I use a simple Mag Light! That works just as good IMO you can find all the scratches and its about $15 or less
I have a surefire led with 230 lumens but it seems to bright. I may not be using it right but it's hard to see the swirls. I just hate to spend 70 bucks that is not better than what I have now
The Mag Light that I use has 2 AA batteries and works fine. You can adjust the light from wide angle to sharp angle and see the swirls. My garage has Flood lights and that catches every little flaw. Way better than any swirl light. You can get them at Walmart for about $35. I got the duel Flood lights that come with their own stand. It lights up your garage to where you can work at night (I did last night).
I have both the Flex light and the Brinkmann. I like and use the Brinkmann during my paint cutting and buffing work and have the Flex in my car for looking at potential clients cars anytime after dusk.
When i first got the Flex light i was looking for something a little smaller than the Brinkmann. I found after comparing both i just like the Brinkmann a little better. Don't know if that helps you and is just my preference. Both are good for looking at the condition of paint.
