Why MF vs. Terrycloth on Tires?

Honestly, I've never seen a need to use any type of towel on a tire. Especially when that's why I clean with and use the chemicals that I do. The more I use Mothers Wheel Mist All Wheel Cleaner, chrome wheel cleaner, aluminum wheel cleaner, Mothers wheel cleaner and the right brush the more I'm impressed by it. Not only on what it (Mothers) does for cleaning the wheels, but how it cleans tires.

Now, I'm not saying I won't try this, rather, I've never seen a need for it. However, it does seem like a good idea for towels that are close to their last days.

Seems like I recall in a review by Corey, not too long ago, where he used and recommended using a micro-fiber towel for tires. Maybe he'll see this and chime in with his experience.

These are easy to use and durable.

Special Purchase Microfiber Scrubber Pads, tire scrubber pads, cleaning pads

Bunky, what do you use them for? For scrubbing the tire instead of a brush? Scrubbing after a brush? For a final wipedown?

I use MF on the tire for Final wipedown before tire dressing. I find that a Terry Towel often leaves lint/fibers behind. A well worn terry towel works fine. but grab a new one and see what it leaves behind. esp on mud tires or any thing with high raised letters. And i only use old MF for tires.

For the same reason they are good at cleaning other things, the have "micro fibers" which means they have a lot of surface area. Some of us don't like to clean tires with them because they become permanently stained. It's my perception that terry towels clean up better, which may be my imagination, but at least the terry towels I use to wipe tires are old and paid for...

^^^This, by design MF offers a superior cleaning ability.

Actually, I just learned something new at the NXTi training last September, and that is that MF is actually available in 4 grades. I'm not talking about the 80/20 or 70/30 blend here, I'm talking about the actually fibers themselves and how they are split.

What grades?

What grades?

It was a grading from1 - 4 and it had to do with the number of times the fiber was split. The image above would be a 4 based on what I was told and of the highest quality. I believe they said a number 1 would only be split one time, obviously this would change how the fibers react.

I'm trying to find this info online but not having much luck...

I'm with you on this one. A good APC or wheel/tire cleaner and a stiff tire brush works like a charm. Not to mention, the tire brush runs about $5, lasts forever, and in my opinion, is much easier to scrub a tire with than using any type of towel.

I only use MF towels to apply dressings on the tires. Cleaning is done with APC cleaners and brushes, ;)

+1
Although even so I like to scrub my mf after cleaning....and when I get black on it, I know I didn't do a goodjob cleaning the tire with apc and brush alone...
