Why would they? They are union
Seems like everybody who is a union employee the service level goes down tremendously becasue they are not in fear of losing their job anymore
Just sayin
........ I would like to be in a union gig someday as a Police Officer
I will make a correction ....... seems as the lower level people in unions are a bit lax :nomore:
I can't tell you how many times I have heard "I can't get fired because I'm in a union worst they can do is put me on a desk job for a couple of weeks"
(this is in the emergency service field mind you)
I know what you are talking about ... very fair statement.
TY for you service
Yea, I've been able to see more things in my 21 years on this earth than most people see in their lifetime. Being involved in the FD, EMS, and working hand in hand with the PD I've seen enough dead bodies, trauma, pain and helplessness for probably 4 regular peoples lifetime. I've held many peoples lives in my hands and I've brought some back and lost some to the Lord. I've got the strength and determination to be the best person I can.
I was raised by a fantastic family with good values that always encouraged me to do my best. I was taught properly how to manage my money at a very early age, something many people can't do in their 40's. I bought a brand new truck when I was 17 (seinor in high school, leased for 3years then bought out last October $36,000 truck) been working everyday after school and full time in the summer since I was 15. Don't owe a dime to anybody currently.
You bet it does maybe not directly with Pt. contact in the sense of performing their duty but for sure with attitude toward the pt. and for banging out sick or scamming the system
 Sorry guysI'm done I promise lol
Sorry to hijack your thread Bobby but I can't let this one go.
Chris first you say that the box is smashed because of unions then you turn around and say you would like to belong to one because then you can, I guess be lazy, because you have worked and paid for your own stuff and now it's your turn. I'm glad you are that responsible but big deal so are a lot of other people. Then you say how at 21 years old you have done and seen it all on your department that because of unions patient care does suffer. I seriously take offense to that and a few of your statements and I guarantee if some of your co-workers knew you were saying what you are then they would have something to tell you. Tell you what. Next time your one one of those heroic calls working side by side with PD tell him he sucks at his job because he's union!
I have been on the job longer than you have been alive 23 years and am currently the Captain (shift commander) on my department with 7 stations, 45 FFs, 9 Lts. 36 paramedics under my command. My community had 26 murders in one summer a few years back so don't talk about what you have seen to make yourself look better. On my department someone like you that runs their mouth would be quickly told to sit down a shut up and it wouldn't be from me it would be from your piers. They would eat you up in the firehouse. The problem as I see it is a lack of officer control on your department not the Union. There is a thing called progressive discipline that must not be being used when it needs to be where you work or volunteer. With progressive discipline the slackers can and are weeded out.
So instead of coming on here and blaming unions, blame your officers or yourself for not stepping up and calling foul when you see it and doing their job and taking control of these people and doing the right thing when it needs to be done! Actually I'm afraid if they were then they would have a few things to tell you from time to time. You have had your say and now I have had mine and do not wish to continue this conversation anymore so if you do respond to this don't come back looking for mine. As you say. Just saying.
Sorry again Bobby and to everyone else for my rant.
