SON1C Synopsis 7 - Chemical Guys - Diablo Wheel Cleaner

I took advantage of the Diablo wheel cleaner on the last BOGO as well and look forward to trying it out for sure, especially now that we're getting some snow and what follows snow....SALT!

let us know how you like it :D
Thats funny. Tuff Shine is like a CQuartz for your tires. It is the dressing as well. I think you would be crazy to use any other dressing on a daily driver, as you can see how clean it keeps the tires. I just love the stuff, should be product of the year.

The thing with Tuff Shine is, there is a slight learning curve and the initial application can be quite labor intensive, as it involves getting your tires surgically clean (even new tires need this process) before the coating is applied. If they are not cleaned correctly, the coating will peel. Best thing to do is to clean them day 1, let vehicle sit overnight, and clean them again next day. It requires a LOT of water and rinsing if you have been a frequent user of convention dressings.

Once the coating is applied, tires stay clean and dressed looking (not "shiny") and can be "cleaned" by reqular car wash or whatever else is at hand. I just use whatever surfactant based wheel cleaner I'm using. You can see in the pics, Tires shed no brown nastiness when cleaning. It's almost like cleaning your paint.

Not to jack your thread with Tuff Shine, but it's such an awesome product. It's an awesome company as well. I had some initial issues and questions and one of the company's OWNERS called me on my cell phone and mailed me out some additional product FREE.
that's awesome, I'll have to look into this come spring

Finally got around to using the cg diablo wheel cleaner that I picked up on the bogo sale in december. Hosed the wheels down, sprayed 1:3 diluted diablo with a regular spray bottle, and scrubbed it with griots long reach wheel scrubber brushes then hosed off and dried with a cheap mf towel.

I have never washed the barrels of my wheels ever since I got this car in july and the brake dust was caked on. I half assed it since it was cold outside, but when I was drying off the wheels in the garage I noticed that the wheels were completely clean.

When I get some extra bucks, I'm going to do a 5 lug conversion. These centerlock wheels are nothing but a big pain in the ass for cleaning and regular maintenance. And people have had them fail on the track.

How did you like the cleaner? I also enjoy the smell as well lol

That sucks to hear about them reportedly failing under heavy use, seems like the 5 lug is definitely in order and I imagine would open up a lot more wheel choices

Yeah the smell is great. I really should get a foaming sprayer for it. For a wheel cleaner that doesn't smell toxic like iron x, it sure melted away the caked on brake dust. I didn't scrub the wheels very hard either. I should've taken before and after pics. The brake dust was really bad on the barrels.

Where do you all get the foaming sprayers?

I got mine from Chemical Guys. They call it "the duck". Oddly, Diablo doesnt foam with that sprayer though. I think its too thick? However, it foams very well with their Sticky Wheel Cleaner

Crap. The duck was the sprayer I was looking at.

I hope that there will be another BOGO for diablo. I will certainly buy it again.

That's very strange. I use their duck foamers and they perform as advertised. However, I'm using and have been using the CG Diablo gel at 5:1 for my customers and even tough baked on dust I haven't had any problems. I personally feel this is one of the better and safest cleaners other than Sonax.

And yes, everyone loves the smell. I recently had a guy tell me he wanted to watch me clean the wheels because he had seen many of my write ups and me talking about it. He said it was the best thing he has smelled in a forever. LOL Made me laugh.

I purchased diablo wheel cleaner on BOGO a few weeks back...

Along with a Daytona jr wheel brush ( which I love ) and am very pleased with CG diablo. Great smell and the stuff just downright works for me.

This is typical of the results I am getting. Unless I am missing something what else can ya ask for???

It looks like a lot of us took advantage of the december diablo BOGO. I really thought I would have to wash my wheels twice as I didn't scrub too hard, but I was surprised that it got all of my brake dust off. I always thought that the best wheel cleaners had to smell nasty and use harsh chemicals. I guess I was wrong.

I've been trying to get some hard brake dust off my wheels with Pinnacle wheel cleaner but still haven't been able to get it cleaned especially the wheel barrels. Might have to pick up a bottle of the CG to try out

IME Diablo is a pretty mild wheel cleaner. It seems to be meant as more of a maintenance cleaner rather than an intensive restorative cleaner. I like Megs WB and Iron-x for the really nasty wheels.
