Two s2k in one day.

Slick, those cars came out great! :props:

You initial statement was spot on! Those two were filthy and there's only one way to make them look new; lot's of time, hard work, and great products..

It's nice having someone else taking those photos showing "you" doing all the hard work that in the end results in a very satisfied customer..

Thanks for posting all the photos, I really enjoyed looking at them :dblthumb2:

Nice job! I have a couple friends with s2000's too, and hopefully they will let me do their cars. For the scratches, i saw that you sanded it down a little. What grit paper did you use? My girlfriend's car has deep scratches like that and I want to be able to get rid of them.

Thanks mchant! I used 3000 grit sand paper on both cars. Sometimes you can get away with 2000 grit if the car clear are thicker. But it being a japanese car you have to be extra careful. If they are deep scratches and your finger nail get caught it them you can't completely remove them but make it look better. Here a pic of a deep scratch on my TSX.

After. Used 2500 and then 3000.

Hope this helps, worst case you can prob fill in those scratches with auto putty. Then sand it down flat, and use a very thin brush from a art store and put couple layers onto the filler. Then sand it down to flat. You can even get clear coat pen and put some on top of it. (I have never tried adding the clear coat method)

Nice work Slick!! Cars look great!! In that one picture you look like you were talking to the red AG HD applicator pad. lol...

Was the white S2K single stage paint? It looked like there was white on the sand paper. I've done some Toyotas that were single stage white paint.

Thanks Dave! hahaha I actually am still sick and he caught me coughing on the sponge hahahahaha. You did some S2K that were single stage? I asked and he said it had a clear before I started. I thought when you sand there going be white because of the
clear?

I noticed that too....I did a double take when I saw that :D

Oh, and Slick, your right about this Winters junk being all over ppl's paint. The clay manufactures will be getting rich off this mess for sure

Yeah I didn't feel like picking out the good pics to post. I just posted every pic they took, so that it may help other people who are just starting out. I remember when I first started and was really impressed with some people write up. Learned a lot by just looking at their pics.

I do a double take anytime I see someone wet sanding an S2K, I found out the hard way how thin and soft S2K paint is.

Yeah I tried to be very careful when working with Japanese cars, I'm still new at it that why I sand VERY lightly. There were some scratches on the silver car where I had trouble removing, after sanding 3000 grit then orange pad with M105/ white pad M105. didn't remove it completely. I thought that was an easy job because those scratches were pretty light.

Thank BobbyG! I'm going try to have a friend tag along with me when I detail cars. Maybe when I'm busy he can help and I can give him a little cash. Right now I'm doing cars for a dirt cheap. Just to get my name out so that people will try me.

Nice work Slick! Those cars came out awesome!

Thanks Seajay! After the cars were done I was impressed myself. They both though the car came out amazing. And they have friends that will prob want detail work. They are active members on S2K forums and RSX, and they said they going help post a write up for me in ny/nj thread for me.

One of them the white S2K owner said he can make a website for me free of charge! So I'm going take care of his car once it gets warmer in a couple months and help him remove all those swirls on his car.

Does anyone know how to remove this? The yellow stuff on the bottom? He told me before winter it was all white. Now it turned yellow and I tried a few things and couldn't remove it. Seem like it seeped into the paint and turning it yellow.

Not much but if I need to wet sand I do it very lightly and use 2500 or 3000 grit.

Thanks Marc!

Does anyone know whats that yellow coloration on the bottom of of the fender? And how to remove them? He said it wasn't like that before winter.

 Dude, maybe you should practice sanding on test panels first. From this response I take it that you sanded through the clear, that's not good.

I been practicing wet sanding for a while now and every time there is white stuff from sanding the clear coat.

I don't think I sanded through the clear. When you wet sand there is going be some white stuff. When I was sanding my TSX there were some white residue left on the car, my car is metallic gray. I then wipe it down with water and compound and polished it. And the result looks great.

Read the bold print above. Your client said there was clear before you started. To me that implies you sanded through the clear.

What makes you think I sanded through the clear?

I just wanted to know if the car was a single stage or if it had a clear coat on the s2k. He told me his s2k has a clear coat. I only asked because I read somewhere the older S2K were only single stage paint.

No don't be sorry I didn't mean to come off as being a ass, just wanted to know why you thought I sanded through the clear....

I thought when you wet sand there is going be some white residue from the clear. Only when you see the color of paint on the sand paper when your in real trouble.

I'm still learning so if there is anything I need to know please tell me. :dblthumb2:

I didn't think you were being like that. It's good with me. I'm not saying anything about the slurry either, because yes you will have a white slurry when sanding. You are correct. I just read the statement wrong that your friend made about there being clear before you started. The cars turned out great by the way, keep up the work! :xyxthumbs:

Thanks rwright!

So does anyone know why the bottom side skirt of white s2k turned yellow? And how to remove them?

I've seen ppl used diesel fuel to remove road grime/tar maybe that can work?

Someone posted on my thread that brake cleaner is safe on paint to spot clean? Don't take my word though haven't tried.

White sucks lol.

Thanks rwright!

I find that usually those side skirts pickup up a ton of road grime and tar. A lot of times they take a yellow appearance. I have a product called Pro Finish that usually cleans them up pretty good. But that's just a guess! I'd have to see it to really be able to tell.

When you clayed the sideskirt, was yellow coming up? Or does it do nothing at all?
