Hey guys well as many of you know I have been detailing out of my 1996 V6 Toyota Camry. I will post some pictures just in case someone wants to do something similar. I kept getting laughs from people when I told them the idea but I figured it was worth a try. Boy did I prove people wrong. Well here is my set up and supplies if you are interested in starting a company or side business. I probably spent a month of research on each product as far as machines go. I have done over 60 details with this set up in the past 3 months and all the equipment is doing great. This is my first large post so bare with me.

This is the car. It needs some paintwork in both bumpers but I haven’t gotten around to that and nobody has complained lol. But I might get a truck soon and I will just keep this to go to school.

This is the inside stripped even though the dog wanted a picture in it.

Next up was the fabrication. My friend builds off-road trucks so I left most of the welding to him. The steel is 2 inch square tubing. Might be overkill but I was after safety.

The idea was to build a frame to seat the 50 gallon tank so this is what we are making the frame for. We had to measure and make sure it was all leveled up. Here is the frame coming to life.

Another look.

Ok so at this point it is very hard for me to explain all the measurements and everything we did to this point. To tell you the truth we winged this from scratch and it came out right the first time. The frame came out perfectly level and ready to go so we got some spray cans and painted the frame white. We also drilled holes on the metal to bolt onto the body. The frame is not welded to the body but bolted to the strong points in the body. All of the bolts are thick grade 8 bolts which weren’t cheap. Safety first!

Here is the frame with the plywood and we attached eyebolts so the tank can be strapped. It is important to note that we ran thick steel sheet metal across the plywood were all the eyebolts are bolted too. You cannot see them from here because they are under the wood. We put the steel under just in case the car flipped the bolts would not come off the wood. The steel is just like the one picture on top of the wood except it is supporting the eye bolts on the bottom Think about it as a washer on steroids!

Now pardon me on this part but my camera was out of batteries when we set the tank and strapped it down but I do have pictures of the tank set with water pump and pressure washer.

I ran some cables for the water pump from my battery and attached them to an On/Off switch which is really cool. I also grounded the pump on the frame.

So this is pretty much it as far as the building part. I will be honest the building part was stressful as we have never done this before and there were no blueprints for such a job. The good thing is we had plenty of beer on hand to take out the stress of building it.

Now the fun part was stocking the car with goodies!!!!!

Here is a view of it stocked. I made sure everything would fit on the back and this is what I ended up with! You will see that my vacuum and tool chest are spotted and this is because I had them near me when I was compounding and they got a bit of splatter.

-And in case you are wondering I carry the mytee recovery tank in my front passenger seat.

Not pictured is the polisher which is under the tool box. It is a PC XP. Also not pictured is the arsenal of pads next to the polisher and hidden under the blue crates. I have more microfibers as well but I took this picture after a day of work and used over 50 Mf’s.

Here is the list of the main tools I used:

- 50 gallon tank from plastic mart
-Karcher X series 1800 psi pressure washer.
-Total of 50 feet of pressure washer hose.
-Kobalt 5-Gallon 5 Peak HP Shop Vacuum
-Shurflo 2088 series agriculture pump/ 12 volts/ 3 gallons per minute
- Porter cable XP---Flex 3401 coming soon.
-**Sorry ahead of time**The small blue blower is from chemical guys. Aside of that, this thing is awesome for drying exteriors and blowing interiors.
-Mytee lite II
-Optimum buckets from Autogeek. I got two of them with the ONR package.
- McCulloch MC-1275 Heavy-Duty Steam Cleaner.

Well hope you find this all useful! Let me know if you have any questions or if you think I missed something. I just wanted to show that it can be done and if you are thinking of getting a mobile set up and have minimal space I would recommend all of these small products. They all fit nicely into my car. My company grew faster than I thought so I will be upgrading everything to a truck, since I want to fit more goodies in it.
I did put heavy duty KYB struts and heavy duty springs to compensate for all the weight. This helped my car not have that drug dealer look.

Thanks for looking!

WoW dude this an awesome build thread! I'm usually part of a online automotive community that builds cars for going fast but this build has blown me away.

a++ dude! And I hope that deal with the truck goes smoothly.

That is amazing. Very organized and everything has it's place.

Good work

Haha! That's fricken awesome man. Looks like you got everything you need. Get your detail on! I don't see that Camry handling that weight very well for long, ha.:dblthumb2:

No compressor? What do you do if the customer has no power?

Dude, YOU GOT IT GOING ON!!!! this thread is sweet, well thought out rig.

What do you do for power?

Very cool setup. I see your from San Diego, same here!

Very nice setup! That little CG blower has me interested. I may have to pick one of those up. You've also given me some ideas for organizing my stuff. Awesome job!

I was thinking the same thing. How much does that tank weigh when it's filled up? OP might wanna check out the maximum weight in the Camry's owner manual. Haha

Thanks a lot man that means a lot! I will be upgrading it all to a truck once I do my customers 5 full corrections. I will probably miss this thing but I outgrew it pretty quick. And its not so great at taking the ladies out on a date with all the water sloshing around lol.

Thank you!! :xyxthumbs: I am a bit ocd! But arent we all!

Lol thanks Kris. You would be surprised. This thing pulls it like nothing since it has a V6 engine, but i'm not sure of the long term damage on the tranny and all that good stuff. I am doing 5 full corrections for a truck which should be a nice transition. I cant fit a compressor so I use that small blower to blow out interiors. And I usually ask customers if they have power ahead of time. I have over 150 feet of 12 gauge cord that you can see under the steamer.

But this is why I hope to get that truck soon. First thing I do is get a pancake compressor and put a propane powered generator :dblthumb2:

Great job on the build and the set up.

Thank you! It has been holding up very well!

Thank you, I appreciate everyones feedback!

Right now I hook up to peoples homes. I ask ahead of time just to make sure they have a plug in. I will be getting a truck soon so I will be able to supply my own power with a generator.

I am actually up in Fallbrook so I'm still part of the county. I was going to put that as my location but SD works. Plus some people in SD dont even know Fallbrook exist. Unless of course they go to the Avocado Festival!

Sounds like a plan! It definitely helps to have your own power. I actually sometimes just use my generator for the hell of it. There's been a couple times where I've ran into the situation where the customers outlets can't handle all my tools.

Just last week I was detailing a customers vehicle at their home, and they allowed me to plug in. Every time I tried to run my compressor, it blew their circuit. Generator was used to just run the compressor, and I used their power for everything else. Then, off I went and was still able to perform. Saved my ass!

Thanks you very much! That blower is awesome and very powerfull for its size. I got it because it was affordable and it had very good reviews. Plus I needed it last minute and anything I order from CG comes in 1 or 2 days since they are close to me.

Before I built it I checked the specs and it said it had a maximum interior load of around 1500 pounds. The tank weighs a little over 400 lbs filled up all the way. When you think about it its just like having two large football players on the back lol.

I also added heavy duty KYB struts. When this thing is full the car only drops about an inch. Before I put the shocks it dropped like 5 inches!

This is a tremendous build!!! I was not expecting anything like this :wow:

It reminds me of a James Bond car, except this one was designed for detailing :buffing:

Outstanding!!! :applause::applause::applause::applause::applause::applause::applause:

Thanks Flash! Sure means a lot! And yeah maybe this should be in a James Bond movie. The Camry that can wash itself lol. I am kinda bummed even though I might be getting a truck since I got used to this cars awesomeness and organization. But I cant fit a generator or a compressor in it!! I might as well go over board and drag a trailer with it too Im the MAN

Yea that's bad to the bone there! Haha freakin sweet. How you like that blower?

Thanks Man! Just noticed you found the answer to your question. It is a nice blower for the price. I would rave about it all day but I dont want to get in trouble on here lol. It is somewhat loud but it has POWER!!!!

WOW! I love that frame! You have good skill of steel fabrication...
You doing detailing as a business with this Camry? A customer may be amazed to see you show up on a sedan but everything in it.

Maybe you should think about getting into detailing vehicle installations. I'm sure there is money out there somewhere for it. Buy vehicles and turn them into detailing rigs and sell for a profit. I hear about people on here asking what vehicle to get as a mobile rig all of the time.

WOW, that's awesome, and you have some gonads to get that into it. Whenever I 'mobile' detail I just put the stuff in the car and take it out when I get there. Your on a whole new level doing that with a car.

Good luck with everything, I bet customers are very surprised to see the capabilities of that Camry.

Thank you! This project would not of been possible without my best friends help as well. And yeah I am currently detailing to pay for college. It is funny because they see a car pull up and there are no labels on my car that say it is a detail car.

Oh yeah I thought about that too but main this thing was a pain in the arse. I guess now that we have an idea and a frame to go by we can manufacture them specifically for camry's. The hardest part was making it work without getting to close to the gas tank and it worked for the Camry. If anyone is interested in metal work just send me a message. My friend wants us to make him a rack to put into his detail van as well.

Thanks man. Well at first I was literally just going to throw the tank in there but me being ocd and concerned with safety I wanted this thing to turn out the right way. No shortcuts were taken. I love this car! I wanted to put logos on the paint so people know I detail when I roll up, but my neighborhood is kind of shady and I dont want people to know what I do/ or what I have inside.
