What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I did not go to the new car wash today. I'll do it myself.

Just swap it out with a semi truck horn
I'd love that!

I'm at the point now that if these go bad I'm going to twist their arms and buy Hella horns and have them pay the labor, I'm not going to keep putting inferior junk back in the car

Did a rinseless with ADS Hero. Pretreat was still Griot's BF RW so it wasn't a fair test of just Hero. Slickness and cleaning ability were both good. Instructions say to wash a section and then dry it. I started doing that but then went to basically washing 1/4 of the car and then drying it. Is this to avoid SiO2 spotting?

A picture tells a thousand (exaggeration) words.

It looks like the guy is smiling at you, he assumes you're going to post it up somewhere, or send it to some friends, free advertising for them, he thinks, he'll tell his boss the sign is working, but doesn't realise he's the butt of a joke on a detailing forum. But has to spend the rest of the day out there because the boss believes him.

Someone posted about it on the local Facebook neighborhood group. The first comment was "Free car washes to destroy your paint lol." Not my comment. I'll let people make their own decisions.

When I get my Hero I’m going to do the first wash on half the car using Hero for both pre-rinse and wash and I’m going to pay close attention to how it feels for slickness, cleaning etc

Then I’m going to try it on the other half with an ONR pre-rinse and see if I can tell a difference

I’ll probably duplicate this experiment using N914 as well

I’m just trying to see if burning up older RW chemicals that cost half as much as Hero for a pre-rinse will negatively impact the cleaning ability

I also have 2 McKees golden sponges on the way so I’ll be diving into that as well

I’ll try one bucket and two bucket with the sponge

Hoping to get it all dialed in before it gets cold and crappy

Doesn't matter. I've shown people the damage from these car washes on their paint and they don't care. They go right back to it. I've even offered to show them how to do a rinse less wash free of charge that will take less time, not damage the car and leave it protected. Every single one has declined. There's just something about manual labor that people don't like.

Took my flex pixie to work on friday. Spent 5 minutes after work compound/polishing out some scratches that a pincher(dog) left in the drivers door of a coworkers tacoma. Rotary mode 1 inch orange force pad and 3d aca510 wasnt enough so i stuck a 3.5 inch lc blue hybrid foamed wool pad to the 1inch backing plate and went to town. Then swapped out pads for a 3.5 inch lc white force pad with 3d 505, after a few passes i changed 1 inch rotary out for 6mm with same pad/product for the final clean up. Took no time and co worker was very thankful and happy.

Does anyone know why they dont come able to run 3 inch pads in rotary?

Wow, interesting.

Since you said it was 40 degrees the other day, from my mid-Atlantic perspective, it's already cold and crappy. This reminds me when a member from Florida told us in the middle of winter it was too cold outside to wash...when it was 60 degrees.

Went to Hawaii over spring break once and it was mid 50s

The locals were bundled up and acting like it was the end of the world, and thought we were insane in our shorts and T shirts

It's all relative

I got the UX ready to go for headlight and fog light PPF tomorrow morning

I had a couple of mystery spots on the lenses that I wanted gone so I hit them with my TRC clay sponge and heavy HW solution

That left the front end a soapy mess so I blasted it with the garden hose and then did an ONR V5 pre-rinse and RW

Although I know they will clay and clean the lenses tomorrow before installing the PPF I decided not to use a drying aid/topper so the lenses would stay stripped

Drying was just ok, I was getting some towel drag, probably still this wretched humidity

I also found another junked out sprayer on my ONR QD bottle that I marked for replacement

My Tolco sprayers are supposed to be here by Friday

Washed my wife's car today and topped it off with Apex BC9! Fantastic product and one of the few products that doesn't streak on this finicky paint!

I got some big bug splatt a couple of days ago, and with the warm weather we've had, I didn't want to dial full wash just yet. So I thought I would just clean the windshield today. They were smeared pretty good by the wipers, so I used some Autoglym Glass Polish first, then cleaned and treated it with some Carpro Clarify Phobic. While I had it out I did the rest of the glass as well. I also cleaned off the headlights.

1 of my good clients dropped off this 2011 Ford Crown Victoria to me and said he wanted me to do everything to this car, even the seat belts.. Whenever someone says they want the seatbelts cleaned it sets off a trigger in my head. That’s when I take it personal. Lol.

This car got the full detail.
Interior - carpets extracted, rubber mats cleaned, leather seats cleaned, seat belts cleaned, removed the back seat and cleaned underneath it, leather conditioned.

Exterior - Iron removal, wash, claybar, paint corrected w/Meguiars Ultimate Compound, Megs paint prep, Gyeon Cancoat, headlights restored w/Megs Plastx, Megs Headlight Coating, Mckee’s Glass Restoring Polish on the glass, Hyper Dressing on the tires & weatherstripping.
