What did you do today non-detailing related?

Mowed the lawn again, I tried to get a half and half shot, that's about 10 days growth. On the front lawn I went up and down instead of across, you can see the tracks I've made by going across too much, occasionally I go diagonal. PSX_20241002_170418.jpgPSX_20241002_170608.jpg

I am trying to get all my fall outdoor jobs finished up because it is getting cold fast, we are already getting down in the mid 20s overnight and almost all the leaves are gone

Today I got the front and side yards fertilized and sweet lime spread and I am hoping for the rain they are promising tomorrow because it is so windy that running the sprinklers will be troublesome

I have to wait on fertilizing the back yard until the front gets water and sits for a day or two so the dog can go out there and I can do the back, and I am really hoping I can get it done

The back has taken a beating with the dog

Ditto, sort of. Opposite weather though. The backyard has trails where the dogs walk the most, not helped by no direct sunlight on those patches, about 30% of the backyard, and excess rain for a couple of months.

Now the warmer weather is here, and the sun will soon be directly overhead, as long as I keep the watering up we should get some regrowth. Our lawn treatment guy recommended aerating the back lawn, to aid with regrowth, so I put my spiky sandals on and stomped around the backyard for an hour, fortunately the recent rain meant it was soft enough to do manually.

I am not sure how to aerate my lawn next year but it probably could use it, the issue is too little topsoil thickness over the underlying rock/dirt substrate

I am afraid I would destroy one of those power aerators from the equipment rental places because the hollow spikes would be pinging off the rocks

I REALLY need to slowly build up the lawn year after year using topdressing techniques until I can get another 3" of good topsoil depth

That's assuming I live that long and are physically able

Except for a few odd shaped areas I do a diagonal pattern and reverse it on the second side of the driveway so both sides are pointing in the same direction, and then the next mow I reverse it to try to even it out

It was really hard the other day because they trampled it so bad there were areas I wasn't even touching the grass so it was hard to keep nice even rows

I wish I had the energy to actually mow each section in 2 directions like I did when I was younger but it's hard enough just finishing the whole yard once over anymore

Watering the lawn because the rain hasn’t happened and I’m afraid of the fertilizer burning it up

Made the last trip to storage to get our stuff out and into the new shed, hoping my son will get with it and get him a unit soon so I can get completely out of there

Stopped at the other sons and when I fired the car up to head home I noticed this

Crap, wish I could give you my rain, we have a hurricane coming. My new grass is definitely set in now,

Just got back from a 3 night/4 day stay in Las Vegas. The high Temps Sunday through Tuesday were 100F- 101F-100F. At night it went down to about 70F.
It's getting cooler here in Pennsylvania. Tonight going down to high 30s. But days are very pleasant in high 60s- low 70s.

Oh you're out there with PADetailer, instead of on the other end like Mr. Snoop. Mr. Snoop is a stone's throw from NJ.

Finally, after more than 20 years, we are completely done with paying for a storage unit or two

Got the last load of his crap hauled to my oldest sons new unit, swept the floor, and said adios

That’s $269 a month that’s not coming out of my pocket

Congrats on that. I built a 12 ft x 24 ft shed maybe 25 years ago. Don't know what I would do without it.

Chilly, is that an outdoor storage unit? We have those around here, but the big thing now is "climate controlled" indoor units, which I think means 60-80°F.

We had a 12x24 shed built and delivered after we bought the house and yeah, it is a godsend

We got a barn roof style that has lofts at both ends for extra storage

Even after emptying the storage unit I actually have some more room
