Newt Gingrich!!!

He has no chance, Mark. Probably Romney has the best chance because he will get a lot of moderate votes unlike some of the more extreme candidates.

He is a brilliant revolutionary and has more knowledge then the president (x1000) and all of the other candidates combined. I'm not positive he would be a great president as I would have to do further research but I believe he would be much better than the current president by a very long shot. He would be an incredible primary advisor to the president for sure. I would vote for him.

Unfortunately the media will destroy anyone who thinks for themselves. For instance he has his own opinions on some things that make many republicans cringe because they cant imagine they could be wrong about something. The close-mindedness of many democrats is no difference and some of them seem to have a real cruel hatred for someone who doesn't think the same thing as them.

He has his demons but look at Benjamin franklin and many brilliant men who changed history... They weren't the best husbands either....

The media nearly destroyed Cain with not one iota of proof and they will do the same to any republican that rises to the top.

Fact: the media is predominately liberal and in today's opinion controlled news rather than old school journalism and reporting that means there is a huge slant in the news. In many schools across the country where students are studying journalism those who show a rightward leaning opinion are judged and graded against their belief rather than against there skill and effort. In an article I read about 4 years ago journalists were polled on which way they vote. 79% of them vote democrat on a regular basis. Keep that in mind when you hear reporting from the major networks.

TIM RUSSERT we miss you :( that was called journalism... There is no such thing today.

Just another GOP clown of the month. His own party threw him out of congress years ago. He has one thing in his favor however misguided ...is intelligence. I'll give him that compared to the rest of the clown possee. He will fade into the abyss as the others have. The Cain train had its 15 minutes of fame and will soon be doing what he does best... Sell pizza.

I'm surprised you don't hear more about this guy. What he says seems to ring true with about every working class stiff yet he gets very little media attention.............but that's also what the media intends because they push their favorite to form your opinion....

BobbyG. When do we hit the campaign trail? :hotrod2:

I am sure he will. His flip-flopping on Lybia, his lobbying activities, and his fund raising scams. Not to mention getting kicked out of Congress.

It's pretty clear that we are not on the correct course to turn our economy around. The current congress and administration's ideas are not working and they are unwilling or unable to change course. I cringe when I think of where another four years of this could leave us.

We have under this current admin, turned people into either pro-business or pro-labor camps. We need an administration that is pro-American. Both business and labor must partner and prosper if we are ever going to get our country back on course.

So we are at a juncture where we simply can't go another four years with what we have. We have a slate of candidates that are mostly unremarkable. Given that, I believe Newt is the most intelligent and experienced way forward. My guess is that Gingrich will be the candidate.

I would love to see a series of Gingrich/Obama debates.

We need to stop the class warfare and unite all Americans if we want to save our future and our children's future.

We are

in debt and racing towards our demise.

Many seem to believe that it is the entitlements, Medicare and Social Security, that are the biggest problem but they would be wrong. The huge and rapidly growing interest payments on our debt will be the main thing that does us in. We can't fix this by just taxing the wealthy and we can't fix this by doing nothing and continuing to spend our way into oblivion. If we fail to take action now, we fail for our kids and grandkids. Imagine for a minute what their life will be like if we don't act now. We need an administration and congress that will join together to do the hard things needed to save our kids future. We, as Americans, need to step up and see that our elected officials do the right thing.

•We need to stop our government's unfettered access to our checkbook. I believe this will require a balanced budget amendment.

•We need to force congress and the administration to live like us and I'd propose that we force them to live with the same programs and benefits we all have, like Medicare and Social Security.

•We need to establish term limits and cut out lifetime salary and benefits for politicians. You are supposed to be there to serve our country, not strap on the feed bag for the rest of your life. Serve your term and go back home to your life.

•We need to radically change our tax system. Everyone must pay some taxes regardless of income. We all have a stake in America's future so let's not pretend that it's ok for half of us to not pay any taxes.

•We should cut our congress in half. We needed all these people back in the horse and buggy days but today we have technology to assist us. Information moves at the speed of light. The larger our government gets the more corrupt and divisive it gets and the more spending that it does. Do any of us think we get better representation with more members of congress? With a current congressional approval rating of 12% I think many would agree that less is better.

•We need to evaluate every government program every year and cut duplication and programs that are not effective. Each and every program should have a sunset clause whereby if it doesn't meet it's promised goals it's gone, no exceptions.

Today 237 in congress are millionaires. Surprisingly, 4 out of 5 are Democrats. We probably should ask if these wealthy old codgers are actually representing the average American. I suspect that rich old white guys may not be a demographic match to the general populace they supposedly support. I suspect they don't have a clue on how most of us live. Perhaps their wealth makes them ill suited to represent us objectively. When you live and run in the Millionaires Club you likely loose track of the struggles and strife most of us must deal with on a daily basis.

We have to get this done and time is not on our side. Please get informed and vote. I believe this may be the most important election cycle we have ever seen on our lifetime.

:wow: If only members of the government would read this. If only we could get this type of message to the population of our country.

You know, Mark, I think we'd all be better off if you'd stop posting political threads.....

Just sayin'

I dislike political discussions because it is all based on opinion, but I'll say this much: if we as Americans, not Democrats or Republicans, are trapped into the the two party system way of thinking or voting, then we all are going to lose no matter who wins the election(s). The 2 per cent of the people who own the wealth and power in this country are the real decision makers of what matters, not Obama, not Gingrich, not Cain, not Romney, or anyone else who's on the ticket. What we see on television concerning the candidates, the parties, the platforms, etc., that we discuss, or argue over is just to keep us chasing our own tails. No one will get elected President, Senator, Congressman or dogcatcher unless they go along with the program. Otherwise they will not get the funding to run their campaigns. It's the system itself that needs to be changed.

Mike Phillips said it best in an earlier post; there are 3 topics that are best left off a forum post:

  • Politics
  • Religion
  • Wax's
I agree..except anyone that spends more than $30 on a can, jar, bottle, jug, box or carton of wax is nuts!
