Tire Dressing Comparison

I'm not sure, but I would be willing to guess that much of the gels: AA, DP, Wolfgang, Pinnacle are gonna last similarly if the tire has been prepped correctly.

Ok, so if you are not bulk detailing, and you want it to last, you guys say use....???
Feed back please
I am not happy with the stuff I have gotten in AZ. It does not last and my wheels accumulate a crudload of brakedust as a result.... I think it ends up on my paint too, as the dirt seems to like to adhere right behind the tires.....:(

Sparkie... i have tried the dp gloss tire gel and love it. here is a quick shot of it.

Wow, that looks nice. Great shine, how's the durability?

ltoman... Just about any gel will give you the best durability. AA Gel will be your cheaper product which you can pick up at wal-mart, and it looks like DP tire gel or Pinnacle Black Onyx gel will be a top notch product. But it's also 3-4X as much as AA Gel.

i dont know how long it lasts because i wash every weekend and reapply the gel. it atleast lasts 7 days though. it smells good too. i am going to try onyx when i run out of dp.

So the brand is AA then? (Excuse my total ignorance here...) yes?
TY!!

AA = Armor All

The armor all gel is in a smallar orange bottle with black cap. Also includes an applicator pad/sponge.

Thanks - just bought it. I will have to see how it compares! :-)

becareful as alot of store brand cheap wheel gels use low grade silicones. Look good initially but damage tires and turn them brown, can contribute to dry rotting. For UV protection consider 303 Protectant or Poorboys Natural Shine.

Insane Shine Slings Everywhere

EXACTLY! Insane Shine is not a good product, wipe your tire a week later and it's like a gooey slime that stays on the durface. Being that I live basically across the beach, my tires would pick up sand etc and it would like glue to the tire b/c of Insane Shine. Armor All Extreme Gel dries dry and just needs a quick wipe down, I'm impressed by it.

Haven't tied the Foam version, how long does it last compared to the Gel? Both in terms of durability and usage (how long does a can last)?

We tried Insane Shine and found that it slings off onto the fender and makes a real mess. We have had good luck with Duragloss tire shine for gloss and 3M tire cleaner/dressing for prep.

Watch out, you're gonna want to buy a gallon of the Black Onyx!:D I absolutely love it because it actually absorbs into the rubber. Very nice product.

i might go ahead and order a gallon because i am sure i will like it.

really? I've been using Armor all extreme tire shine gel, do you know anything about that? Is it damaging? I really like the look and the durability of it..

I also have 303 in a spray bottle, how do you apply that? Do you have to apply another tire dressing on top of it?

I've been using AA tire gel as well, and I know Justin said he uses it.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to be using AA Foam for bulk detailing becuase it's a pretty good dressing. Yea, it has silicone, but it's quick, absorbs into the rubber, and I can get a case of 12 cans for under $20.

But if it damages the tires, I would rather use something else.

If you dont mind me asking where can you get AA foam a dozen for $20?

Thanks

The newer Armor All stuff is fine, you won't have to worry about it. Now before the whole change to being water based, yeh, their stuff wasn't that great, all greasy and oily. I'm pretty impressed with the Extreme Gel, looks perfect, absorbs into the tire and is dry to the touch afterwards, and it's pretty durable. I would have ordered some Pinnacle or WG Gel, but the Armor All was available right down the street and I needed something as I got sick of Megs Insane Shine.

Now some store stuff like Black Magic I wouldn't use, I still have some of their Tire Shine from a year ago, not sure why it's still in the garage, but it was like rubbing oil and grease into the tires. Same for their trim dressing.

If you want a water based spray, I highly recommend Poorboys Bold and Bright.

Pinnacle, Wolfgang, DP tire gels, you cannot go wrong with either one of them.
