What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I wanted to give the FJ a QD today, maybe something with some added protection, we've got some rain coming in this week, maybe even a rain bomb, or so they're saying on the news. I found something in the shelf when I was reorganising yesterday, Dodo Juice Red Mist Tropical, almost gone to, and since it has a Dodo Juice wax on it at the moment it feels like the natural choice. It applied very easily, feels very slick too, I was wearing polarised sunglasses at the time and I could see where I applied it, like it was adding to the gloss. But I still only used half of what I had left. View attachment 138885View attachment 138886

Then I decided to try something new, Autosol on the tailpipe, just the bits that are visible. Used my little Ryobi drill with the cones, and an old, but still soft MF.View attachment 138887

Mmmmmm shiny.View attachment 138888

Much better!

Hot day at The Bays Wheeling

So headed off @8:15 a.m. this morning, temperature...84 degrees and muggy...YEA

Here's product starting line-up:

Tires & Wheels
------------

-Griot's Garage 3 in 1 Tire/Wheel/Mat Cleaner

-All brushes

-TAC System Water Flow

-ADS Tire+

Engine Bay
---------

-Griot's Garage Engine Cleaner

-Designated brush

-Koch Chemie Mp

Car Wash & Decon
---------------

-ADS Shampoo+

-Griot's Garage Iron Remover

Interior & Exterior Glass
--------------------

-ADS Pilot

-Griot's Garage Stinky Be Gone Redline Cherry

-Shop-Vac

-CarPro Clarify Phobics

L S P
----

-Gyeon Q2 Wax

So I started with the Griot's Garage 3 in 1 Tire/Wheel/Mat Cleaner, 2 tires and wheels at time and all brushes used. The tires & wheels weren't dirty at all, infact they were freshly dressed yesterday but I still scrubbed everything and I'll say the ADS Ghost/Tire+ combo stood their ground here. I finished the wheels with a boost of TAC SystemWaterFlow and sorayed it on the grill and lower, black pieces as well as rear diffuser

Up next was the engine bay and it didn't require too much work as I stay ontop of it but I did a more deep clean and detail. I grabbed the Griot's Garage engine cleaner and designated brush (brissels were falling out as I used this old brush) I then grabbed my IK Sprayer filled with water to rinse down the entire engine bay as the cleaner was used everywhere. Next was the EGO dryer, gotta get one of these! I finished by applying Koch Chemie Mp on all plastic & and rubber bits, closed the hood and got ready for the next step

Up next was chemical decon. Now I don't expect anyone to remember what saw last month but a little Turtle Wax Rapid Decon wheel cleaner got on my fender and it bled, so I decided to chemically decon the whole car. After 5 mins I noticed very little "bleeding", mostly on vertical section of the trunk, almost not worth it but I did it. Without removing it I simply foamed the entire car w/ ADS Shampoo+, let dwell and rinsed away. Upon rinsing the beads...O M G ! I finished up using the EGO Blower to dry the car and then moved it over to the detail area

Once in the detail area I opened the hood and dried up the Koch Chemie Mp with a designated mf towel and got ready to start my detail

I started with the glass and I just love CarPro Clarify Phobics, key here is a little water on the glass and less is more...VERY key here when using CarPro Clarify Phobics but my God does this product work, it's basically a glass coating disguised as a glass cleaner

Next was the 1st of two coats of ADS Tire+, I hate the word SYNERGY but it applies here! Yes the ADS Ghost is there and present but there's NO denying a freshly dressed tire and my God do they look awesome

Now it's time to go "Old School" with the LSP/coating "booster" and for this I reached for Gyeon Q2 Wax, a product that came out a couple years ago and specifically made to be applied ontop of a ceramic coating. I applied it to the entire car, letting it sit as I moved to the interior detail

For the interior a quick vac with their Shop-Vac was done quickly. I then grabbed the ADS Pilot and Colourlock interior brush on all Alcantara bits and it worked like the champ it is! This brings up the Alcantara fibers, making them feel amazing and actually looks great as well, what an amazing versatile product because I then used ADS Pilot on the rest of EVERYTHING in the interior, what an absolute pleasure to use

I then sprayed Griot's Garage Stinky Be Gone Redline Cherry scent on all carpeted mats and at this point the interior was done🤌

Finishing up was removing the Gyeon Q2 Wax which was on the paint for about an hour, per directions IIRC and besides, it was so muggy in there it needed to set up anyways. That said, not only did it come off easy but the GLOSS here...WOW!! Yes it's more work but applying it thin, as you should, made removal SO EASY & SO REWARDING

The EN is now across the street, under the shade tree and is NOT going into its usual parking spot, that Gyeon Q2 Wax is going to properly cure and no touch-free wash before work tomorrow either (maybe after work) because I want the best cure time for it

Thank you if you read this and/or looked at all the pics

Yesterday I cleaned my steering wheels with gtechniq L2 leather foam I got half off and a brush. I actually like L2, I am bit surprised after not liking G wash and their tire coating. Though I really like matt dash. Unsurprisingly the GTI steering wheel was not a problem, just wanted to get it clean ahead of Appling leather shield tomorrow. The GLI is my daily and its been a few months, so that steeringwheel was shiny. Also getting leather guard tomorrow.

finally applied the C5 wheel armour on my GTI. Parking lot application so wheel face only.

Note, the GTI wheels have an Acre of gloss black. The VW gloss black will swirl if you sneeze near it, so I took extra precautions.
Havent driven the GTI much since the last wash so the wheels were relatively clean. I Used some P&S absolute 64-1 to pre spray the wheels to pre-lubricate things. I then used absolute in a bucket with a wash mit to do the first layer clean, then came back with a low pile microfiber to get in every nook in cranny. I Got far enough into the barrels to keep the face clean while I worked. I used a Leaf blower to dry and then followed up with GTechniq panel prep. (trying to keep everything in brand for the coating)

The GTI has the "horseshoe" wheels with 5 horseshoes, 5 smaller sections between the horseshoes, and a large space near the hub. I did the wheels in thirds. 3 horseshoes then remove, the center, then remove, then the final horseshoes. I put it on pretty thick, but I have the 50 mil bottle and still have half left. I will probably do my GTI wheels at some point soon.

Tomorrow I plan to apply leather shield to both steering wheels, vacuum, use Polstar to clean the seats and dash in both cars. I also need to use some goo gone to remove the window sticker residue.

I have a fresh bottle of c4 trim coating, Im debating trying to find time to apply that ahead of my road trip this week, or just using some Plastar for now to darken the trim and make the car pop. I know im going to wash it and apply some Amplify before the trip. I might be silly, but one of my favorite things about a road trip is my car being super clean and shiny.
