No longer have to polish my C5 z06...

With your OCD, you're gonna hate the wrap. They're far from perfect and it's going to drive you nuts.

(I give him a month folks)

If that's the case, the "cost per day" will be crazy, LOL!

Would you guys explain why I won't last very long???? If the shop is good, there shouldn't be any problem.

It has nothing to do with the quality of work the shop produces. It has EVERYTHING to do with your Obsessive Compulsive Disorder ;)

What are you going to do when the finish gets marred?

Hey Mark!! I was trying to determine if this was you or not (been awhile, and with my ADD and all). When I saw the comments about changing your mind; I KNEW it must be... I didn't know you still had the Vette, I thought you got rid of it. I hope you've been well, and hope you like the wrap buddy!!!

BTW, let it be known; We don't suffer from OCD, we suffer from CDO (like OCD, but in alphabetical order) the way it SHOULD be!

Yea, he got rid of it and got a Camaro. He kept it for like 5 days then got a sweet looking Mustang. The Mustang lasted a while. Maybe 2 months!

:)

Since when can you see marring on pearl white? ;)

LMAO Tad, you KNEW it was me!!!

Got rid of my 5.0. ;)

Hope all is well, bud! :dblthumb2:

Maybe go to the shop and find out how the previous customers feel about their wrap jobs after a few monthes or years and go from there, just a thought!

I won't have the car in a few years. ;) I just want something different. The wrap is easily reversible. :dblthumb2: The shop is filled with high-end cars and has gotten good reviews.

For future reference; and,
In order to not worry about this 3M vinyl-wrap's cleaning/marring-removal...
Here you go Mark:

Cleaning:

NOTE: I realize that CG's is close-by...
But have you given any thought to using Swissvax's/Nanolex's matte products?

Marring Removal:
Use your DA machine polisher with pads that are uber-soft (100-PPI),
and that have absolutely zero abrasive cut (like LC's Gold)...
with very mild AIO's (such as: KAIO/ZAIO/etc.)

Side Bar:
I would like to bring to your attention that, by wrapping your ZO6, there is the: "added weight factor" to consider.
(After all: this particular matte wrap weighs-in at ~ a whopping 1.6oz per square foot!!)

So...
In order to overcome this inherent wrapping-disadvantage...may I suggest:

This is why I love you man!! Blowwweeeerrr to offset the weight difference!!! :dblthumb2:

Thanks for the recommendation of the matte products, I'll surely look into them!

Can you explain?

You'll see the seams. There will be slight imperfections in some areas of the wrap. It's not perfect. Most people won't be able to see all of the "issues", but knowing you, it will drive you crazy.
The scratches that develop won't be able to be polished out. And they scratch very easy.

Yup I did some work with Fellers Bad Wraps a few years ago and they would teach their installers to educate their customers on wraps been a 15 footer at best. That said most of the cars looked pretty clean. Also really check out the shop. Check to see if their installers are certified not just the shop owner who doesn't touch the cars anymore. Bad technic could really damage your paint. Razor blade trimming and poor prep can really hurt when it's time to remove the vinyl.

So I was at the Another Level show here in Chicagoland about a month ago and saw something I had never seen before, colored, chrome wrap. It was on the Chrysler of Japanese cars, Nissan and the car was a newer Altima. It was a blue chrome, had 22" wheels on it, a billet grill surely a copy of the big name one and tinted windows. I didn't even go and look at it up close but I later found out some info on from the vinyl guy I go to for various things, check this out. In materials alone its $4k and the shop I go to said if he had did that car it would be $10k total but the owner of that car got it done for $6k and a lot of corners were cut, pardon the pun and looked like crap when you looked at it, now I wish I had done this! Let me repeat, $10k for what is essentially a giant sticker for your car. Yes I know the material is good but let me tell you this, for $10k I could have a complete color change on my CR-Z, excluding the engine bay and it would be done in the BMW color called Laguna Seca Blue!

You just saved me a ton of money. :props: Not gonna do it.
