Old school waxes...pics and stories, this should bring back memories!

Your Dad's a wagon guy I see! Has he used #845 yet and if so, how does he like it?

It was only because he had three kids and all of our crap he was carting around the whole time! He got rid of a 70 Challenger R/T 383 4 speed for the Malibu wagon...needless to say, he was less than pleased! Now, he just likes the all wheel drive of the Subaru driving around in the winter. He said the Outback was more affordable than the WRX STI, even though he knew the STI would be much more fun... :xyxthumbs:

He has used the 845 several times and told me that he really likes it. I've been using it for about a year now on my 09 Acura TSX, and he asked what the hell I had on the paint to make it bead like it was. He is a fan of supporting local economy also, especially based on quality products. It took a while for him to realize how little is actually needed during application. I needed to remind him that thin is in...

I'm waiting for him to recommend a road trip soon to pick up some more, along with an FX Matt Brewery stop along the way!

I was about 12.years old when I started keeping my dads car clean.
Turtle Wax was all I knew about so that's what I had to use.

Good shine.
Hard to apply and very hard to remove. Lol
It was a gold Olds with a 350 Rocket.

Been detailing ever since but I no longer use TW:)

Great thread:)

You might wanna try Turtle Wax rinseless available at your local auto parts store, like Advanced Auto parts, good stuff for an OTC product. Makes a nice clay lube and quick detailer too.

Oh that I use.
I bought 16 bottles total when it was BOGO.
Love it, good stuff, all I use now when doing Rinseless.

Sorry, I forgot about your financial aid package to our economy last month, LOL!

Lol. Yep.
I tell you I love the Turtle Wax Rinselss Wash and Wax.
It removes the light dust without any scratching.
First I spray some on the panel , I have a mixture of it, I find it helps to break up the soil, then I come with my MF towel and gently wipe the dirt away then dry it.
I then use it as a QD to make sure I get any streaks that may be present.

Smells good too, I now have a way to keep my car and truck looking its best at all time, best part it doesn't take me long to finish it.

In 45 years of cleaning cars I've used most of those products at one time or another. My favorite of all time was called Dyna Glaze. It came out of New York. It was also marketed in larger metal cans the said Astro Shield.

I barely remember Astro Shield, LOL!

3M Fill 'N Glaze. Best stuff ever. Filled in all the RIDS and left a great shine. It was not durable at all, the first rain would wash it off but for a car show it was great.

Cool sign but could you imagine only waxing your car once a year, LOL!

That's because if you put it on as thick as most of us did back in the day, it took you a whole year to get it all buffed off!

Hence the term "Popeye arms", LOL!
