So what does everyone use to strip their cars paint..other then busting out the DA..I wanna strip off all my wax and try some new products to see how they work. So what is the fastest product to do this with?

I have come up with a pretty good way to make sure the surface is clean and ready for new waxing. I spray the car with diluted OPT and then rinse it off. After trying I do an IPA wipe. I think the IPA wipe alone should be sufficient. Alternatively, you could always use Klasse AIO.

what is OPT...how come people cant just say what it is instead of using all these acronyms. not everyone keeps up with them.

You can do a IPA wipedown like stated above or a paint cleaner(pinnacle, wolfgang or dodo). I also use CG(can't use other product name) citrus wash.

hmmm didnt think an IPA was strong enough to get it all off.

paint cleansing lotion like Pinnacle, P21S, or Dodo.

I looked up P21S on the store site and it didn't say how it's used. Is this a wash or something you have to apply with an applicator? I'm looking for a the same type of product.

I just use a good old fashion hand wash with Dawn dish soap. You're probably going to wash the car anyway, so why add an additional step of using paint cleaners and AIOs, etc. Just remove the wax with the washing step and move onto your LSP. KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid).

How's Meguiars DC paint cleaner at removing waxes?

Does it have abrasives in it?

I kinda wanna strip all the NXT 2.0 and try DP poly-coat!

It depends on why you are stripping it. Do you have a good reason to completely strip it? Are you applying a sealant? Are you going to be polishing?

I would feel really good about P21S Total Auto Wash. :dblthumb2:

Assuming you want to strip your LSP and are not planning to "polish" I really like using a paint cleaner. I use Ultima Paint Prep Plus before using UPGP. I use WG paint cleaner before using WGDGPS. I use Sonax NanoTech Paint Cleaner if I'm going to be waxing or sealing with anything other then the 2 brands above. If you have a paint cleaner from the same line as the sealant you want to use great. I've found the Sonax NTPC (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/product-reviews/27268-review-sonax-paint-cleaner.html) seems to work nicely if you are going straight to wax. Most of the others will probably work quite nicely as well.

Dawn here typically mixed with some APC (All Purpose Cleaner) in my foam gun, then a two bucket wash with dawn.

Another vote for Dawn. I let it dwell for as long as possible.

CG's Citrus wash at the higher concentration for stripping wax.

I like using TW ice liquid clay bar as paint cleaner. It's not a good clay alternative but it easily cuts through any lsp and paint oxidation. A citrus degreaser + dawn wash is equally effective. However, in my experience, IPA wipedowns, while fine for waxes, are not really effective at removing sealants.

That's what I thought until I found it to take BFWD off without a problem. Not only BFWD but also a couple other sealants I had on different panels from testing.

For me it does nothing to remove 1000P, 845, and UPGP. This is with neat IPA (70%).
