New Product - Optimum Opti-Coat 2.0

What might be beneficial is if OPT can do two videos; one a proper application, and two an application where you must go back and "level" the product. I think the demonstration would eliminate a lot of the questions you are getting.

I prefer the Power Clean wash and rinse method because for me time is money.

Okay, this is probably another dumb question of mine, but you should know by now that I'm not afraid to ask dumb questions. What is the Power Clean wash and rinse method? Do I use Power Clean like I would use a regular car wash shampoo or do I wash my car with a regular shampoo and then spray and wipe OPC like it's a QD? I've never used OPC before so I don't know if it offers enough lubricity to be used like a shampoo.

Wash with Power Clean, rinse with water.

Any response?

I have used it on wheels with no issue. Never thought to use it on calipers or like someone else asked, wheel wells. I will ask Dr G what the heat tolerance is when he gets back from Detailfest.

I don't mind the questions. And the flashing is too hard to capture on video. You can see a rainbow effect, then it disappears...if it doesn't disappear in 5 minutes, use the applicator to spread the thick spot out a bit and it will also go clear. It's really easy.

You can kind of see what it looks like flashing in this video using Opti-Seal

Talk is cheap, Opti Coat spent years in development and testing. Look around on the forums, there are plenty of reviews with pics and durability updates.

Yes, it's there until you abrade it off. Some have reported beading to fall off after a period on the windshield, but constant wiper friction can do the same effect as abrasives over time.

Opti Coat goes on a little blurry, but not hazy at all. You will see that with nano sealants that have to be buffed after setting up for a while. OC is not a sealant. It actually reacts with and becomes part of the finish. As the carrier flashes off you will see some rainbow effects. As these disappear OC drys completely clear. Any rainbow left after 5-10 minutes needs to be evened out with the applicator. You have up to 30 minutes or so to even out Opti Coat 2.0 while the original needs to be fixed within 2-5 minutes or it's there.

I usually charge $150-$200 for an average vehicle. This is above all the cleaning and correcting fees. Others have posted $300-$500 but as easy as it is to apply, I couldn't sleep at night charging that. These prices are based on the pro version. Since the consumer version cures slower, you'd have to keep the vehicle longer to ensure the custom didn't compromise it while it cures. Feel free to offer it any way you like.

Cool, thanks Chris. I'm gonna purchase some of this stuff and put it on my own car. If I like it....I'll surely offer it to my customers.

The price range you charge is right about what I was thinking. The $150-$200 range sounds about right to me. :dblthumb2:

This could be a terrible question, but what about using this on the inside of a throttle body or other parts like it? I hate cleaning mine, but i hate rough idles and bad gas mileage more.

..Other methods of prepping are Dawn washing and Prepsol. IPA and Prepsol can lift waxes then allow them to redeposit if not wiped well or rinsed so again, I prefer the Power Clean wash and rinse method because for me time is money. I understand your concerns to get it right with the word permanent in the equation, but it really couldn't be simpler to work with and after you apply it ONE time, you will know you overthought it. ..

was pondering while doing IPA and shifted to dawn washing, rinse and repeat. :xyxthumbs: better than IPA.

For those who have already used Opti-Coat.

How does it protect against water spots and the famous bird bombs ?

Does it slow down the etching process ?? Sacrificial Barrier, etc.

I have the same question but expanded:

> Shelf life unopened (new package)
> Shelf life after opening/one use and cap replaced tightly
I asked the shelf life question to Dr. G at DF this weekend and he mentioned this is the reason for the syringe delivery method, as it keeps the product sealed better than other way. I don't remember his exact words, but essentially my walk-away impression was that there is indefinite shelf life when kept in the syringe. I was concerned about the life after opening and in general, since my first use of the product was going to be on smaller surfaces rather than a whole vehicle, so it would be unfortunate to have a large volume go bad. I was satisfied that the unused product would keep just fine and picked some up at the show.

Chris, can it be applied over a clear bra? Also, some one asked about putting it over a gel coat for boats?

I've applied it over the clear bra on about 6 cars now with no issues at all. Been on my car for about 9 months. :props:

I think everyone at Detail Fest really wanted this product, I noticed we are about cleared out of stock, thank goodness for a follow up order!

Can this be used on exterior plastic, like windshield cowlings, rocker panels, side mirrors and hubcaps?

In the DF class with Dr.G, said that it was not intended for glass, and Mike kinda said it for him, that you're on your own when it comes to using it on glass because of the possible glare effect that could occur. Pretty much Dr.G said that you can use it on anything as long as you want it to have a shine to it. Someone in the class asked about matte finish like racing strips and the consensus was ask the customer before applying it and always do a test spot if you aren't sure you will want the effect that it will leave. Just imagine putting clear coat over something. If you would clear coat it, then Opti-Coat it.:)

I always apply OC on glass. Can't imagine glare being a problem; especially with all the sun down here. You can apply it to just about any surface that doesn't flex as the coating can get damaged from it.
