What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

For the tires & wheels I used a tried and true combo:

-Adam's tire and wheel cleaner for the EN's Michelin Pilot Sport 4s

-CarPro WheelX for it's satin black, forged wheels

-Pure:est P1 spray on, hose off sealant

-ADS Ghost Tire Coating for the final dressing, 2x's

-My usual 4 brushes

The engine bay was also addressed:

-Griot's Garage engine cleaner

-Barrel brushes

-Kwazzer 1000ml sprayers to rinse down

-Designated mf towels & EGO Blower to dry thing up

-Koch Chemie Mp engine bay dressing

The RW choice couldn't have better chosen...Feynlab v3 RW @1.5 oz to 3.5 gallons of water, my own buckets and Legacy sponge. When they pulled up, on-time mind you, the car was dirty but the kind of dirty a product like this laughs at...and it did

I did a couple panels showing them how to do it and then I let them do it, they did a great job, drying each section at a time

Once done they moved into the detail area to clean the interior, glass...everything! I treated the Alcantera on the seats and door panels with DIY Detail Interior Clean and Protect and Colourlock brush. I also showed them the power of the scrub Ninja on the steering wheel, using Bilt-Hamber Surfex @3:1. They then used their own Griot's Garage interior cleaner, detailer and 3 in 1 leather on various bits of the interior.

They finished up using Griot's Garage spray wax on the Intense Blue paint work, I had already left by then. Before I left I gave them a gift bag for wanting to learn and coming out from 2 hrs away:

-6 Gulf Racing colored mf towels to do a RW the GD method

-2 bottles of FrankenDetailer

-2 grit guards (original and upgraded version)

-1 used scrub Ninja

-1 16.9 oz bottle of N914 RW

-1 full bottle of Wolfgang RW (Brr...it's going to a good home)

-1 bottle of Wolfgang tire gel (once again Brr, it's going to get used, I've got like 8 tire dressing, it'll take forever to get through them)

-1 old short brissel tire brush

Enjoy the pics, this color was VERY rewarding to clean and a couple of the pics his buddy took, I'm sure you'll figure out which ones and btw, we emptied THREE buckets of rinse water...yeah, use 1 bucket to do a RW, no F'n way

This was supposed to be a simple wash, clay and coating job with my free sample of Cerakote's pro coating I've got sitting in my garage. The customer knew there were some swirls and water spots so she was on the fence as to whether or not she wanted to go all in for a paint correction and ceramic coating job. I told her to come back in an hour after I had clayed the vehicle so that she could see the paint in all its glory. This is a "new to you" vehicle and after seeing the paint for what it was she decided to go all in as she wouldn't be happy with shiny scratches. Instead of a few hours of work as I had planned I slaved in my garage for far more time than I had spent on any other vehicle of this size trying to squeeze out as much correction as could be achieved with a one-step correction. It came out great but I did have to sacrifice a bit of gloss as foam just wasn't able to give me an acceptable level of correction with such severe defects. Urofiber 50/50 pads gave me much more cut but didn't finish as nicely as foam but some sacrifices had to be made to make a dent in some of the defects. Since I wasn't anticipating on doing a coating I didn't take before pics but I did grab a quick 50/50 video to show the before and after of one of the worst sections.

The paint passes the ten foot test but believe me, there are sections that anyone with a detailer's eye will reel in horror.


 
Did a quick wash on my daughter's car after doing brakes on it, Primus 2.0 pre-wash along with a Primus bucket wash and Purifica bucket wash to get all of the road salt contaminates off of it

Did "the usual" before work this morning and that saying "your going to wash the paint off of that thing" doesn't quite apply here, the red in the N logo in the front grill was removed

So you pulled that off on purpose?
I also must not have been paying attention because I'm sure you must have posted about your i30 badging, but I never noticed until you posted side-by-side with the blue car that says "Elantra".

No the touch-free wash removed it. As for the badging yeah I de-badged E L A N T R A almost 3 yrs ago. Some people replace it with A V A N T E, it's name in S. Korea but I chose i30 from it's name in Australia , I mean with it's looks it looks like a part # rather than a name

What did I do today? Looked out the window to see a limo driver cleaning off his giant black Lincoln SUV with some huge round brush. It's 20F outside.

PS Back during the summer I saw a similar scene where a driver was going to town on his black Suburban with a bottle of something and a towel. I guess it was coming out pretty good because a town employee doing some tree work across the street came over and asked him what it was.

It's i30 in Europe also, I think. Oh, and bummer about the red coming off.

Whatcha want to know about it? I've used it about 10 times this past summer. Don't have enough seat time with Ghost yet to properly compare, but Ghost is a much higher quality product.

Yesterday I worked on prepping my wife's summer wheels for a coating (Gyeon RIM). I hadn't planned on polishing them but dang they needed it. First image is a 50/50(ish). Spokes at 7 and 10 o'clock are polished, the other 3 untouched. Second image is the entire wheel polished.

I used my old PC with a 3" Lake County orange pad. My first time using Griot's Fast Correcting Cream and man did I enjoy it! Seems to work as well as Sonax products but without the grabby/smeary wipe off. Finishes out nicely too.

Back side of wheels is de-gunked as well. I did run over them all with a McKee's N914 rinsless wash to get the tar and grease remover residue off. Next weekend I'll wipe them down with a panel prep, coat them, and put on a layer or two of ADS Ghost.

Well........ i used it, but i had a crappy suds lab tire Applicator... I got disgusted with it and went in the house. I'll check it when I get back home and see how it turned out.

I have and have used Gyeon Q2 Wax, not too long after it came out and I had a great experience with it, goes on easy and smells CLEAN, best way to describe it. I know it coating friendly and IIRC you apply it to the entire car and THEN remove, zero dusting, you'll love it on the GS

Absolute rinseless followed by clay using Dodo Juice clay lube I had laying around followed by spraying it down with a rinse off of griots rinseless followed by absolute rinseless. Finished with Griots 3in1 ceramic sealant on the front roof panels.
