Our First FERRARI - Red 458 Italia - Paint,Int & Engine

It does dry quicker for sure...no problems with 205 but 105, yes.

The way I've worked around it is to:

Prime my pad first, usually with D300...wipe away the excess...and then just add 2 dots of D300 and 2 dots of 105 for each following panel. The D300 helps to extend the buffing cycle.

Also, be sure to clean your pad after each section...if the pad gums up and then dries (which happens in hot weather) fibers stick together and it kills your cut.

Lastly, water spritzing is helpful. I have just a very small bottle of water with a sprayer connected...and say after doing 2 or 3 sections, i'll spritz the next section (right on the paint) and then start cutting without adding the dots to the pad directly...this helps to kinda clean the pad...not use so much product and extends the cycle as well...and say if you get through 3 or 4 arm passes and it dries up (happens to me in the hot weather), just do another quick spritz (don't have to wipe away residue, just spritz ontop of it), fluff your fibers back up a bit and finish the section.

Doing a quick fluff up of the fibers (if you are using MF pads that is) is a good way to kick the cut back up...these few things sound small but, do make a big difference...thanks to Kevin Brown and the chat i had with him....i do tweak it a bit as far as, when i spritz, how much...when i add product etc...but the ideas are a good base to work with.

Thanks for tip :dblthumb2: I didn't think of using both the d300 and 105

its been pretty cool seeing your business grow the last couple of years.you got alot of talent.

Man, oh man, you guys sure rose to the challenge. Although, when it's all said and done...paint is paint, LOL. Having said that, I will be very excited to do my first Ferrari too!

Hey Richy whats up! Yeah it was definitely a big 'first', thats for sure....i agree, paint is paint...we put as much into this 458 as we do Civics and Carolas...it just models our work a whole lot better when we're done!

Great job and documentation on your work.

Thank you and thanks for checkin it out

Great work guys, congrats.

Yeah its simple but does help for sure...like i said though, just don't let your pad get overloaded.

I've started a new group on Facebook, called Detailer Buddies, lotta guys from here, Autopia L2D and other detailing forums are on there. We're up over 200 people already and its like an on going discussion group where guys are constantly asking ?'s, sharing techniques, new ideas, jobs they've done and so on.

Check it out if you're on FB...its a pretty cool spot if i say so myself...and you can talk about whatever, whenever :)

Hey John,

its been cool having you guys there to sorta see it grow over the last couple years. 2 years ago...we'd never even touched a Vette...or Camaro for that matter. Washing and waxing an old Benz was a big deal...slowly but surely however, we've managed to work our way up...with i'll add, help along the way. So, whenever i can share some of our work, some tips we've learned along the way or any advice...we do...thats why i made the group listed above.

It was initially just to keep my guys i knew on FB who also detailed into a certain group that i could send posts too...next thing i know, other detailers are joining the group. Mike Napoli, Richard Wright, Kevin Brown, Todd Cooperider and many others...and its awesome to just have a 24/7 open conversation about detailing.

So in a short amount of time..i think we've covered quite a bit of ground and learned a LOT...and are still learning. I really do swear though, nothing beats on the job training...you can read forums all day long, but until you get out there and sweat and work over some paint for hours on end...bending your eyes and your patience to the extreme to TRY to get to as close to perfect as you can....you'll never find out what it takes to do this kinda stuff. Its a fun experience though...frustrating at times but...when you can do some amazing transitions and make an owners jaw drop...and feel good about yourself at the end of the day..paycheck aside....its a damn good feeling

very nice work you two! thanks for sharing.

I cannot wait to get my first Ferrari in the garage for a detail. Not very many in my neck of the woods.

how many hours did you work on this car?

There are quite a few out here, surprisingly...up in Scottsdale which is about 20-30 miles from me. We went to go see THIS car at a Cars n' Coffee get together and there were easily a dozen others lined up...there was even an Enzo there, never seen one in person..it was black and in good shape...not sure who got paid goomgobs of $ to detail it but, she looked nice :)
