Newt Gingrich!!!

It's pretty clear that we are not on the correct course to turn our economy around. The current congress and administration's ideas are not working and they are unwilling or unable to change course. I cringe when I think of where another four years of this could leave us.

We have under this current admin, turned people into either pro-business or pro-labor camps. We need an administration that is pro-American. Both business and labor must partner and prosper if we are ever going to get our country back on course.

So we are at a juncture where we simply can't go another four years with what we have. We have a slate of candidates that are mostly unremarkable. Given that, I believe Newt is the most intelligent and experienced way forward. My guess is that Gingrich will be the candidate.

I would love to see a series of Gingrich/Obama debates.

We need to stop the class warfare and unite all Americans if we want to save our future and our children's future.

We are
debtiv.gif
in debt and racing towards our demise.

Many seem to believe that it is the entitlements, Medicare and Social Security, that are the biggest problem but they would be wrong. The huge and rapidly growing interest payments on our debt will be the main thing that does us in. We can't fix this by just taxing the wealthy and we can't fix this by doing nothing and continuing to spend our way into oblivion. If we fail to take action now, we fail for our kids and grandkids. Imagine for a minute what their life will be like if we don't act now. We need an administration and congress that will join together to do the hard things needed to save our kids future. We, as Americans, need to step up and see that our elected officials do the right thing.

•We need to stop our government's unfettered access to our checkbook. I believe this will require a balanced budget amendment.

•We need to force congress and the administration to live like us and I'd propose that we force them to live with the same programs and benefits we all have, like Medicare and Social Security.

•We need to establish term limits and cut out lifetime salary and benefits for politicians. You are supposed to be there to serve our country, not strap on the feed bag for the rest of your life. Serve your term and go back home to your life.

•We need to radically change our tax system. Everyone must pay some taxes regardless of income. We all have a stake in America's future so let's not pretend that it's ok for half of us to not pay any taxes.

•We should cut our congress in half. We needed all these people back in the horse and buggy days but today we have technology to assist us. Information moves at the speed of light. The larger our government gets the more corrupt and divisive it gets and the more spending that it does. Do any of us think we get better representation with more members of congress? With a current congressional approval rating of 12% I think many would agree that less is better.

•We need to evaluate every government program every year and cut duplication and programs that are not effective. Each and every program should have a sunset clause whereby if it doesn't meet it's promised goals it's gone, no exceptions.

Today 237 in congress are millionaires. Surprisingly, 4 out of 5 are Democrats. We probably should ask if these wealthy old codgers are actually representing the average American. I suspect that rich old white guys may not be a demographic match to the general populace they supposedly support. I suspect they don't have a clue on how most of us live. Perhaps their wealth makes them ill suited to represent us objectively. When you live and run in the Millionaires Club you likely loose track of the struggles and strife most of us must deal with on a daily basis.

We have to get this done and time is not on our side. Please get informed and vote. I believe this may be the most important election cycle we have ever seen on our lifetime.

Very interesting, very thoughtful.

I agree..except anyone that spends more than $30 on a can, jar, bottle, jug, box or carton of wax is nuts!

Haha cheeky!!!

I would agree, although I did spend more than $30 for my P21s 100% and it's worth every cent. :righton:

Mike Phillips said it best in an earlier post; there are 3 topics that are best left off a forum post:

  • Politics
  • Religion
  • Wax's

Politics have become "religionistic".
Religion has become politicized.

And now you want to economize wax expenditures?

{My neo-cortex is now on overload!}

What I find interesting is in all the political rhetoric is how many people repeat "facts" that never tell the complete story. They come from one side or the other to support a particular point.

They vilify segments of the population or groups (rich, unemployed, people on welfare, defense industry, agri-business, wall street, gun owners, gun haters, planned parenthood supporters, greenies, etc) as if they are the cause of the country's challenges.

These guys running think we have never been through an election before. They promise programs (like downsizing government, 9-9-9) that would never get passed by congress even if all one party.

:iagree:

Well stated. I thought I was the only one that noticed the constant generalizations that the populace make concerning political (and other) issues.

Why no love for Huntsman?

Pros
He's less Mormon than Romney
He's more Christian than Gingrich
He knows other countries exist
Business man (extremely important for GOP)
Never had an abortion

Cons
Doesn't hate the gays and Mexicans enough (according to the right).
Smart
Knows other countries exist

His only problem is the media intentionally ignores him because he makes sense when he talks. They wouldn't want to show a republican doing that unless enough people already learn his name to force them to talk about it.

Notice when the Tea Party was in the news they tried to show only the racists on major news networks but now that the occupy movement is in full swing they try to show only the ones that make it look better. I'm speaking specifically of the major news networks. Do some digging on line or watch a decent show like Morning Joe and you get more of both sides.

It seems like the "Fair and Balanced" news is ignoring him too? At least from what I've seen.

I don't know a whole lot about Huntsman, but what I've seen, he's the type of guy you can vote for instead of being the lesser of two evils.

i think cains 999 plan could be a disaster . no taxes taken out of peoples checks and expecting them to fork over 9% at the end of the year. i think most most people cannot save period.i say the government quit giving hand outs.i mean all hand out including college funding.its really not their job to see people getting educated. its the parent job.the governmennt has to many laws .let the states handle themselves .

I want this on a poster! I'm a big fan of irony.

Best Republican running but too "middle of the road" for the far right segment of the party to accept. He has the ability to work with people he may not agree with all of the time. Obama thought enough of him to appoint him as ambassador to China knowing full well he was a staunch Republican. Unfortunately he doesn't have a chance and that's why he's always placed at the end of the row during the debates.

As far as Newt goes, he's an extremely intelligent man but too much of a Washington insider. He says he's not a lobbyist but based on his record he is. I don't believe Freddie Mac paid him 1.6 million for his expertise as a historian. He did receive a doctorate based on his dissertation pertaining to the Belgian education policy in the Congo but Freddie Mac most likely isn't concerned about Belgium or the Congo.

He's also flip-flopped on climate change, health care mandates, Libya and Representative Paul Runyan's proposed budget.

i just think the people will blow the money. just like government blows ours.if your gonna take the 9 you better get it while you can. man that sounds bad:dunno:

Good point - I was referring to the abc, nbs,CBS but yes I agree fox doesn't give him any play. In their case it's for the same reason probably, LOL He thinks for himself.

Just last night Bill O'Reilly interviewed John Huntsman on the Factor.

The news organizations usually highlight those with the higher poll numbers or what they consider the darlings (such as Rick Perry). Please note they are really in the entertainment business (all networks) so giving equal time is not required and this even includes the debates. They each have their bias based upon what they think their target audience's favorite kool aid is but some obviously have a bias toward the small guy (a la George Bailey against Old Man Potter).

Romney and Obama are both phonies.

Any opinion on Obama being elected after speaking at Palestinian rallys and going to church with people that hate America and announcing his candidacy at a terrorists home, and.... :) :)

Gary Johnson 2012! The libertarian platform is the only viable solution and the fundamentally correct theory of what this country should have always been and might become again. Hopefully...
