What is your favorite wheel cleaner & tire dressing?

Wheel Cleaners
1. Iron X
2. Wolf's Decon Gel
3. Sonax

Tire Gel
1. Tuf Shine
2. PERL
3. Optibond

My wheels don't get too dirty, so I don't need wheel cleaners that target iron. I like CGs Sticky. Its about $2 to make 32oz. Works pretty well.

Every once in a while I'll use an iron cleaning wheel cleaner. I've got these two:

1. 1Z Color Tec
2. Auto Finesse Iron Out

But I have used them yet. I've used Trix in the past, but it doesn't foam up hardly at all. I got very little purple.

As for dressings, I love Tuff Shine on my daily driver. For conventional dressings I like PB's Bold n Bright and Prima Infinity. OptiBond isn't bad, but not as good as those two.

Sonic FE and P21S Gel for wheels.

Opti-bond or Meguiars Endurance Gel for a higher gloss on tires.

Wheel cleaner is P21 Gel right now. I want to try Sonax's wheel cleaner.

For dressing, it's either 303 Aerospace Protectant or Z16. Been wanting to dry the Blackfire stuff

Hum you guys dilute Opti-Gel 1:1? I am using it pure. Should I start diluting it, it seems to work nicelly pure.

Megs hyper dressing undiluted and applied with an applicator pad.

Iron x was my favorite wheel cleaner but scholl concepts rim 7 is almost definitely going to be taking its place. I'll have a review on this product in the next week or 2.

LOL i hate and i love that these theads exist:

I LOVE em, because like most GEEKS here, new better products excite me..:hungry: for a ton of reasons

i HATE em, because in many instances i am locked into the curent inventory of a product i have and i dont waste.... unless i find an UNBELIEVABLE product that blows the previous out of the water...

So i wanted to thank yoy all for constantly perpetuating my LOVE/HATE relationship with these sorts of threads..

but maybe this lotto ticket will hot and i can buy all of em.... ahahah

Now for a lesson on how far detailing has come in 45 years....Back in "The Day" we didn't have tire dressing back then. Hell, we didn't even have ArmorAll! To get our wide oval, raised white letter tires to shine, the secret was Johnson's Kitchen Wax! Those of us who knew the secret had outrageously shiny tires for cruisin on Sat nite....at least until the next time it rained! So think about how lucky we are to have such a huge selection of products to pick from! I sure do!

"Blackfire stuff" is really nice! It's more of a cream than a gel so I find it easy to get into all the grooves and ribs on my sidewall. The look it gives is exactly what I look for. Nice satin, non- greasy blackness. Total Eclipse doesn't last quite as long as others I have used, but that's OK since I'm gonna use it every 2 weeks regardless.

BLACKFIRE Tire Gel, tire dressing, tire shine

I like hearing things like this..... sometime it makes me think we knitpick wayy too much

then 25 min later i place an order for 2 shampoos, 5 types of MF, and 5 pad types ROFL

I keep it simple
  1. APC for tires and wheels
  2. rinse
  3. Opti gel or yes Megs high endurance

You're correct, there are so many quality brands to choose from it makes choosing one somewhat challenging.

Poorboy's World Spray & Rinse is a great choice for a wheel cleaner. For the most part just spray it on, let it dwell, then rinse off with a powerful stream of water. It's one of the few that actually work as described.

A word of caution with these cleaners.

After every use, flush out the spray head with clean water otherwise this product will ruin or clog the spray head.

Mother's Foaming Wheel & Tire cleaner is another amazing product. This product is actually one of the best all in one cleaners I've used to date. The only drawback to these cleaners is the price / ounce.

At $6.99 for 24 ounces, the cost breakdown is $0.29 / ounce

If you opt for the gallon size then it gets a little better at $0.27 / ounce.

For tire protection - CarPro PERL

For me its CG's Diablo (diluted 4:1) and Pinnacle Black Onyx, the Dynamic Duo!

These are pictures of what Poorboy's Spray and Rinse did to the clear coat on my Boyd's Star wheels. Spray and Rinse is ok on powder coated wheels, though.

Anyone like Megs Tire and Trim Gel?

I'm using 303, Perl and CG VRP and while I like all 3, I'm thinking of trying something thicker.

All the megs tire products I've used, last a decent amount of time, but SLING like crazy.

Did you follow directions to a tee? I've seen that happen after application onto a hot rim. I've used pb spray and rinse for every job I encounter with caked on brake dust and have never had issues. Make sure the wheel is cool and you flush or dilute the area sprayed with a higher ph substance like car shampoo to make sure all product has been removed.
