I just got my duetto and holy..... This tool has a presence, It looks and feels so quality its eye opening. I wish I would have known how bad azz these rupes tools are before I bought my g15. Nothing against griots its a great machine but the rupes looks like it's on another level.

This is going off looks and feel alone I havent even used it yet. The other day I asked about the best 5.50 pads to use with this thing... Well now that I have the rupes 6" pads and see how they are designed clearly the lake county 5.50" HDO pads will be the closest thing.

Congratulations on your new tool.

As I said your other thread my Duetto is my favorite tool. That being said don't sell the G15 short.

A few years ago when I did a 370 Z I started with my Duetto and Rupes pads with numerous test spots and I eneded up going to my G21 with my 5" backing plate set up.

Why? I was doing a one step polish and the Duetto just wouldn't "cut it" so to speak. The G21 powered right thorugh and save me hours of polishing time.

So between my Duetto, Rupes Mini and my G21 it pretty much covers it for me. I haven't picked up my Rupes 15 in over two years.

I love my Duetto and always go to it first.

Hope you enjoy it. If you like the Duetto, you would love the Mini.

thanks im def going to get the mini and the 21 eventually. The duetto is def more robust the I expected. I cant wait to use it.

I don't know about the 21 I already have enough problems with the g15 on anything other then a flat panel. If I hit even just a little bit of a contour the pad stops spinning. I have a white mark on the backing plate and I'm always watching it. If it wasn't for that white mark on the black plate I would never even know how much it was bogging down.

I have to wonder if people who don't have that line mark on the plate even realize how much the machine is bogging down. Even with great technique, I don't see how you can get any correction done on a curved panel? Especially with a 21mm throw. Are you guys actually doing curved fenders with these things and getting results?

I would love to see a video of someone showing how to do it?

I like Kevin Browns way to think about curved panels. Maybe not all different curves panels have is discussed but a theory. The thing I noticed and did test out was when lifting the machine off a little bit. Made me to get the pad spinning more. See if you find it intresting. I will have it in mind when I start polishing in the spring again.

Thanks right now I use my flex on all the curved panels. I don't think a long throw can do better then a flex on a curved panel no matter how good the technique? Thats just my opinion right now but Idk. I'll def watch the video thanks

Congratulations on the new toy! Let us know what you think when you use It! I am thinking about purchasing one and retiring my PC to carpets.

Been really liking my Duetto as well. I definitely should have had one sooner. I love my G21 but I feel the Duetto is really going to fill a gap for me. It has plenty of power and is smooth. Glad to see someone else enjoying it as well.

I think a 12mm throw is awesome! Can still correct, yet finish awesome. The Duetto is underpowered on non flat panels, but it is very smooth!

I think that would be the perfect jump except I don't know how it would be on curved panels. I feel like the flex or even the new mille might be better overall because it works on all panels plus you can use different size pads.

Actually I don't even think you can get those 5" pads for the flex anymore so maybe there is no difference in pad size you can use?

Do you guys use the flex at all? 3401?

I havent even used my duetto yet but I have used the rupes ultra fine polish. It's one of my favorites and I can't wait to pair up the duetto, the rupes finishing pads I have and the polish.

I have a 3401 that stays in the bag more often than not. My G21, Adams 3in swirl killer mini are my go to.

I do have a Flex PE8, Makita rotary, Rupes Nano ibrid and a PC 7424.

The Duetto is still my favorite tool to work with. Especially when I need efficient correction/polishing, and want to deliver my highest level of finish.

The duetto is the only one I never owned or had my hands on to demo but wasn't impressed with the 75E
Not sure if duetto will be worse due to bigger plate or if they turned motor to be more.torque for the 5in

Only 15mm I've played with was the Xfe7-15 and comparing it to a 21mm mark 2 and G21..it wasn't as torque..

Hope it serves you well and does t let you down performance wise

I'd try LC thinpros

I sold the Duetto soon after I bought it. Not impressed. Same with the 75E. The only tools I’ve been impressed with from Rupes are the MK II polishers, but you can find cheaper alternatives that perform just as good or BETTER! I couldn’t care less if they’re “knock offs”.

Started with a 15mm polisher on a detail yesterday and quickly switched to the 3401. So yes, I use it all the time.

I think we'll see a resurgence on popularity of the 3401. Anyone concerned with pad stall owes it to themselves to give one a chance. Guys have to match the machine to their style. I've seen too many guys fight with pad rotation with any of the random orbitals, and wonder why they just don't go with the 3401.

Those random orbitals take a degree of practice, finesse, and patience to "master". Some guys don't have the time, patience, or desire to deal with it. My best friend is 6' 3", 300 lbs, and really heavy handed. He hates random orbitals because they stall too much for him. He likes the 3401 because he can concentrate on polishing the paint - not maintaining pad rotation.

You absolutely nailed it, Dan. I find a RO much nicer to use and I know how to finesse/manipulate to pad in most cases. However, I don’t have the patience or time for this.

“He likes the 3401 because he can concentrate on polishing the paint - not maintaining pad rotation.”

I couldn’t agree more.

IMO the 15mm throw and probably up are only good on flat panels
