New Word of the Day

Freud's[/U]..."The Ego and the Id"...he set forth his theories on the psychological differences, and thus, behaviors of humans in regards to the conflict between one's self-interest (egoism) and their instinctual trends/drives (Id).

Several variables got me to thinking about switching methodology: 1. The client did not fit my regular client profile(were not retired and had young children). 2. Their possesion of 3 so-called high end badges (did fit the profile; even though a car is a car in my book). 3. My desire to have them as a maintenance customer. 4. Galatians 6:7-8.

The id and the ego battled to the end...and the id prevailed...and the ego takes a back seat once again ~ this was almost never the case when I was RV detailing, with a few 4-wheelers thrown in.

Ethical egoism...Claiming that a person ought to do what is in their own self-interest.Wolf in sheeps clothing. Had them hooked after discussing processes and results.

Rational egoism...Claiming it is only rational that a person should act in one's self-interest. Potential loss of $60 - as opposed to financial monthly gain if they add the other two vehicles. No brainer.

And...Speaking of dreams:

I always enjoyed listening to Annie Lennox' refrains of:

"Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree"?

I have been contemplating this post for a while now. Trying to put my thoughts into words.
Perfect song for someone having to find new customer base. I have been on both sides of the use/abuse chorus :(. Hopefully, all will work out in the end.

Having said this, I still cannot see the altruism here. Maybe I am still guided by the egoism($$$)? Gotta hit the hay... after a quick run through today's posts. Thanks for the guidance and the research.

Thank you FUNX725 and VT with your wonderful contributions!

Gamut (gam-uht)

Definition: range

Source: Thesaurus.com

A rotary buffer has a larger gamut of correction possibilities over a traditional DA polisher, however only a seasoned detailer should ever use such a potent machine.

Gamut (gam-uht)

Definition: range

Dodo Juice has an offering in their car-care product line-up called the: "Straight Eight Kit"...That has been described as to "run the gamut" of enhancing vehicles' paint 'color-schemes'...That is, from, and throughout, the gamut of the associated, color-wheel-spectrum's: Tints, shades, and tones.

Dodo Juice Straight Eight Kit, dodo waxes, Dodo Juice Wax Sampler Kit, carnauba waxes, dodo wax kit, dodojuice, car wax kit, hard waxes, soft waxes

Gamut: a complete range or extent.

After the final straw, I had to endure the gamut of the better half's rants; it all started with the last UPS delivery.:nomore: :argue:

On a side note: making up is worth all of the hassle.

Have a safe and prosperous weekend.

Def: characterized by success or good fortune .

A "new word of the day" for: 03.17.2012; and being that it's St. Patrick's Day:

Bilious

Definition(s):
1. Of, relating to, or containing bile; biliary.
2. Resembling bile, especially in color: a bilious green.
3. Having a peevish disposition; ill-humored.

Early this morning, as a good customer of mine, that I'll call Joe, stepped out of his vehicle, (that I had detailed last month), I noticed a peculiar green aura about his head and shoulders.

Immediately I thought of two things:
-He wasn't feeling very well...(He'd already been "partaking" in celebrating St. Paddy's Day events.)
-This was his imitation of his neighbors' "green-with-car-envy"

But I soon found out that I was badly mistaken...He was in no mood for my jesting.
In fact his quite alarming, bilious behavior was, as I soon found out, due to the reappearance of the CC paint defects I was to have "detailed out"!

No matter my insistence that: indeed his vehicle had been detailed 'to the nines'...His foul, (like backed-up bile), disposition was not to be abated!
Cautiously, I inquired of him his vehicle's maintenance-program upkeep; and, that I would like to have another go at it at no cost to him.

Joe instead, in so many terms, asked for the return of his hard earned green.
Sadly, there goes that pot-of-gold. I'm just glad he didn't have a shillelagh handy!

Sorry to hear of your misfortunate dealings with such a cad.

It never ceases to amaze me how certain holidays are marginalized; and others get the full blown blitz from the alcohol industry and marketing. I guess having lived in a party town, it was the marketing machine/casino-tourism industry behind every promotion.

Have a great day forum friends.

Thank you both for your contributions! I am late today! =(

^^^^Thanks for this word and its definition. I've often seen it spelled as dilatary...But that usually refers to pupil dilation in alcohol addiction study-group subjects. (Based solely on what I've heard.)

Anyway: I do hope you have a little non-busy time to enjoy some of your 3-day weekend, Tundra_10!

{Depending on the weather, you may find yourself inclined to prorogate a few of the chores. I know I would! LOL }

:)

The new hired hand was let go due to his dilatoriness.

New Word of the Day: 3/18/12 ... where is this month going?!?! Wow!

Emulsion (ih-muhl-shuhn)

Definition:
1.Physical Chemistry . any colloidal suspension of a liquid in another liquid.
2.such a suspension used in cosmetics.
3.Pharmacology . a liquid preparation consisting of two completely immiscible liquids, one of which, as minute globules coated by a gum or other mucilaginous substance, is dispersed throughout the other: used as a means of making a medicine palatable.
4.Photography . a composition sensitive to some or all of the actinic rays of light, consisting of one or more of the silver halides suspended in gelatin, applied in a thin layer to one surface of a film or the like.

I should have had a St. Patties Day WoD, alas I failed so this one is a delayed reaction...

Yesterday at the bar there were many emulsive acts going on around. My favorite emulsion would be what is affectionately called "black velvet", sometimes called "snake bite". It is comprised of Woodchuck Apple Cider, and Guiness is poured on top. Oh, if made right it is so wonderful! It takes a tad of the bitterness/ edge from the Guiness and takes the super-sweetness from the Woodchuck Apple Cider. You can literally "chug" this beer like water it is so smooth.

How much wood could a Woodchuck chuck,
If a Woodchuck could chuck wood??

I don't clearly remember how many "black-vevet-emulsions" I imbibed last evening...But a drinking buddy of mine says the "party-photographs" should make for interesting conversation, (and evidence, if so needed)!

Darn that Draught!!

Since my drinking days are far behind me, I can recall some events with a little more clarity.

Q ? Shot glass dropped in whiskey or beer back.

Either way, I have never successfully partipated in either. Always one or the other. Weak constitution I guess.
Crown Royal with a Dos Equis back, always ended in a blackout for me.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend Tundra 10.

FUNX725, you need to post some of those pics up! haha!

VT, so far the weekend is going well, thank you. I am pretty much on track with what I was hoping to get done and I am hoping the momentum keeps up through today and tomorrow before my 3-week visitor arrives.

My neighbor is trying to slow me down by bugging me about a car he is trying to sell. I told him I would do a paint correction for him but he got annoyed when I told him I would charge him. Clearly he does not realize how little free time I have and even to offer to give it up is nice enough, especially since I help him out A LOT. I gave him some suggestions and now he is outside struggling with results and belly-aching about how he should have just bought what he is used to using. Oh well, lol.

Anyway, you all enjoy the rest of your day! I might be on a little later but it will definitely be later then sooner!

Won't be posting until later in the day tomorrow.

Solicitous: extremely careful; meticulous.

^^^^^^^I fully agree with this!^^^^^^^

Some of my interpretations from Shakespear's play..."King Lear" (Act I, Scene I.):

(Note:My prefacing)
This happened while King Lear was dividing his kingdom between his daughters:

A.)
After King Lear's daughter Cordelia had fallen from his grace by, according to the King...Cordelia's nugatory responses to his question:
"Although the last, not least; to whose young love the vines of France and milk of Burgundy strive to be interess'd; what can you say to draw a third more opulent than your sisters? Speak".

B.)
He then desired to have either of the above mentioned suitors to take Cordelia away, forever, from his sight ("Better thou hadst not been born than not to have pleased me better".)

C.)
To the King of France, during King Lear's: Suitor-selection 'debate'...Cordelia expressed her feelings as such:

"But even for want of that for which I am richer, a still-soliciting eye, and such a tongue as I am glad I have not, though not to have it hath lost me in your liking?".

{BTW... From what I could tell: The King of France was the "winner" of Cordelia's hand (and dowery)}
