and starting from scratch would require too much work in my situation.

It was 3 days.
Day 1 I went to work at 4pm as well
Early am to sunsets day 2-3

I’m exhausted

I’m confused… You said you were going to paint it red, but then you painted it blue. But now it’s red? How and why?

It’s plastidip
The blue is reflection from tent
The dark gray coats are the base color (think like primer but it’s to build thickness to make it peelable)
Then lava red top color
Then topped with their new red body armor bed liner textured coating
