Absolutely.

And not all kegs are aluminum. The sheer weight if nothing else tells me the one I have is steel. Either way, it's going to be good. Ill see about taking some shots of the keg to get stamping marks to tell the material for sure. :)

AYE I know I know.. sorry.. :/ it's buried in the vast multitude of CRAP that resides in what we call a 'garage' down here in hampton roads.. I've not had a car in one in 4 years of living down here.. *tear*..

Mission - get some pics tonight. Got to clean out the car for weekend trip, so I'll be in the garage so I have no excuse! :D

BTW has the date been set? i apologize if I had missed it. My best weekend availability is June 29-30 :\

I know the feeling well. I think that the VT garage qualifies for an episode of 'Hoarders'.

If it is indeed stainless, and well used, we're looking at more than 1 day to correct.

Here's the problem. If SS, then it's probably scratched halfway across the galaxy and back. Removing deep scratches from SS requires ALOT of time and sanding steps. We're talking 180-240 to start. Bumping up 80-100 additional grit to remove the original sanding marks. Then around 400 grit, chased by 600.

Now comes the fun. Stainless requires somewhere around 8000 sfm to achieve correction after sanding. A handheld polisher with a 8" wheel is going to get you in under optimal sfm's (7000 or so). That's a lot of time spent with the emory bar and a cutting wheel.
Then you have to chase it with a green bar paired with a medium cutting wheel. If it's progressing well then you can continue on. If not then have to go back to one of your sanding steps.

So if you can continue without regressing, there will still be two, or more polishing steps.

I may suffer from OCD, but that's a lot of time spent with a screaming polisher in one's hand for one day.

Just sayin'...

If i can get an adapter - i believe my craftsman has a 1/2" UNC thread male spindle, i'll triple check @ hardware store - to fit 5/8"-11 threads, it spins @ 4200 RPM, so it may have the umph needed to do some damage to the keg. REGARDLESS by no means does this keg need to be completely polished at the gathering. No way. It'll be there for those that wish to grind on/polish on as a test bed of sorts :)

It's not going to be a feature piece of my collection :) :hungry:

You mean some Eagle1 nevrdull and elbow grease won't take care of it? :)

~8400 sfm.
Bound to be a machinist in your area. Check speed shops for reference.

My OCD was at the reigns again. Nice gesture, btw.
I thought that maybe you had dune buggy/sand rail/rat rod aspirations...lol!

I've managed to achieve miracles akin to walking on water (in my mind's eye) with elbow grease and NEVRDULL.
But nothing of this caliber Im the MAN

I have access to kegs, so this idea may not be too far fetched :)

If i ever achieve half that quality with my brew pot - i'm going to have a lot of business coming from my office with all the homebrewers we have :) :xyxthumbs:

I've got some take off GT mufflers that need a good polishing as well :) I'll get some pictures of my DD and mufflers up in the next few days..

So i passed around the keg pic to my cohorts in homebrewing adventures and I've got orders already hahahaa :) I'll let them know once i've actually put grinder to metal to see if they really want me to undertake polishing on their vessels. :)

That's what I'm talking about, 10-04!?!

So which weekend in June are we shooting for?

I may be able to go depending on where it is. Richmond seems like a good place to meet. It is mid way for everyone.

Distinguished? I'm just white trash from Norristown.

We all gotta come from somewhere. Detailing is the tie that binds.:grouphug:
Me? I'm just a broken down saddle tramp from the other side of the tracks :)

So which weekend in June are we shooting for?

I'm open. I can rearrange any prior commitments for the date chosen. I need just a few days heads up on the final date...so let's get to it.

Here's a couple shots I grabbed pretty quick... as you can tell I haven't treated her right for the last 3 years, full of rids and swirls and scratches... and these aren't even the worst spots.

^ Yes, we're definitely going to use this as a demo car.

I'm game for June 29th. Anyone else have a say?
