Sneak Peek! - New Polisher!

Looks like the Rupes 21, Mille and mini would be a KILLER combo! :)
For the people that don't own a 21, the Mille might be enough for correction, unless they want to cover a large surface area faster.

It's really great that there are so many tool options available in today's detailing world.

Something for everyone...

For my big 3-day detailing classes I bring in 2 cars for each tool set, that is 2 cars for each type of tool. For example, the Cyclo is a "type" of tool. This way everyone gets LOTS of hands-on time with each tool set.

So I'm thinking.... looks like I'm going to need more cars for the September class to cover more tools.

:)

Wait! I have both of those! Shows ones age. Mine are retired as well.

Looking at the bulge in the towel where the backing plate is,it is too big to be a small pad machine like a mini of some sort. My $$ is on the makita & them some of my $$$ may go towards one. Standing by for the reveal. Anxiously I might add.

Yep, it's either the Rupes Mille or the Makita 5000C.

My wife told me she would get me a new buffer for father's day, so I'm anxiously waiting for the reveal before she changes her mind!! Lol

You can hit the trigger and the pad will spin, then blow out the pad.

With a DA with a free spinning spindle assembly or a washer mod I am able to precisely control where the residue goes and can keep it from blowing out of the bucket. While it may be possible to blow out polishing pads "on the fly" with a forced rotation DA, the oscillation and rotation made it nearly impossible to actually get enough speed to "sling" the polish residue out of the pad and when I actually was able to blow the residue out it was nearly impossible for me to control where the residue went. I felt like the product that didn't just get blown down into the pad was blown all over the workplace. I'm not the brightest bulb in the box so it's certainly possible that I was making it more difficult than it needed to be.lol

Mike looking forward to your review of the new Rupes.

I see Rupes is actually releasing four new machines. The Big Foot Mille , a rotary , a air Big Foot and a new electric Skorpio palm sander. If people new to detailing were having trouble choosing before , they may have a lot harder time making up their mind now. Plus a new selection of wool and thin foam pads. We are in interesting times for the detailing industry. And tool junkies like myself are going to take a major hit in our budget.

Looking good so far Mike with what I have seen thus far from the new machine.

well makitausa confirmed what i've seen in the video...spins clockwise in forced, and counter clockwise in free spin

Looks like it bogs down in free spin. I honestly wouldn't buy this polisher because it's dual mode. I would buy it for the clockwise forced rotation.

same here, and AGOs vid of it, looks like it spins clockwise in both modes..must of been an illusion on the old makita video

even if it has more opm's than the flex 3401, the flex would still have the advantage in orbit by at least 2-3 inches (kinda like the debate between the pc orbit vs long throw) even though the makita would be more comfortable to use since it spins clockwise. in anycase, look forward to seeing a comparison between the two...

What air powered one?

thats one way of thinking..and thought that myself...also was thinking less OPM means more rotary like and has the supporting rotation to do it

The original 5ish min video was taken down from the AGO youtube channel. Showed the machine to work very well on the yellow Duster Mike was correcting. Will probably be in his write up.
