Opti-Coat 2.0 Question

Thanks Chris... that's what i was thinking... However... how many vehicles will one syringe coat?

I got one syringe ordered on a 2 day shippment, and plan on doing his Accord first... hopefully get everything done friday night after work... or get 90% completed Friday and Saturday just do a wipe down with Eraser and O-C Saturday morning... Car will be kept in garage until Monday morning... The CRV will be done the week after... I'm wondering if i should order a second syringe?

I don't have enough experience with OC yet to be sure, but I think you should be ok to do two cars with one syringe. Like other said, I'd wash with something like OPC 3:1 before the OC'ing.

You are suggesting to wash with OPC @ 3:1 before applying OC??

Thanks Chris... But actually my plan of attack was going to be

Dawn wash
Clay
Hyper Polish with 5.5 inch pad on PC DA
PO85RD (only if needed)
Eraser wipe down
O-C 2.0

I actually do have OPC, and can use that if others think that would be better than any of my above steps.

I believe it would be good to use a gold pad and 85rd to jewel the paint before application. I have noticed improvement after jeweling, and it is my belief that whatever level of gloss and clarity the paint has before OC will be locked in. Try jeweling a panel after the other polish and see if it makes a difference.

Yes, 3 parts water (distilled is best) and one part OPC.

Commander Duck: that sounds like a good plan, didn't realize you were doing the Eraser prior to the OC. Let us know how it turns out!

Thanks Blackthorn... Yea, that's what i was thinking... wouldn't hurt to jewel a panel... i know the 85RD did an amazing job on my black metallic paint.... figured it would do a good job on metallic white and sliver paint.

Do you put it in a bucket or do you spray it on the paint?

Jeweling with 85rd on black paint will give you that extra pop, but imo you are wasting you time on white or silver.

So I may be applying oc to a friends ride, but he said he wants a really wet look. He has a black Audi. Will OC give it that wet look?

Only if you polish correctly.:xyxthumbs:

In all of the pics I have seen with it on, I would say no. It tends to make paint look very slightly cloudy from what I have seen. Based on that, it definitely will not ENHANCE its wetness. There is another 2 year coating I have seen that probably would, though, made by HD.

Rsurfer... thanks for your thoughts... i'll jewel one panel and see what i think / if i can tell any difference on the panel without the jewel

So all the pictures you've seen with OC looks cloudy? I guess some like to post pictures of their cloudy OC paint.

Blackthorn's comment above actually has me a little worried now... Does O-C 2.0 have a tendency to cloud the paint?

No, we are talking about an extremely small change here. Although I have only seen pics of Opti Coat 1.0, and the product has changed, I doubt it has changed all that much. Rest assured, Opti Coat looks great, and is wonderful for a daily driver. I just would not use it on a Concours car, which is kind of what alko is talking about. My point was that I do not think that OC will ENHANCE the wet look over perfectly polished paint. Honestly, very few products do. It might not change the wetness very noticeably, but I simply cannot believe it will enhance it.

So will your 2 year HD coating do it where OC won't?

From the pics I have seen, the HD Nitro Seal is extremely crystal clear and wet looking. As far as a long lasting product that looks clear and wet, I would make it my first choice. It is expensive, though.
