The Right Tire Dressing?

Opti-Bond is amazing stuff. I love the low gloss, natural look. You said you had to use a lot and I'm a little surprised at that. On the bottle it says the product can be diluted 1:1 and used in a spray bottle which is what I use on larger profile tires and then use a foam tire swipe to spread the product around.

I bought the Opti-Bond, and like Bobby G found there was a learning curve. I was not happy with how the tires looked following a single application--they were streaky. I first tried the 1:1 dilution in a spray bottle, but that just did not work on the tires very well. I use that spray now for the wheel wells. I found Opti-Bond works best squeezing a quarter size driectly to a foam tire pad and applying. I usually have to apply a second application for the tires to look uniform.

Durability is pretty good, lasts through a couple of washes and maybe even a rain.

My favorite is Poor Boys Bold and Bright and gives a very nice black matte look. I find it much quicker to apply and overall easier to use. Durability is car wash to car wash. Will not survive rain. The durability is not as good as Opti-Bond but it is so easy to apply it is not that big a deal.

I have had good luck with the Wolfgang, it goes on easy with a very very minimal amount of "sling." Plus it smells awesome.

Another WG tire gel fan, I also use OP tire dressing/PB BnB to change it up. I always go back to WG for that deep matte look with a slight wetness to it. WG also last longer for me as well.

So far my go to Tire dressing is CG VRT it works great! Deep black look and last a few washes and through the rain if it has had time to cure.

Since it hasn't been mentioned yet, let me cast my vote for Mother's FX Tire Shine. I have tried a number of water-based dressings over the past year on three different cars. I can't say that I've been disappointed with them.

My wife prefers glossier tires, so I've been using Surf City's Back to Black on her CR-V's tires. Easy to apply. Takes a while to dry. I haven't experienced any sling. Last time I applied two coats--and still no sling. I'm not sure how to describe the shine. I suppose it's medium gloss and wet, black look. It seems to last as long most other water-based dressings do.

But during the past month I've been using Mother's FX on my S2K's new tires. I wanted to amp up the gloss a bit and have been pleasantly surprised. I apply it, let it dry for 15-30 minutes, then wipe off excess. No sling whatsoever (at least so far). The gloss tones down in a day or two, but it retains sufficient gloss for my taste.

I am surprised that FX doesn't have more fans here on AK. It's a great bargain. Check out the price and the amount of dressing that you get.

Hey ... which would be the most shinest glossy tire shine in your opinion ??

I know most hate that "ghetto shine" look (i saw that on another thread =) ) but i much prefer it ..... to each their own right ?? Well i'm not too worried about tire sling because i often let my car sit for quite awhile after i'm done "detailing" it and i've found that if i swipe the tire with a some kind of sponge to grab the excess shine it won't sling yay !! TIA

Very good choices fellow gents, but I use a product that tops them all.

Stoner More Shine Tire Spray. Stoner® More Shine-Less Time Tire Shine: Spray on an instant shine for tires, rubber moldings, etc. tire spray, tire dressing, rubber dressing, stoner I applied a coat a week ago, I'll post pic of it tomorrow.

Please be advised my selection is personal preference and a matter of choice. I have not sampled some of the other choices mentioned above, nor is my taste in shine superior to others. However, I am correct this once.

I will throw a vote in for the DP, as it was my go to product.

Now, its the SONAX tire cleaner/gel. Stuff is amazing, and leaves behind a nice clean look without any sling. Love it!
