I want to buy a radar detector for the mustang. Probably even buy a used one from Craigslist. Any recommendations? I've already determined to stay away from Cobra.
Thanks, Dave

Have you look at the Escort ones? They are a bit pricey but I have always heard great reviews on them.

My clients mostly use the Escort Passport Qi-45 model. It needs some wiring but it is an integrated model so it looks clean. Only downside is that you cannot switch it from car to car. It is pricey but when you think about it it's almost as much as the price of a speeding ticket, at least in California. There is a guy on ebay who sells them for half the price, that is where my clients buy from.

I've had a passport.8500 for awhile and it's saved me countless times. Valentine 1 is good cause it has arrows telling you where the radar is coming from.

And if you get a ticket while using it they will pay for. Plus free updates for life.

I have an old school Passport 8500 that has never let me down. Valentine One is what all my friends used to use though.

you have 2 brand choices in my opinion...Escort or Valentine One. Either one should serve you well.

I have a Valentine 1 and it is great for radar defense. Like all detectors though, it is virtually useless against Laser.

This.

I have a V1 and Dad has that PAssport 9500 with the GPS or whatnot- I love his GPS feature that allows you to cancel out false alarms and also set for speed traps and speed/red light cameras, but man I love the arrows and bogey counter on the V1.

Exactly! Every time I've owned a radar detector I got a ticket. They are helpful at times but still not worth the money IMO. They just let you know you're getting a ticket before the cop even writes it. :D

VALENTINE V1 I am on my second one and have bought one for my girlfriend and a bunch of my buddies got one after me I did all the research months of it .

Here is why escort sucks : prob the worst customer service you will get hear of read reviews on google .Other than that prob fine but I would never drop 400 and b worried about being taken Care of. As well these units look like the cost 5 bucks cheap plastic

Why go v1 : body design not cheap corny plastic like escort. Best part the design never changes only upgrades so like myn last year it needed an update well instead of buying update I simply eBay the old v1 boy do they keep value even when not loaded with current software chek it out you'll be surprised. Just spent 20 bucks to get a whole new unit and even got the new savy for it . Don't worry about beeps you get used to it in a week and you can always buy a mute button on eBay for six bucks

Go valentine

V1 is the way to go. I have 2, 1 in my truck and one in my wifes sports car.

I thought your radar defense (or laser, for that matter) was the ID in your wallet--what happened to professional courtesy? Or am I living in the past?

I use the Escort 8500. Works well and has saved me from laser a few times.

As a rule, I dont just drive high speed, thinking I am safe with a radar detector. Where it has saved me is on the short burst. Turn a corner and feel like nailing it, but, ooops, my passport warns me not to.

The only problem I have had with mine is the suction cups wear out too quickly. I have had to replace them a few times.

-I no longer will purchase radar detectors/jammers until they
completely overcome their "leakage problems"...But I will suggest to not buy used.

-I'm with you on the 'need-for-speed' at times.

-And being that I'm kinda old...I remember, and as mentioned, find the need for what the Interstate System of Highways was often referred to when they were first opened for public use on the so-called public-eminent-domains: ExpressWays

In that regard: I've often invoked what I feel is my obligation for "public-service".

:D

Not in Florida! A wallet ID may still work up north but not here. I am better off not badging a State Trooper. Flashing it almost guarantees a ticket. They even stop marked patrol cars for speeding. I have relegated all of my speeding to the race track these days.
