Optimum Opti-Eraser review

Interesting. Have you used the fine version?

For those of you who didn't watch the vid Roshan (ihaveacamaro) felt that the product (agressive grade) didn't give any feedback as to when the panel was clean like clay or other clay alternatives.

Did you find it was quicker to clay the entire vehicle with this product vs. a standard clay bar?

Thanks man! Saved me the trouble. I trust your reviews. Do you still like the speedy prep towel?

I would assume that it would take hella long to use this product. I think he demonstrated that too when he said you are not able to tell what has been decontaminated and what hasn't been decontaminated with the block. And it grips? That is time consuming..Waste of time kinda

Yea because of that, im getting nowhere near it.

I have not used the fine version. I suspect that it is very similar to the aggressive grade (in terms of grippy-ness), though I have no experience to back that statement up.

Thanks for the cliffnotes, might have to add that to the next video review :)

Saved me about 10-15 minutes overall, not nearly as much as the Speedy Prep Towel. A mid-size sedan will take me 45 minutes to clay bar and 15 minutes to clay towel. This took me roughly 35 minutes.

Absolutely. I would trade my Opti-Eraser and a cash difference for a speedy prep towel in a heartbeat. If I had someone willing to do the trade and if I had the extra money lol

You are able to tell that the Opti-Eraser is working, however you are correct, it is hard to tell when a surface is fully decontaminated. Relying on the tactile feedback with this product isn't very reliable in my opinion.

That's interesting. I used the CG Clay Block for the first time this week. At first it felt really weird, like it was scratching the surface badly. Then it did give feedback as the surface got smooth and decontaminated.

The thing is, you could feel every little imperfection. So, unless you removed almost all of the contamination, the feel didn't change much. CG calls their Clay Block "fine grade". I notice it took several passes to decontaminate the surface. Do, if you stopped "claying" too soon it may seem like the feeling of removing the contaminates doesn't change.

While it wasn't much faster than clay, I really liked it. It didn't mar, and I went at it pretty aggressively. It did make the hood I was working on (a rental) smooth as glass (it was pretty bad) and left it glossy. At $18 bucks a Clay Block from CG, the price is even less than many clays.

Basically, I could fine no fault with the CG Clay Block and was pleased.

Yeah I had seen your thread and your awesome results. Don't get me wrong, this thing works, it just doesn't give me the tactile feedback I would like. It grips the surface regardless if I have down only 2 passes or 20. <--- and I tested that specifically, even going ADD enough to count my swipes.

And if you like your CG clay block, when you're done, give the Speedy Prep Towel a try!

Thanks for the review! I have been waiting for someone to review this. I have to say I am dissapointed at the results becasue the product sounds so good, but I'm glad I saw this before I bought it today. Sounds like I need to consider it a little more before purchasing. BTW after reading your blackfire microfiber review I'm still kicking myself for not getting in on it on BOGO. I guess I'll have to go with Micro-Restore again. It has worked well for me so far and you do get a TON!

Did you take a video where you actually use it, or did I miss that in this video? Wondering how grabby it really is, since clay can be grabby if there's not enough lube.

No I didn't do that sorry. It's really hard to take a video of how something feels in your hand.

But trust me, I used a lot of lube.

... That could've been worded better

It works, period. Saves a ton of time, IMO.

but there are so many better options out there

Glad to help!

And oddly enough, if you get the gallon, it still comes out to cheaper per ounce than if you got it on bogo...

Mark, did you find a lack of tactile feedback about when the surface was decontaminated like ihaveacamero did?

ihaveacamaro, I did not mean to jack your thread by asking Mark that. Just wondering if other people were experiencing the same thing (a concensus). Great video, makes me really reconsider!
