What's your favorite wheel cleaner??

P21S GEL!!! Nothing like it. Rinse the wheels first, spray it on and let sit while you get your buckets and tools set up for a wash, then just clean with a wash mitt with soapy water. Brake dust comes right off. If anyone has cleaned BMW wheels they would be able to tell you how nasty they get and I have no issue with P21 cleaning them. My .02
 
I'm washing my car at least one time per week and I don't need a wheel cleaner.
Soap + mitt + brush is enough to clean my wheels.
I understand the point of using a wheel cleaner on wheels that hasn't been cleaned in many months.

Am I the only one in that "situation" ?
 
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Car Brite's non-acid is AWESOME STUFF. Super concentrated and only about $25 for the gallon.

I always work 1 wheel at a time so I can control the dwell time. You are right, it is an awesome wheel cleaner.

I will have to try a bottle of the Griots when my AG CWC runs dry.
 
PB's Spray and Rinse out did the Sonax my buddy brought buy. We used them both on another guys beat chrome Jeep rims and the PB's clearly made the clean-up easier.

Is it safe on uncoated aluminum too? I really want something that I don't have to worry about. It seems as if my choices are either to stay with Sonax, or Griots HD wheel cleaner.

If this car-brite stuff is safe for all types...I may try it just because it's concentrated and cheap.
 
Nope, that's the only downfall. But as far as everything else, it has never let me down.

Just start at one wheel, spray, and move on to the others. And by the time you make it back to the starting wheel, it's ready to come off. Hit it with the PW and your done, period...

What are you using for uncoated wheel now. Personally, I have yet to find some thing one the truck I felt was 100% safe. Soo, just a mild soap and water for now.

One is acid based while the other is pH neutral. Any question why PB's worked easier? ;) I wouldn't ever use an acid based wheel cleaner. Even if it's few and far between, there's too much risk of damage to a wheel finish. Not worth it to me.
 
Kristopher..I have been using a product from Autoglym called Custom Wheel Cleaner..and man does it work! I bought it in a 5 litre jug..but it is pricey and HARD to come across. For the money..and your needs..the Griots HD sounds like the way to go. Very positive things said with this product and cost effective.

I've been using Sonax. Never had a problem with it. Works on everything! Only downfall is the price on this stuff.

If you're looking for something that works really well on uncoated aluminum...I often use Flitz Pre-Clean. Stuff does an amazing job, and gives quite a bit of shine. I use it on RV rims most the time...but it works great on any aluminum.

But, I think I'm going to give the Griots a shot. I could buy three gallons of Griots for the price of 2 gallons of Sonax. They appear to be similar products by the looks of it anyways. Does the regular Griots wheel cleaner come concentrated?

The Griot's HD wheel Cleaner is awesome, but if you use with with a Griot's Sprayer(which I think is mandatory), you use a lot. It goes pretty quick, IMO.
 
I only uses an old microfiber and ONR on my wheels. Then again I have owned the car since it rolled off the assembly line and wash the wheels once or twice a week. I normally spray some Optimum Wax on them too to help with brake dust removal.

Yeah, trust me...most customers do NOT do that, haha. I do have a ton of customer that really keep their vehicles up. But, most the time the wheels are desperate for attention.

My only issue is that it doesn't appear to come concentrated. But the regular Griots wheel cleaner does. Is the regular wheel cleaner any good you think?

I just hate buying stuff by the gallon. I end up with 20 bottles kicking around, and I fly through a gallon in a week.

I have tried both Griot's wheel cleaners. Neither one of them is concentrated. The regular wheel cleaner is more of a maintenance cleaner. The HD wheel cleaner will remove just about all break dust possible.
 
I've said it many times, but I will say it again, Brown Royal is your pick. It can be diluted, cheap, effective, safe.

I'll try it out. I looked into Brown Royal, and it definitely seems promising.

The guy that promotes it on youtube gets on my nerves, ha. "Brown Royal Wheel Cleaner, it's the best wheel cleaner in the world!"
