what's your weather currently like?

More ice today. Really getting tired of this PA winter. Miss washing/detailing the truck. Catching up on sleep over the weekends. LOL.

-18 this morning with a feels like -35 on the way into work here in Central Iowa.

As of 7:00 a.m. it's 77 degrees and 90% humidity. Pollen season is in full swing. My Black car is so green if I parked it in a forest it would be fully camouflaged. Probably at least three more weeks of green hell.

Why pollen in February? Because when Oak trees that naturally grow in a temperate climate are planted in a tropical climate (South Florida) they become totally confused. They just started dropping their leaves in January and are already pollinating in February.

It’s now 16°, but was 10° when using the snowblower. Had 24-30” drifts to get through.

Crazy out here on the tip of LI today. Temperature hit 57 degrees.

That warm air on top of the snow produced a very dense fog. At 4pm, the fog had lifted and it was 53 degrees. 95% of the snow had melted.

But never fear! It will be 23 degrees in the morning, and we are getting 5-8" of brand new snow on Thursday!! F you Mother Nature.........:mad::laughing:

^ Yes Paul, Mother Nature can sod off. Another night below zero and more snow coming Thursday...

My apologies for the long post!

I have NO idea how my fellow ago’rs live in the north or northeast!

In Houston, we received around 2+” of snow Sunday night and Monday morning as well as about an inch plus of ice prior. It was absolutely beautiful...picturesque!

We lost power yesterday morning at 735 and havent had power restored yet!

Last night was pure hell since we have no power, we have a small fireplace that gives a little heat but I’ve never been so cold...I believe the low last night was around 10 degrees. I took a hot shower this afternoon and I think our shampoo and body soap might’ve froze last night...it was super thick and cold!!

Internet connection is also very spotty, the family and I are actually sitting in the car in front of the high school we live by using their internet connection...wife works for the school district and the WiFi passwords are the same!!

Not sure when we’ll get power restored but it may be later this week or could be later tonight, no one knows!

Update...as I’m typing this my daughter just fired up the kids baking championship on her phone...we need power restored asafp!!

We’ve ventured out a couple of times out of boredom, roads yesterday we iffy but watching enough driving shows and the news and I knew what not to do (recipe for disaster)...except last night when we were taking a left turn ever so slowly from a stop sign and no traffic, probably 2-3mph or less...next thing I knew we did a perfect 180...me and my daughter were laughing wifey...not so much!

My scangrip light has been wonderful to cook with, slap it on the microwave above the gas stove and poof perfect light!

Tonight’s forecast is freezing rain around midnight and the low around 27 degrees, hopefully it won’t be as miserable as it was last night...slept in long johns, T-shirt, and a freakin beanie on my head!

We can deal with the heat, humidity, and even a freakin cat3/4 direct hit hurricane....but this cold...no way...much respect to my fellow ago’rs who live with this every year!

Again...sorry for the long post...it’s therapy!

Jay

The right clothes, a snowblower, 4WD, a wood stove, and municipalities that plow and dump 2 feet of sheetmetal-eating salt on the roads. LOL

But seriously, I really feel for you guys down there Jay. If you are not prepared for Arctic cold, you are in for some awful, awful surprises. I still get nausea thinking about that 70+ vehicle pile-up video down there that I saw on the news.

Take good care of yourself and your loved ones, my friend. :)

Yep. And it's kinda like detailing, you need the right tools and products to do the job well.

This is the latest in de-icing products. It's a by-product that they capture from oil and gas wells. Among other things, it contains our friends calcium chloride and potassium chloride, which are both far superior to sodium chloride. One small problem ... apparently it also contains some radioactive material.

Update...ran home for a few things and the family decided to go back to the school parking lot and watch TV! They finished kids baking championship and we watched below deck, and now watching some good trailer trash TV...housewives of Dallas! God help me....on the bright side we’re having some great family time!

That’s some real inception stuff going on in that picture - is that someone on their phone on the phone you took a picture of with your phone? :wowwow:

In all seriousness, hope your power situation gets resolved soon! Glad you’re able to stay in good spirits and get some good family time in!

Saw 12° above zero today, that was glorious. Looks like we should be warming up up here.

POWER.....49 hours later! It may be temporary as they’re still having rolling blackouts but damn it’s nice to have the heater on and internet!!

Jay
