What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I’ve been detailing this car today. It’s a Toyota Camry that my uncle is giving to my nephew as his 1st car. It’s a little beater, but damnit it’s gonna be a Clean beater. Perfect 1st car.

These are the only before pics I took. I dunno about you guys, but there’s not many things more satisfying than hooking up a 2.5”hose and vacuuming this amount of leaves from a windshield cowl.

This is a good example of how dirty the rest of the car was. I’m halfways done with it.

I like how your putting quality cleaning to make it a super clean car for this young fella, even if it is an older used car. First cars are ones everyone remembers, this guy will then love his first car and wanna take care of it. Exciting period in his life.:xyxthumbs:

Day 3 on the FJ -

Hand polished the wheels with Scholl S3, then wiped down with Carpro Eraser, and put some 303 Graphene Nano Spray Coating on them, even the spare.

Gave the tyres a coating of Autoglym Instant Tyre Dressing, then wiped the wheels again.

Decided the steering wheel needed some work, cleaned it with Duragloss 441 Leather Shampoo, then put some DG 221 Leather Conditioner on, extra thick on the bottom spoke, it seemed dryer than the rest of leather. Not bad for a steering wheel that's 11 years old on a vehicle with over 207k km on it.

Exactly. And he’s a real good young guy too. His mom raised him by herself as a single mom and he did good and turned out a heck of alot more responsable than most kids.

You’re spot on and that’s my motivation behind this because I know from my own experience that there’s great value in owning a beater especially if you keep it clean. A good beater is the opposite of a money pit. And saving money reaps great rewards. You know what I’m talking about!

You gave me an idea.
I think I’m going to put together a small car wash kit for him with some of the stuff that I 1st started with back in the days… Some Gold Class.

Isn’t it satisfying to have the spare looking perfect just in case it has to spring into action one day? Like bam look at that! So clean it didn’t even miss a beat!

I also keep my full size spare coated and make sure to check the air pressure every once in a while to make sure it stays ready.

Mine is easier to access than most, it just hangs there on the back door. But that means it does get dirtier.

It's funny, now that I've given it the full treatment, I start noticing just how dirty the windows get on a daily basis. So I broke out the Angelwax Vision, cleaned all the glass, then treated the windshield and from windows with Rain-X.

Also, just how much dust the black trim is picking up, but that's probably the Bumper & Trim Gel I used. The Mother's Ceramic Trim stuff didn't seem to collect as much dust, but also didn't look as good.

Vacation Detailing Project - Take Three

Tweaking my microfiber organization.

I have been storing my microfiber in these plastic containers for a while now. Conveniently, these fit each shelf perfectly for depth and three across.

With a little relocation of the shelves and moving the black and green tool cady to the floor/bottom shelf, I managed to make room for seven more of these plastic tubs.

I had pads and polishing towels on the bottom shelf in larger snap lock tubs. This arrangement just didn't work very well due to them not fitting the space as snugly as the blue and green items. I like things 'just so'.

Re-arranging this setup allowed two tubs for pads, one with brand new items and one for already used ones. I then separated my polishing towels into three containers, one with plush towels, one with dual sided towels and one empty for some new towels I ordered the other day.

The green tool cady I use to load up with towels before starting a detail so that they are ready to go.

While I was doing my big detail last weekend I was thinking about getting some more storage for my MFs and pads, seeing your tubs makes me realise that whatever tubs I get, I should be able to see what's inside. You've inspired me to go spend some more money.

Finally the big spring sign here in my little village. They brush and pick up the road salt and grime it holds on to. So a week more and hopefully a good rain and the roads are quite clean again. This meens that detailing has come to me and change the non studded winter tires on my Hyundai i40. But around the corner and the warmer weather the pollen explodes Are we ever satisfied LOL So it's time to clean up in the garage so I can be polishing and coating the cars

Tested out the small rig today...not bad!
For $68 on Black Friday can't go wrong...love the auto stop and it had enough power to foam from the cannon...

Had some time to kill before seeing my daughter leave her dance class today and the EN was dirty from driving in the rain the other day, so I decided to try something. I added 3 oz of Bilt-Hamber Touchless and 1 gallon of distilled in my IK Foam Pro 12 and try a touchless wash.

I started with the tires/wheels/wells and then the rest of the car, used the whole container. I did see brown around the car and from the tires/wheels. I rinsed the car and touched the very bottom...no dirt! I dried the car and by the time I got to the tires and wheels they had dried and I could clearly see dirt on the rims, so no touchfree for the rims, LOL. To clean them I used Feynlab RW mixed up as a WW and knocked it out.

It is going to storm tomorrow but I just had to do something as it still 68 degrees and I wanted to get outside and see how Bilt-Hamber would do and IMO it did do what I expect it too, wheels are always TOUCH to clean when dirty

This car needs some attention as it has some buffer trails, not horrible and some rids and in general that GREAT detail we all like to do to a brand new car that was given "the treatment" at the dealership, not impressed with the prep and/or application for that Xzilon product but that will soon be a distant memory once the weather turns and I "get after it"

That’s the nicest looking Hyundai I’ve ever seen. Everything about it looks great. The red accent on the bottom and especially the wheels.

What’s the meaning behind your license plate trim?

The Tail of the Dragon/Deals Gap is a stretch of road in NC/TN famous for 310 turns in 11 miles, once a nice ‘backroads’ drive before it became internet famous and now I think it has become so popular it’s difficult to find a time to drive it in the spirited manor that made it one of those places car guys need to go before you die(similar to Mulholland Highway in your neck of the woods?).

Germany does it right with the Nordschleife, metering it as a toll road and making impeding traffic the only punishable offense. :D

I have a shop nearby and I often see a bunch of sporty cars heading towards it. I've never driven the Dragon because I would just get pissed off having to go slow. I see curves and my right foot wants to go faster.
