The video Gyeon didn’t want you to see

Just a thought....I get the impression that Gyeon focuses too much on their image and how they are "perceived". I've heard detailers say they were too obsessed over how their shop looked etc. I can't tell you if that is true or not, but they do sometimes borderline on being a tad pretentious.

Some of the guys from Esoteric come across that way too and it's very off putting.

With that said, Gyeon products are very good and I'm using them currently.
I agree about Esoteric, or is it Egoteric

Love Gyeon products

Here's a fair review of product and I don't remember if Brian said it was sponsored or not but from watching his videos I don't think it matters, he's a straight shooter

I was never a fan of Mother's and this product sucks based on what it claims. Instead of spending money on commercials for cable car TV shows where they put a cam in a s/b Chevy, maybe try and make your products better

I've been reading your posts for a number of years now and i do think your a class act lol I really don't think brian is has honest has you think. He's inconsistent. He has some great content and was the very first channel i ever really watched but i don't agree with you. I could be wrong of course. It wouldn't be the first time.

For instance he gave koch chemie's line of polishes just an "impressive" rating on his changing review board but a few mths later he posts a video with products he uses on his own car. The polish was f6.01 and now he sells them. I'm not saying they are not good products just that he's inconsistent.

When i asked him this question on youtube he ignored it.

Why would he use a polish he ranked has 3 tier on his review board on his own car? The 2 top reviews are "go get it NOW!!" and "VERY Impressive!". To be fair i don't think he has ever given a product the go get it now endorsement but i don't watch his channel anymore.

And really he was apart or still is apart of the turtlewax army....nothing wrong with making some money but just don't act like your on some moral high ground.

I can give a lot of examples of his inconsistently. Angelwax and polish angel in particular. Master sealant was his go to sealant for a while for instance he said if the customer didn't want a ceramic but now its poly seal from extreme solutions thats his recommendation lol I have yet to hear anything good about poly seal only the price. I'm confident it wouldn't hold a candle to master sealant.

15+ years ago before the patents on detailing clay expired and that whole market segment loosened up I bought a LOT of Mother's claying kits at the parts store

I got a bar of clay, a small bottle of detail spray, and a utility quality microfiber that went straight into the bumper/trim bin of towels

I got all of that for under $15 when you could easily spend $25 on the Magic Clay kit or whatever it was called and you didn't get a towel (I still have some of those really small black spray bottles I use for interior spray and QD/Bird Bomb stuff in my trunk box)

The clay was adequate and did the job and I simply tacked on whatever I paid for the kit to the materials cost for the job

Megs had about the same type of kit but it was always about $5 more, although I bought a fair amount of those as well

That is the only Mother's product I have bought in over a decade

I can sort of relate to the back and forth with Brian.

Since I went on a polish spree in 2020 I've really enjoyed some more than others. But even some of the polishes that didn't make the cut (ugh... no pun) I was still able to find attributes and things about them I did like. All this only to find that upon a second or even third visit with the polish yielded a deeper understanding of the product, and a better result/user experience.

The one thing that sort of irks me is the lack of product knowledge. For instance, Brian was reviewing Meguiar's Ultimate Compound, I believe. He said it contained "microfiber abrasives", where the Mirror Glaze products use "super micro abrasives". C'mon man, they're both the same "type" of abrasives. Same with the Wilson kid. He was comparing a "wax" and a "sealant". Both products were hybrids.... 3D Poxy and Optimum Car Wax... Really? I figured that most "professional" detailers would at least have a technical understanding of the products they were using. I'm probably splitting hairs here, but what does the word "detail" mean?

Methinks that's just an unavoidable byproduct of all the 'testing' they do with so many products; they probably never use new things long enough to truly get to know them.

Would be interesting to see what they would use in a 'no camera, gotta get this customer car done by tomorrow' situation.

I saw a number of "bulk" products in their shop, so not sure what that COULD be but his business is successful AND he has a seperate room for cars being coated and to cure. The shop and showroom are nice and clean too

That's why it's really difficult to gage how those polishes in particular are going to gel with the technician. But to be fair, Brian always said that we may have different results. For instance, I found Megs M110 to have a really nice amount ot cut to it, where he said he would have liked more from it. He also seems to switch pads around a bit - like many of us do, but I've been using a Buff and Shine Uro-Fiber / yellow Uro-Tec to get 95%+ of my work done. I think that while it may put me in a box, it also allows me to get the maximum out of that set up.

Wilson admits he’s not a detailer

He says he’s “an entrepreneur”

Well he’s right on the first count anyway

He also simply regurgitates the content already put out there by his mentor Auto Fetish Detail, frequently it’s almost word for word

I can’t take him and 95% of the rest seriously

Sorry in advance for hurt feelers

Not trying to be pushy but there are several really good detailing channels besides the ones mentioned previously here:

-Forensic Detailing
-Apex Detailing
-Car Craft Auto Detailing
-Car Cleaning Guru

There are other channels and I know I'm missing some but it's really late and I've gotta go to bed but give these channels a chance, you'll be glad you did

Agree with above but kinda out on Apex. Just always a good review. Plus he’s got his own products to present now.

I like Todd. I feel he’s pretty informative and he’s pretty straight forward. I’ve never really heard him talk bad except using a QD to wipe your car which I think most agree.

Esoteric doesn’t really do reviews the just highlight and advertise products they sell. The cater to high end and I get how that can be boojie.

Maybe I like them due to LSP’s i like. Even with them not liking waterless/rinseless I don’t see them bashing it… just saying not as good as a bucket wash.

I subscribed and find there video’s and informative. Really impressed with the extent of there ppf work. The try to wrap around all panels.

Reminds of like Larry from Ammo. High end details with their products.

With everything said here i'm still pretty sure i will be applying Cancoat or Pure EVO this year haha Thinking of playing around with some of my other less durable LSP's up to maybe august or September. I think i'm going to try an old school wax i have actually, vic's mayhem. I only ever used it on a black test panel, it looked great.

I like Todd, he has been doing this a long time and built a hugely successful business; however, every now and then he states something categorically that I really struggle with but nobody said we all gotta do it the same way

That would be boring

Wilson Auto Detailing

He's one of the TW Brigade
You mean those horrible commercials that Turtle Wax has been putting out lately?

No that I think is Jimbo. I’m one of the few who like him. He does those cheap vs expensive. Every online detailer will have “their” that is best way of doing things. He’s a little more responsive to his viewers as if he’s wrong he’ll try what they recommend.

May not be the best but seems genuine.

He has his own YouTube channel

He’s like a squirrel on meth

Just frantic

I haven’t watched him in several years

I honestly hardly watch vids anymore because I usually end up thinking it was a waste of time

As others have pointed out too many folks have a monetary agenda

If that’s how they make their living fine, I just don’t want to play

YMMV
