What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

My car showed 31 degrees but if it's sunny and about 25-32+ I'll be going through this touch-free wash, no more "ice skating" at the quarter carwash

Even if it freezes on the car before entering the touch-free wash it will get washed away without a doubt

I'm still blown away with the beading, I mean it's got Gyeon Pure EVO down there but several quality toppers in Gyeon Q2 Wax, 303 spray graphene and Adam's ceramic graphene spray coating. Even with 3-5 washes a week, weather permitting, I'm confident the coating will do its thing strong the first year at this pace

I have to try something, tunnel washes alone aren’t going to get me through the winter

Our coin op washes have double doors and are kept enough above freezing that there’s no ice skating involved

I think I will order a foaming sprayer and some pre-treatment and see if that and a wand wash will get me by

Guess I have homework to do

Most likely. It's the only rinseless I've used, but I have no reason to change.
It's in my collection and I love it. I mean I've got a whole gallon of 914 still and a little bit of Feynlab RW, plus some WGU and TW hoseless if you remember that.

If that's your only RW your in great shape, it's a 10 out 10 and great on coated cars for those who don't wanna interfere or "clog up" a coating

Let me write you a script

-IK Foam Pro 12

-battery powered air compressor

-velcro strap that goes around the unit to hold it (maybe some 2 sided tape to aid in placement)

-Bilt-Hamber Touchless or Auto-foam, your choice

-distilled water once you empty the gallon so your ready next time

It's about $250 total upfront but you can use it year round and multiple uses

I will most likely start with a smaller hand held unit to get my feet wet

I can repurpose that for tire/wheel cleaner if I graduate to a big boy

Plus I will have a compressor in the new garage so I can pressure up a big guy with just a Schrader valve

I’m not trying to start anything but I have seen threads recently where it seems like people are struggling to find spare parts like felts and stuff for the Ike brand sprayers

I've always found them on Amazon or The Rag Company. The felts can also be taken out and soaked and scraped from time to time. It's hit or miss if and/or when they get dirty. I always use distilled water in mine too and most importantly PLEASE release the pressure after each use, it hurts the o-rings over time keeping the pressure built up

I don't have a garage so that's why I have the portable air compressor attached to it but ofcoarse you can pressurize it like that. The IK Foam Pro 12 has a little Guage on it that pops up and goes from green to red when it's too high and then bleeds off.

Just for my 2 cents. I had the same thought as you on the high dollar foam pump sprayers. And to note ive never used one. But i went to hardwear store and bought a basic cheapy 2 gallon hand pump garden sprayer. I use that for my mix of bilt hamber touchless.

Obviously it doesnt foam, so maybe the dwelling period might not be as long, but it still melts everything off. It is suiting my needs for a prewash pump sprayer. Maybe down the road ill splurge for an ik12 foamer

If you get an IK Foam Pro 2+, you could pressure that up with an air compressor as well. I think they come with a number of extra felts in the box. The cordless SPTA foamer doesn't seem to have replacements available at all (vs harder to find) so I'd rate IK better in that regard.

I got sideways with SPTA over trying to buy extra batteries for the mini polisher I bought last spring

They simply wouldn’t sell them to me

I’m kind of not real anxious to deal with them again

I think the reason my felt discs got fouled was due to using hose water. I will now only use distilled water and should no longer have an issue.

Well I've had them get dirty using distilled and I never understood it. Did you find them on Amazon or from The Rag Company

Waxed the truck with Meguiar's Ultimate Wax (liquid). It did not need any real prep or correction as I did that a few months ago with Meg's 210... I just wanted that freshly waxed look and slickness, so a quick waterless wash and then the wax application sufficed.

Sorry I forgot to take a picture of my neighbors black suv I made shine today.

Learning moment!

I realized Rupes DA pads do not work on forced rotation (CBeast) machines as well as Lake County Hybrid pads made for forced machines. I like Rupes DA’s on my “Finisher” but I had that moment today what the problem was. I switch to a LC Hybrid and bingo.

I kept it simple, put some 303 Aerospace Protectant on the tyres. I've been waiting since the weekend, the wind has been so strong and gusty I didn't want to end up with overspray on the black trim.

I posted this elsewhere but since we were already discussing this on this thread I thought I would follow up

I just ordered an IK Foam Pro 2+, a jug of BH Auto Foam, and a quart of N914 to get to free shipping (thanks Crack)

I am very hopeful that this will allow me to get to a winning combination in my war on winter grime and salt

Cheers everyone

I did a QD with NV Boost, I had some water spots on the hood from using the water squirters leaving work today. I then cleaned all the glass with Krystal Klear Bubblegum Blitz.

Nothing today ofcoarse but tomorrow...TOMORROW will be my first go around with DIY Detail RW! I put MY money where HIS mouth is. I'm not a fan of this guy, don't know anything about his sidekick but we'll see

I bought other products from them due to to 30% off but no reason to talk about them as it's not warm enough to use them until I can get into a warm garage, stay "tuned"

His "sidekick" is the guy from Hawks Pro Detailing or something like that, I think?

I am not a fan of either of them anymore

I can't keep up with all the new (at least to me) brands out there like DIY, YUM, etc

I guess anyone with enough money to get a contract with a blending company can have their own brand anymore

And they are magically all "The Best" out there...

I will say this and call myself out though...when I called him out for doing a RW on a black 911 on Apex Detailings channel with what I thought was a tire and wheel brush it ended up NOT being that, it was made for RW, so I was wrong but I'm not using it.

I guess my issue was whoring himself out to soooo many channels that would have him, bashing "20th century wash technology" and now having that in your product line

It seems his RW is the "star" and I'll see how it does tomorrow, the EN hasn't been washed in days

This is the issue for me as well

He has always been “it’s my way or the highway” and then a week later he’s changed TShirts and the company he is shilling for and the rhetoric changes completely

Is he knowledgeable about detailing?

Hell yes

Do I respect and listen to him anymore?

Hell no

He has zero credibility in my eyes

Sorry if any fan boys get butt hurt
