Threads that Grind My Gears

To be honest, none of (or is it off) them really bother me. I like to hear other people's opinions and why, doesn't matter if I agree or disagree. I do get a little upset when a couple people start going back and forth jabbing at each other over simple differences of opinion, but then I just grab a beer and move on....ahhh life is good. Of course I also look at threads like TV, if I don't like what's on, change the channel, if I don't like the thread, read a different one....and then grab another beer!

I hate threads where people say use the search button. It is so much easier to just ask your question, let people answer it and move on. By the time I read 10 threads that have the product I typed about, actually find the thread pertaining to what info I want to know about it, and reading through 50 posts in that thread where they got off topic or pi$$ed 40 posts back, I can already have gotten my first ten posts and be outside putting it to work. My nickel (I charge more than 2 cents).

Thank you, my goal is to try and learn as much as possible and to try to help out the best I can.

Those types of threads seem to always end with: Use what you want to use and use what YOU like best.

That's true, I believe that also but it seems like people often get attached to what they use and try to do anything to get other people using it. Problem is when you put multiple people together like that, it can create issues.

Cowboytruckin and carcarenthuiast should share an O'Doul's

If they bother you that much, don't open and read them. Like Ron said, we were all noobies at one time. So if you are above and beyond that point, you should be able to let them pass and take them for what they are.

But since you made a post about it..... Obviously you are not above and beyond yet!

Have a nice day!!

Did you know the difference between a swirl and a squirrel when you first started out? May sound old and repetitious to the more experienced, but not so to the noobie. These questions will go on even if there is a search button.

Well said Ron. I have asked many questions( which may seem dumb or stupid now to me) but have always got great answers that helped me evolve.

Threads started by anyone with either the word "Detail", or "Detailing", in their AGO forum name, avatar, signature line, or their "business'" name:

Those are really gear grinders...In my honest opinion!

Bob

Now see I was waiting for someone to post that. Good one Bob. I tried to cover my ass in the first post "Threads about Threads " and "This Thread" ;)

Its real simple folks.....we all were new at detailing at one point, no question is a dumb question,,,secondly, if you don't have anything nice or positive to say....just guide your mouse to the BACK browser and click .........simple enough.

:iagree:

NO INTERNET GANGSTERS PLEASE

Threads I like:

- Threads with pics of people's stuff: garages, orders, tools, etc... Don't know why, I just like candid photos of people's stuff.

- Threads about Adam's/3D. Very polarizing - I love it.

- Most OT threads.

- Threads about MF towels with pictures.

- Threads about new to market products.

- Threads that are "Bob heavy"

Threads I don't like:

- Poorly done reviews.

- Threads about the cost of AG shipping. This is a pet peeve of mine. I just don't know why. The bottom line is: spend $50 and get free shipping or pay shipping. If you can't do that, order elsewhere. If you live in another country - too bad. Move to America. If you live in Hawaii - yeah, it's not fair - but it ain't going to change.

- HF DA threads. However not from everyone. I just loath the guy that buys everything at HF, then goes to Pep Boy's to buy polish and comes here to ask how to use it. I don't know why. I understand it's a capable machine a lot of pro type guys use it. I'm fine with that. I just hate the guy who won't order A SINGLE DAMN THING from AG, but will come here to ask "what BP to get", etc...

- Threads on "how much should I charge?". My answer would always be: "As much as you can get."

- Welcome threads. Sorry, a bunch of people typing "welcome" is just dull to read.

- Threads about boats/motorcycles. I don't care.

- Threads about sports. See above.

I was talking to Mike the Stoops one about forum wars and how people literally fight about the best or worst waxes.

I then further explained to him that there are people literally fighting for their lives and how fighting over "the best wax" is a complete waste of time.

Look at what happened to Paul Walker now I am wondering what is going to happen to the Fast and Furious legacy...

Time out, I never said anything about newbies and this thread wasn't directed at newbies or asking "dumb questions" as a newbie, so I don't know how we went down this road on this thread.

The threads mentioned (that grind my gears) always end up down the same road, in some heated debate with someone getting offended or pissed off and the thread spinning out of control with banter. That is why "they grind my gears". The participants in these discussions usually aren't newbies and I too am guilty of increasing the thread count. I was simply expressing frustration with these threads and poking fun.

"Grind My Gears "was a very funny family guy episode in which Peter rants about things that bother him, it’s a parody the 1976 film Network. I was trying to make light of these threads that get everyone all riled up, like this one!. :xyxthumbs:

Maybe should have been more clear, judging by some posts some picked up on it. This thread proves the thread and that is why I added “This Thread” to "What Grinds My Gears”, because I knew it would go down that road and it did. Heck , I got a spankin from Bob!

Good morning, and in case I don't see ya, good afternoon, good evening, and good night! (That’s from the Truman Show)

Now back to your regularly scheduled program.
