New Word of the Day

The much convivial customer added at least an hour to the detail session with all of her pleasantries and questionings.

:nomore: :autowash:

Seems that I missed the 20,000th views approaching.

Promulgate (prom-uhl-geyt)

Definition: make known

Source: Thesaurus.com

The detailer promulgatedhis expertise and work by showing a portfolio of his prior experience. He did this to show his possible clients he was not full of flapdoodle.

Today on May 23...

1788 South Carolina becomes 8th state to ratify U.S. Constitution

It's pleasing to see Joe@Superior Shine promulgate his beliefs.

Detailers exhibiting articifer traits are widely sought after by the custom vehicle market in most demographics.

A "new word of the day" for 06.01.2012:

Eudaemonics (yoo-di-mon-iks)

Definition:
1. Pertaining or conducive to happiness.
2. The art or theory of happiness

Some sources for attaining "personal happiness", either scholary; or, perhaps, even titillating:

But for those in the 'Detailing-Community', perhaps the following is more apropos for their "higher degree of happiness":
(Allowance to paraphrase (plagerize?), or otherwise 'tweak' the title of Mr. Phillips book??...Thanks!!)

Thank you guys for keeping this thread going! FUNX725, that was a nice plug for Mike's book! I think any further compensation he gets you should get a kick-back!

Well guys I think I am going to be back for a few weeks and then gone again for another week. My relationship has already fell flat on its face after a couple months. Guess I should have expected this when things were too good to be true. Now I am trying to justify these last couple months was worth the 2k I have spent on flying out there and little gifts for her and such. Ugh. Friggin' women! Anyway, it might take me a couple days to get back into the swing of things and like I said I will be out again for about a week to go visit my family. I have not seen them in over a year and a half so I am excited for that!

During these current, and most difficult of economic-times,
I've often resorted to different means to "make ends meet".

As such, I am always welcome to "offers", in order to supplement my income.

BTW, Tundra_10: Very sorry to hear of your relationship muddle with the girlfriend.
Your spirits, no doubt, will be lifted upon your visit with the relatives.
Keep a stiff upper lip, as the saying goes. :)

I had quite the eudaemonic day until the rains started. :cry:Later went grocery shopping with the
picture.php
, followed by a trip to Staples, and a quiet dinner out.

Full weekend scheduled, hope all is well with NWoD'ers!

Credulous (krej-uh-luhs)

Definition: gullible, naive

Source: Thesaurus.com

I was credulous to think that this relationship was going to work, just as the detailer was credulous to understand that todays customer is not educated when he tried to "pull a fast one" on him.

Today on June 2...

A prized possession...Likened to: "A member of the family".

Incredulously as it may seem, on June 2, 1910, human beings, previously unknown to exist in the World at that time, were discovered to be living in Dutch New Guinea!!
They were given the agnominal title: Pygmies.

Levigate (LEV-i-geyt)

Definition:
1. To rub, grind, or reduce to a fine powder.
2. To make a homogeneous mixture of, as gels
3. Having a smooth, glossy surface; glabrous

Source: Thesaurus.com

The detailer worked the compound until it started to levigate, leading to the assumption that it was completely broken down and ready for removal.

Today on June 3...

Definition:
3. Having a smooth, glossy surface; glabrous

Glabrous (glay-bress)

Definition: Hairless; having no hair-like bristles; smooth

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

-There are a plethora of "Paint Decontamination Systems" (PDS') available in today's car-care-market
that claim to aid in creating levigated vehicle surfaces.

-But, IMO, unless Detailers take the necessary precautions, when handling the above mentioned PDS',
by utilizing the proper PPE, (such as, but not limited to: Respitory protection/air filtration),
they may wind up with their nose/nasal-cavities being in a glabrous state.

Besides having this unenviable 'condition'...

-Who knows?...Breathing in some car-care chemicals, without the presence of nose/nasal-cavity: vibrissae/cilia...
might even change ones physiology enough to cause a "Sinead O'Conner-Effect":

"¡Ai! Chi-(huahua!?)"

Many times a customer will think that I am nearing the end of a detail when they see the results of claying with ONR lube. Their credulous eyes only see the levigated bling thus produced. I usually burst their bubble when I tell them that I still have the polishing and lsp steps left to go.

^^ Thank you guys for your addition and contribution!

Histrionics (his-tree-ON-iks)

Definition:
1. Behavior or speech for effect, as insincere or exaggerated expression of an emotion
2. Dramatic representation; theatricals; acting

Source: Thesaurus.com

The detailer's used histrionics to "paint a picture" and to have the customer imagine how thrilled and excited they would be when their car was detailed with the most expensive "correction package" he/she had.

I am curious if I will be in company of histrionics when listening to the plaintiff and the defense today or sometime this week if I am actually selected to part take as part of a juror. I have "jury duty" this week, not thrilled... except for I get to be out of work and get up a few hours later than usual! =)

Back in the day when I use to frequent casinos, there was always a tour group or a gathering of patrons at the slot machines drunkenly cheering on some small jackpot winner with their lame histrionics.

^^ Both of you... love it! VT, do you still like to gamble or do you stay away from the casinos now? If you do, maybe we can plan a trip out to Vegas some time? Of course anyone else is welcome as well! Just a thought! =)
