Review - Ultima Elastrofoam Paint Cleaning System - Garry Dean - Tampa, FL - Premium Custom Detailing

I would say that it is more aggressive than a fine grade clay, but not even close to a medium clay like clay magic red.

It is NOTHING like a magic eraser!

I used the system today on a black 09 Mercedes C300 and didnt notice any marring whatsoever. I did shoot video and I will try to get it up tonight.

Just ordered this, now I'm really looking forward to trying it. Thank you for filling the missing link with your review. Ultima stuff is great I figured this would live up to the standards the rest of thier products have set.

It's really a fantastic product. I like it more everytime I use it.

The problem with this is you can't buy just the gel. One 22oz bottle of gel then you are buying a whole kit again @ $37.99 a pop. Seems silly when they say the foam block will clean your car up to 20 times but yet we all know the 22oz of gel will run out well before that.

I think it is same as their Detail Spray.

I just ordered this up this morning with a few other Ultima products. I look forward to giving it a try. What sold me on getting it (other than the great performance of other Ultima products) was the business card thing that you did in the video. Again Thanks and nice video.

It is absolutely NOT the same as the detail spray. You can use any clay lube or quick detailer as lube for the elastrofoam block. I tried DP waterless wash concentrate with the block today with awesome results and no marring on a smoky granite mica 2008 Lexus IS F.

thanks garry and tiger. i now have 3 ultima products to purchase.

They dont disappoint! You cannot go wrong with the Ultima line!

I am glad I could push you over the edge. Thank you!

I just got an email back from PFC with some answers to a couple of questons I had regarding the system.

One tip I got from PFC is to use the elastrofoam block on glass first to flatten it out a bit and break it in, before you use it on paint.

I have heard of really good results using this product on windshields versus using a traditional clay bar because clay can leave behind particles in sand pitted windshields that can be seen in direct sunlight.

Also, be sure not to store the block in a plastic bag as it will soften the rubber and it will become sticky. Leave it face down on the wax paper it comes with and stored out in the open. At PFC, they store theirs in a cabinet rubber side up and just rinse off the rubber prior to using it.

Hope this info is useful to someone.

Just got done watching the video and sorry I didn't say this with my 1st post

Great video, explanation and video as always Garry. Your plastic card to show us the contamination on the paint is such a better way of doing things than to do a the plastic baggy way. Really showed off the issue if you where trying to explain to someone on why you should clay your car at least once a year.

Also I agree with Dwayne. While Ultima products are always very expensive I wish you could purchase them individually on AG and in a larger size.

Thank you very much for your kind words! I am glad you enjoyed it.

There is a similar cheaper product (sponge) sold by an online store based in Arizona. I wonder how the Elastofoam compare to it/

Looks like a nice product. I have wondered about these for a while. thanks for the follow up.

Waaaaasup my brotha? I got your "save the date." We will be there. I hope you are doing well.

Cool! Invitations will be out soon. Things are good. Claudia is stressing about me being gone for a year, and trying to finalize the wedding. Other than that, no complaints.

It will all work out. It sucks you are gone for a year, but it has to be done. Thanks again for protecting my country. You are my hero.

I ain't no hero. Just some cat who loves the hell out of his job. But thanks.

I purchased this product and have tried it on 2 separate vehicles now that were pretty well contaminated with brake dust and other fallout and it works much better than the clay that I put it up against in a side by side test. The clay was/is the yellow clay given to me by Steve over at poorboy's World from his personal stash as it is no longer marketed here in the states. I believe it was called Erazer Clay A.K.A. Riccardo Clay.

The clay left behind a good amount of contamination as observed by doing the business card test that Gary did at the beginning of this thread in his video. The yellow clay that Steve had given me was my favorite clay that I used very sparingly as it was no longer available.

As long as Ultima keeps this system available for purchase, I will never buy another clay bar. The Elasrofoam block did leave a small trace of marring similar to what Clay Magic Red leaves but just until it was broken in on the first car that I used it on which was a Honda Pilot with soft paint. It was no big deal though as I was polishing afterward anyway. The next car I used it on was a black Toyota Solara and there was no trace of marring present after using it on the entire car.

Before anyone suggests it, i did use it on the glass of the Honda Pilot before using it on the paint with the supplied lubricant. On the Toyota Solara I used ONR as lube mixed at a 31 to 1 dilution ratio so I don't know if that is why I got no marring on the black Toyota or if it was just because the Toyota Paint is harder than the Honda paint. I'll post my results on another Honda in the future.

This system is much faster and easier than using traditional clay and I dropped it a few times and was able to just rinse it off in my wash bucket and keep going where the clay would have had to been thrown away if dropped.

2 Thumbs up for this system from me. :dblthumb2:

Thanks for the review, Dave. Its good stuff. PFC does plan to continue offering the system.
