Detail Co LLC suddenly emerged to compete with The Rag Company, Autogeek, Detailed Image and the other big online retailers. Who's behind this?

Many of you, like me, conclude Detail Co, Clean, DIY Detail, The House of Rags are the same or pretty close. From public records I found a Detail Co LLC registered with the Nebraska Sec'y State with a corporate address in Omaha NE. The address leads to a residence for an individual. LinkedIn has this person as an employee at Media Services in Omaha. MS is listed as a recording and rehearsal studio. MS was probably hired as a media production facility for DIY and its affiliated brands. The MS employee probably agreed to use his residential address to obscure the real owner of Detail Co LLC. This explains the Omaha connection when you see Yvan, Nick and Eddie filming in Omaha. Also, Nick (McGurk) spoke of a "managing partner" in Omaha on a recent episode Auto Detailing Podcast
(go to: 1:27:55) It sounds like Yvan and Nick are employees. It makes sense PTO, Eddie and Jamie are too. I get the impression Eddie and Jamie are not venture capital investors, and did not get SBA loans or put the bite on relatives for money to to start Detail Co LLC. The list of corporate officers for Detail Co LLC is behind a paywall: https://www.nebraska.gov/sos/corp/corpsearch.cgi It will likely reveal more shells for the real owner.

The other Omaha connection is Owner's Pride. For a while OP was a big deal with influencers but fell off the radar. OP was founded by ex-Optimum Polymer Technolgies employees. As you know Yvan is an ex-OPT employee. Unfortunately, none of this leads to the managing partner Nick spoke of. I thought Yvan was the money behind this and he might be. He was very successful in the detailing business in Canada.

All of Detail Co LLC appear to be high quality, but are they worth the added expense over other brands with similar high quality? Then there's the added attention of PTO proclaiming to be the best. It made me want to dig into this.

Wow....this is a different type of "Forensic Detailing", great work! So basically all these people are under the same umbrella

Interesting but the Detail Co. is not expensive not what i seen anyhow. Apparently, DIY is involved with b and b blending in some way i read.

I love a good behind the scenes detective story, but I will point out that different companies in different states can have the same business name. Do you have any connection to "Detail Co LLC" in Omaha from the other companies you mention? This could all be huge conspiracy to coerce YouTube viewers to buy the same products from multiple entities, or it could be just a guy who works at Media Services who has a detailing company on the side (like many forum members) and has nothing to do with DIY, Pan, etc.

And has been discussed many times, there are big blenders out there who make a lot of products for a lot of companies. It could just be that Yvan, in his "retirement" likes to mentor people like, um, the TV guy, Pan, EC, and who is the other guy? Jamie the cleaner? And he helped/encouraged them and they all became friends, and shared "secrets", and all use the same blender and fulfillment center.

I mean that's kind of like saying that because a product comes in the same kind/color spray bottle and two companies ship by FedEx, they must be the same product. There only so many spray bottle makers and so many shipping companies.

I'm not saying that this isn't a huge conspiracy, I'm just saying it could just as easily be coincidence. EC and Jamie say "which blender should we use" and Yvan says, we use this one, here call this guy, he's great, and you like him, go for it.

Just to go on and on...back when OCW was new, there was a big "conspiracy" because there was a Prestone detail spray with carnauba being sold at the big box stores, and it came in the same blue spray bottle, and you had to shake it up before using--so it must be the same stuff! IIRC there were a lot of differences, and I can't remember if people thought Optimum was selling Prestone, or if it was just "I can get OCW really cheap in this Prestone bottle!".

Of course, as I suppose is common, when Optimum DID make something for someone that was sold in big box stores, no one figured it out. The Optimum rep on the Optimum Forum revealed a year or two ago that the (now defunct) Turtle Wax rinseless wash was ONR.

I still have a bottle of Turtle Wax hoseless wash, that color was 100% the same as ONR, now I know why

I wonder if it's still good

Kudo's to The House of Rags black friday however the deals were just insane - i never seen such deals for detailing products i don't believe. The 15mm polisher was like $130-140.

Because of the people involved with this company I just can't support them, no matter how good the deals are but I am but one so it doesn't really matter

I didn't buy anything lol Just an observation. I have everything i need really. Maybe some new towels soon and i might try those lithium cubes on my older car. I think i'm going to pick OPT's new hyper ONR too - i haven't use car soap in over 2 year now. Oh the decisions... :D

I gave myself a very low budget of $250 for 2025. :)

$250 for the year, yeah, good luck with that

You must really like ONR, huh

I have never used ONR actually. 32oz is just a managable size and i don't like absolute peronally - i used up a 32oz bottle in a little over a year. Has for gyeon its too expensive if i wanted to commit to a full gallon which i like. I use rinsless for all kind of things.

I'm about 1/2 through my gallon of DIY and i want to try something different. I was always hot and cold with Yvan but the C6 line finally made up my mind. Cash grab to all kinds of people on youtube, instragram etc

Maybe you and a buddy could split the price of Gyeon Q2 ECO wash

I can understand the "hot and cold" about Ivan, I've been there myself but when thr DIY Detail line came out I bought a couple products and was very impressed with them, particularly their Interior Ceramic and Clean and Protect, you see I've got a bunch of Alcantara pieces and it does AMAZING job there, I can't see using anything else if I'm being honest

One thing that "someone" said to me in the comment section of a DIY Detail YouTube video, that a pre-wash was coming out and I haven't seen it/heard about it and the funny thing was I asked if they used Bilt-Hamber as a benchmark and they said no, they used a "better product" but IMO a better pre-wash than either Bilt-Hamber Touchless or Auto-foam just doesn't exist, so to use that putz up north's words...GREATEST PRODUCT IN THE WORLD (Bilt-Hamber twins)

Pan is really good for Ivan i believe. He makes Ivan look like a stand up guy. At least Ivan is a real detailer and a very successful one.

But i don't trust either and will not buy anything from DIY or Clean.

See I thought Ivan was some chemist for Optimum, never knew about his success in detailing. I know this, based on what I've seen/heard from him he's not in the same league as a Sandro or Larry from AMMO, he's always trying to be funny but comes off as a clown most of the time That said, I respect your not wanting to buy anything from either one of them, Ivan never crossed the line for me like Pan did and those other 2 clowns, DJ Kalid and Jamie the whatever, a sideshow act at the very most

Hopefully I'm not repeating myself, but Yvan had a detailing shop in Montreal, and somewhere along the way opened a second one. From what I could tell, his was more of a high-volume shop, not a "concours" kind of place, I guess with the weather up there during the winter a detail shop can become kind of a glorified car wash.

That's why he was always into efficiency and coined the "Optimum synergy", he may have been the guy who developed the "drying aid" approach, with Opti-Seal, he certainly did the "clay and wax" by using OCW as a clay lube, and also the part about not buffing off Hyper Compound, but just going over it with Hyper Polish, and then wiping that off with OCW.

So he was a big customer of OPT, and I guess he told Dr. G about all these hacks he had developed and talked his way into teaching classes at the Optimum headquarters, and somewhere in there Dr. G got sick and Yvan was spending so much time there he sold his shops.

I don't know if they are still out there, I think they were at the OPT YouTube page, but Yvan had some early ONR videos washing cars in his shop.

At the end of the day none of this matters to me.

I will support The House of Rags in Canada if they can get Nxtzen here. And there jobber 365 towel is my all time favorite towel. Its basically the same as The Rag Companies 365.

Eddie is trying to bring on different brands from overseas so that's a big bonus for me frankly. I never liked most of the USA products i used.

3D is good though. Besides a half gallon of DIY a few 3D products the only products i have that are made in the states are buff and shine + lake country pads which all use European foam. :D

I assume the "USA products" your referring to are the likes of Meg's, Mother's and Turtle Wax?

That said, isn't this House of Rags an American company?

1. Yes and mckee's, P&S, chemicals guys etc I find the America marketing/ad copy more dishonest frankly. Have you ever looked at the ad copy of lithium products for instance? Man....many other examples.

2. Yes.

Ivan said in an interview he was approached to be a part of DiY from a blender I believe. Said he wasnt interested and recommended Nick.

He said that they liked Nick and he was on board but now wanted them both. Said He and Nick were offered ownership. Don’t remember who was interviewing him but said blender was one who contacted them.

Chemical Guys shouldn't EVER be lumped in with P&S, it's not even close IMO. I haven't used every P&S product but the ones I have I've re-purchased, inparticular Brake Buster, I'm on my 5th gallon since it came out, my go to for wheel maintence, used in the IK Foam Pro 9 infact.

McKee's N914 is a good RW/WW product but I've never ventured into many other products and if I did I don't remember them or they were general use products like a tire cleaner let's say.

What's this "ad copy of lithium" about
