What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I am just kind of wondering if they were similar to BH Auto Foam and required a high pressure rinse

That has kept me from trying BH AF as a pretreat before a rinseless during the winter

Guess I need to study up on the Labo products
Yeah, but what Opie is doing is off-label for those products, those are supposed to be rinsed off, it's the Preludio that you're are supposed to be able to follow with just a rinseless.

Opie, I'm not saying you're wrong, that would make things a lot simpler if you could use Primus and Purifica for both conventional and rinseless. I imagine Labo has some reason they don't recommend that...unless they just want you to buy 2 different pairs of pre-washes.

I've used both Bilt-Hamber twins in my Griot's Garage foam gun and rinsed off with the garden hose sprayer and I didn't notice an issue...other than crazy beading

Corvette's aren't a frequent sighting here, the C8 is the only model to ever go on sale officially, the rest being private imports. However, the last couple of days, I've seen three out on the road, one in Black, one in Arctic White and one in Torch Red. The white and black examples caught my attention, but I didn't look back. The red one instantly caught my eye and for a second, I though it looked quite good. Looking back in the mirror, I then thought nope, that rear end completely ruins the design.

What's so sad about the C8 is how management ruled how the car looked, not the designers. At the time, GM crowed on about how they needed to take Corvette into a new era for a new generation. As in, they wanted to attract younger customers. Which, when you think about it, makes complete sense as older Corvette fans stop buying, and new generations start to become the target customer. But then what did they do? The marketing department insisted on being able to fit golf clubs in the trunk. Why? Why on earth would you buy a mid-engined sports car and take it to a golf club? I can almost guarantee that a potential Corvette customer is buying one as a second vehicle, so they'd have another vehicle to transport gold clubs with.

So, the whole golf club thing ruins the potential of the mid-engine layout by compromising the overall chassis and styling balance. They may as well kept it as a front engine platform. And that makes me annoyed because it's both arrogant and contradictory to the original intent. Seriously, do they really think someone wouldn't buy a Corvette because it wouldn't carry a golf bag?
I agree. The Corvette C8 is very funky looking and you can tell it was intended for a different generation. To me, the front end kills it. It is very tall compared to the C7 and you can no see the hood when behind the wheel.

You can tell GM knows they screwed up and now they are trying to entice buyers with a ton of power, but like Klasse said, you still have to look at it. I have also read owners are having endless transmission issues. Not the say the C7s transmission is any good, but the C8 owners are replacing theirs within the first 2000 miles.

Also agree, no corvette owner is worried about fitting golf clubs in the car lol Most of us have more than 1 car since the Corvette is not practical for most people.

Wow, I'm surprised you guys don't like the C8...I mean, I've never spent a long time studying it, I was just impressed that GM finally did the mid-engine, and made something that looks like it could be a Lamborghini. Although I suppose (and apparently) that's a negative for 'Vette purists.

Knowing the mid-engine Corvette was greenlit right before the 2009 financial fall, it proves to me that what your looking at is over a decade old design, I'm guessing ofcoarse but it looks dated from day 1

I could fit a set of clubs in my C5 *with* the top off and stored in the back. I used a lightweight walking golf bag that was thin and fit in between the top and the trunk-floor when the top was stowed away in its designated storage area. Was never going to be a deal breaker for me, I don't even play golf anymore as I can't twist my back like that, but was always an interesting data point I thought. Once I needed to stock up on lump charcoal and drove to the local wholesaler (Berger Brothers in Chicago) to load up 5 40lb bags. Even though I'd brought contractor bags to slip over each charcoal bag the guy loading up the car took one look and said, nope, not like that . . . and came back with some cardboard to line the "trunk" before beginning. One more reason I always tipped those guys well! :) That C5 sure had a lot of utility!
I guess I'm in the minority of folks that actually like the look of the C8. Non-starter for me is no stick. I'm sorry to all the slush-box fans out there but, to me, it can't be called a sports car if it doesn't have a stick.

So it did "something" overnight, nothing on the cars but out parking lot and roads were a little damp

I got off work and came home and inspected the car. The only dirt I could see was on the black skirting and very light areas where there was water, so I decided to get after it

Since it was so light, a waterless wash was dialed up, today's WW was Adam's waterless wash. My buddy uses 99% Adam's, so sometimes I get products he doesn't like or gets in a mystery box, this time it was a 2/3rds full gallon, so I was like HELL YEAH

I knocked it out in about 45 minutes, car, jams and tires & wheels and it did a great job but then again the EN wasn't too bad, so a win win

Well, I get that and the option should NEVER have gone away but there's plenty of auto sports cars

I don't hate the new Corvette, but it just doesn't scream Corvette to me. It's a 10 year old design copying Lamborghinis and other super cars, and it should have been updated after it was delayed.

With the manual v auto discussion, we have to admit it's no longer about being faster, or more efficient as it was for some. Autos are now quicker and more efficient. It's about being in control, and possibly more so, the process, skill, and feel of the mechanism. Even in the auto FJ I will change down to second or first coming in to corners and roundabouts so I have maximum control as I go through, I don't want it changing gears mid corner and upsetting the balance, I also like the exhaust sound higher in the revs. I guess this is why I have many gear knobs I swap in from time to time.

For the record, had my dealership had a 6 spd EN I would've bought it and for the record, the 6 spd EN is a half second slower 0-60 and slower in the 1/4 mile and is VERY hard to octane learn

I'm on your guys side with a stick, just not THAT hard core

As I said in my original post, no shade at people for whom an auto is their thing. That's their thing. It's not my thing. It's cool for people to have their own, different, things. As to 1/4 mile perf - yeah, an auto will always win out. I have friends that are drag racers (actually caught up for lunch with one on Friday, his '66 Chevy II runs 8's) but they'd never even think of putting their cars on a race track. The strip is the strip and the track is the track and ne'er the twain shall meet. I have never run at the strip, have no desire to, so 1/4 mile times to me are merely mildly interesting data points. My favorite track is Road America. There are no standing starts, ever, and the slowest corner is probably turn 3 and you are never lower than 2nd gear entering that turn and quickly into 3rd upon exiting. The shifting, heel/toe and *planning* for each turn is - for *me* - a big part of the fun. Even my Bronco with its little 4-banger sewing machine of a motor has a stick; to get the "bigger" V6 required forgoing the stick and that wasn't going to fly (and for, what, only 30 extra HP on a truck that weighs ~5K lbs?). Of course, I know I'm "out there" - I also insisted on the 2 door because as everyone knows Broncos only have 2 doors (just like Jeeps). :sneaky:
